    It is completely acceptable to exaggerate national features in cartoon-like style like it was in Red-Alert where Red villains like cruel Sonya brought some flavour to the game plot.

    But it is completely unacceptable in a game pretending to have a certain degree of realism to depict as monsters, cowards and completely wretched persons those people who were involved in defending their country against Nazist onslaught and those people who later liberated Europe from this cruelest and yet powerful regime of XXth century which was Third Reich.
    Unfortunately playing with colorful display of virtual evil characters the authors of this game scenario crossed the certain line, where depicting a character in full depth BECOMES undistinguishable from racist and arrogant attitude to peoples of former USSR who lost indeed much almost every family lost someone in that war, and not burned alive by own soldiers, but while fighting nazis or due to bombardment of their cities or villages...
    Such racist and politically incorrect attitude to all which is sacred to every family here in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and other countries is especially strange when coming from a country where you cannot call black person a or an invalid person an invalid person. Nevertheless you call our grandfathers, who defended their motherland ****s and invalids with every plot twist in this game.

When imperial guard Commissar from WH40k kills his own soliders, or orks kill each other for no reason, it's ok, they are fictional characters. But distortion of real history offends people. Why there is NOTHING good about Russians in this game. C' mon, Relic, you've even shown GOOD side of NAZI Germans in opposing fronts. The game is called Company of Heroes 2, not Warhammer 1942-1945.     This game is not just looks like it is one ot those games which are meant to mess up your brains and history knowledge, or just kill them both. Even in Germany there are a lot of prohibitions on everything that relates to fascism because they don`t want to remember horrible things which they did to France, Russia and even their own country. Sure it was Russians, germans just smelled flowers and watch rainbows on their way.

    Unfortunately I cannot evaluate gameplay better because this game in highly unstable and crushes or freezes too often and without interesting tactical missions or story I don`t see any reason to beat this dead horse.

    As for nazi relic I haven`t seen such disrespect for my country from anything or anyone sane for a long time. My own grandfather fought in this war and returned home with a dent from a fragment of a shell and blind dead eye, but never I heard from him or any other veterans who actually participated in real combat of this war anything like this crap you call "historical facts".

    I will make sure to stay away from your future titles and keep away my friends and acquaintance, and yes, we are those people who pays for games we play (even though there are a lot of ways to get them for free). I also inform everyone I can about your attitude toward my country.

    Total absence of logic and rule of stereotypes and cliche about evil red army. Relic depicts us military force that was suicidial in every way possible, unwilling to fight and win despite fighting on the native soil, for their own families. Red army was retreating first 3 years of this war. Retreating and shooting down everyone who was retreating from the frontlines. Right. For 3 years in a row. Then after 3 years, red army commanders understood that despite their best efforts of suiciding they still fail in their mission. So they sighed and decided to go into attack for a change and happened to defeat Germany within next 2 years. Seems totally legit.

    Its Funny how Westerners think they know our History better than us. Am not denying that some of this things did happened on Eastern Front, but to make it seem that it all it was is Idiotic. I am very disappointed with this game. I paid money for anti-russian propaganda. Also stop saying "well its the truth" its not, its the truth of YOUR government and its not Universal. Damn kids.....

I think that the developers of the Nazis because they RESPECT Germans more than the country defeated Nazism ie the USSR ("certain countries" only pretended that helped to open a second front when he was not needed) All in all the game was terribly false and deceitful it in all that regards the Soviet Union

    I was totally disappointed after watching the story in the single player campaign. The title "Company of Heroes" made me think that the story is about heroes which I believe my ancestors were. However, they were pictured as people I can't be proud of and can't follow their examples at all. No more words. I try to be polite.

    The gameplay is quite weak, there are some bugs. The historical facts are twisted in a terrible way, Goebbels would be proud of the plot. This kind of propaganda could have existed in the world without internet but now, when the borders are open, it is ridiculous if the authors think their deceitful propaganda will remain unraveled.

    The first game was much better as an RTS.

    The Red Army liberated my direction from the Nazi occupation. Donated 600,000 of his soldiers for the freedom of my country. While the government has betrayed his people and hid in London.

    CoH2 is a dumbed down version of CoH. The UI is a mess and the whole game feels gawky to me. Sure the explosions are nicer but I prefer CoH's graphics over CoH2's. Intel bulletins were added to "reward" players the ability to customize their units further after they have achieved a certain milestone in the game. This ranges from using x ability y times or killing x unit using y unit using z ability a times.
    Campaign-wise, CoH2 is basically a B rated Hollywood movie with a generic storyline that you can find in any Hollywood WWII Soviet front movie or even Cold War era Soviet side specific movies. It's honestly very boring and the characters are just bricks. The campaign itself doesn't take any skill to complete since you're able to summon as many free conscripts as you can while the enemy AI doesn't advance forward and capture/re-capture points you've taken from them. There's no skill needed at all.
    With that said, CoH2 is not all that bad. True sight and vaulting are nice features that will allow you to diversify your offensive/defensive. Cold tech is an alright feature and it's obvious that it just had to be there.
    Overall though, CoH2 just fails to meet my expectations. As a big fan of CoH, it really fails to impress me and entertain me as much as its predecessor. In my opinion, it's not worth the $60 price plus whatever Commander DLCs you want to add to that for additional purchases. This is a $20 game and $30 at best. Maybe in a few months/years when all balancing issues have been fixed and unique commanders have been put out it may probably be worth playing. You're better off playing Men of War or the playing the Eastern Front mod for CoH. For now, I'll just go back to playing CoH... but... wait... even that's broken too. Server side that is.    … Expand

    Excellent multiplayer game. Very long campaign and Theatre of war collection make the game valuable and worth the money. The weather and vision system are excellent additions to the game.

