Kane's Wrath's worst sin is simply a failure of imagination. By playing it safe, the Kane's Wrath team has crafted a decently enjoyable but ultimately forgettable experience.
-
While most will be more interested to see where EA LA takes the ideas they've played with here next, there's much more for a C&C fan to get excited about than imagining Natasha Henstridge is talking to them. Although that is pretty exciting.
-
Regrettably, Kane's Wrath doesn't exactly do a good job of delivering on the kind of epic single-player experience you'd hope to get after an excellent campaign from the previous game.
-
Unfortunately, there might not be enough of any one thing to really satisfy casual fans and justify the asking price. Devoted purists will get their money's worth, but those just interested in a new set of missions might be let down when they burn through the campaign quickly.

If you enjoyed Tiberium Wars then you should take pleasure in what is essentially more of the same. Kane’s Wrath delivers just enough in single player to make it a must buy for fans of the series, or for anyone who enjoys a good skirmish.
-
AceGamezThere have been no improvements made to the shoddy multiplayer implementation in the intervening year, which is still rife with disconnect and synching issues - long before you get to the complexities of unit balancing.
-
But there is a sense of ennui here. Kane’s Wrath adds a couple of nice things, but where "Asian Dynasties" played with the conventions of "Age of Empires III", and "Kingdoms" further emphasized the great parts of "Medieval 2: Total War", this expansion simply walks along a path that was already clearly marked.

Play (Poland)A masterful example of expansion that leaves the game essentially unchanged. If it's good or bad, depends mostly on what you expected from your purchase. I expected more bang for my buck. If you wanted more of the same, lucky you - that's what you'll get. [May 2008]
-
Overall, Kane's Wrath feels like a final opus to the 'good old days' of the PC RTS. It's good solid fun for the hardcore RTS fan, but a huge pain for anyone that wants something more casual.
-
PC FormatAn expansion pack for the C&C fans who still hunger for new units, which adds a forgettable campaign and a minor ocnquest map. [June 2008, p.98]
-
games(TM)No concessions are made for anyone other than diehard real-time strategy fans and it does seem a little unfair that the difficulty is so high. [June 2008, p.117]
-
PC PowerPlayThis isn’t the greatest expansion in the series, but it remains 100% Command & Conquer and that counts for a lot. EA knows their fan-base and with Kane’s Wrath have dished up more of the same to ensure you get your recommended daily dose of the franchise. [Jun 2008, p.55]