    Beutiful graphics, great engine, wonderful gameplay, and the most important- excellent plot. Fiction is fiction, but THQ really showed how CCCP really played their game, including some truth to their storyline. 10/10 Enjoyed the game, and so I'm hoping for THQ to keep up their level!

    Relic took the best RTS ever made (COH) and improved it to make the new best RTS ever made.

    The game mechanics are unparalleled squad control and AI, enemy AI, map and strategic point structure, weather effects, line of sight, cover, and balance, to name a few. The graphics are amazing as well, and much more polished and fluid over COH 1.     I am somewhat disappointed with this game. It is okay, so-so, not a great game, not worth the full purchase price which I paid...but it isn't horrible, and definitely doesn't deserve a rating of 0, 1, or even 2 under any circumstances, in my opinion.

    There doesn't seem to be too much improvement in the graphics or physics (I run this at max settings with a GTX 780), the campaign    I am somewhat disappointed with this game. It is okay, so-so, not a great game, not worth the full purchase price which I paid...but it isn't horrible, and definitely doesn't deserve a rating of 0, 1, or even 2 under any circumstances, in my opinion.

    There doesn't seem to be too much improvement in the graphics or physics (I run this at max settings with a GTX 780), the campaign missions get boring pretty quickly, there are still game-breaking bugs, lots of retarded, childish abilities (like being able to summon a blizzard? Come on guys, that's not tactical or "authentic," that's just gay), the units are not realistically balanced (in the game, early in the war, you'll have difficulty fighting 1:1 ratio German tanks to Soviet tanks, when in reality, German tanks smashed much larger forces of Soviet tanks with less casualties for the first few years of the war).

    There's also not enough new features or gameplay innovations...which is fine by me, but if you're going to keep most things the same, AT LEAST IMPROVE THE GRAPHICS, EFFECTS, ANIMATIONS and PHYSICS A LOT!!!

    Finally, a word about the campaign. I am Russian, born in Moscow, but moved to USA when I was 10 I am 13 years old now). The Russians aren't holy saviors and the Red Army weren't saints! My own great-grandpa (who fought in the Red Army all the way from Kursk to Berlin) told me how he and his friends ATE a German soldier. The Russians raped 1,000,000+ German girls (read or watch Anonyma: Ein Frau ein Berlin, a German girl's true story about the Russian occupation) and also raped thousands of Chinese girls when the Russian Army destroyed the Japanese Army in Manchuria. Did you know that 600,000 Japanese soldiers were enslaved by Russians, many of whom died in Siberian slave camps (gulags)? Look it up, even the Wikipedia article "Soviet-Japanese War" will tell you where to look. Lots of Japanese girls who were relatives of the businessmen and bureaucrats that were transferred to Manchukuo the Chinese puppet of Japanese empire, were raped when the Russians "liberated" China. USSR and Germany had a secret pact to divide Poland; USSR turned a blind eye to Hitler and only reacted when they themselves were attacked. Read about Stalin's "great purge," when many top-ranking Soviet generals were removed from command in 1939, some of them brutally executed! Want to know why Russians lost so many men vs. Germans? Because they had no leaders, because Russians couldn't stop killing each other, even at the TOP levels of government and military hierarchy!

    So please, none of this "evil nazis" and "Russian good guys" There are NO good guys, anywhere: Brits are not "good guys," Americans are not "good guys," Japanese and Chinese weren't "good guys," Russians and Germans ESPECIALLY were not "good guys." If you believe in "good guys" and "evil nazis" then congratulations, you have swallowed the propaganda. A quote from Harry Potter: there is no "good" or "evil," there is only power, and those too weak to use it...

    So yeah. My score, 6/10, has NOTHING to do with campaign story and EVERYTHING to do with an underwhelming deliverable. This feels like an expansion or a DLC pack, not a true stand-alone game deserving of its price or professional praise (from corrupt game review sites that get paid for 10/10)    … Expand

    I can agree that there were facts of war crimes and cruelty, but war was won due to people heroism and Motherland love. Seems scenarists concentrated only on bad facts they read in books of cold war period.

    As a CoH1 old timer, this is the biggest let down in gaming history. They missed almost everything good from coh1. Instead of a 7 years experienced starting point, they started from scratch, and the game suffers the same gimmicks, bugs, unbalance that CoH1 had on day 1, wich is totally unacceptable for a sequel.     Gameplay is ugly and slow. Multiplayer either wan't start at all, or breaks just at start. Got moneyback next day after purchase.
    I recommend authors read at least wikipedia before starting next "historic" game. And buy a book at amazon about game development will be also helpful.

    Relic Entertainment cleared the hurdle the original game set as far as I'm concerned. Tweaking, remoulding and teasing out the underlying systems of the original, and then layering things like cold weather, may not set the world on fire like the original Company of Heroes did but it's still a solid strategy game and with the right support and continued release of content I can see it living on for quite some time.

    Everything its predecessor was: an intense and enjoyable RTS that gives you the feeling of really being an armchair general. It is just unfortunate that after waiting so long for a sequel, it doesn't offer too much in the way of innovation.
