"Coffee Talk" is a visual novel, there is no argument about that. If you dislike visual novels you will not enjoy this game. I don't really consider "Coffee Talk" a game. It's a visual novel that gets occasionally interrupted by a mini-game where you choose three ingredients for a hot drink. If you like you can draw a smiley face on it, or an eggplant, but just like the drink itself it's more or less inconsequential.

The game doesn't even acknowledge when you find receipts on your own, and updates the ingame

If you like you can draw a smiley face on it, or an eggplant, but just like the drink itself it's more or less inconsequential.

The game doesn't even acknowledge when you find receipts on your own, and updates the ingame version of their social media profiles of a customer if you get it right. Those profiles are, once more, mildly interesting at best. What would you expect from people who think of you as their best friend because you didn't screw up pressing three buttons on a machine and drew genitalia on their espresso?!

At no point during the dialogue - that has no respect for anyone's time, especially not the player's - my general feelings towards "Coffee Talk" went beyond "mildy entertained". I enjoyed the artstyle and the music, but the animations were sparse and made some of the customers look like I put far too much caffeine into whatever they ordered. Especially the first customer you meet looks like she is constantly having seizures since the animation is just stretching her upper body, while her arms were left in place. Others have the same constant random hickups. It doesn't help that everything else is so serene and relaxed.

The lackluster writing also damages the ambitions to grapple some heavy handed social issues. Can you really highlight racism in a scenario where people are actually different *species*? Species where "They are all bloodsuckers" is not a stereotype, because it's a fact? But never mind, since the stories themselves drown in endless smalltalk, and the nicest thing I can write about it that the experience is too short to become offensive.

But it certainly didn't leave any lasting memories or even food for thought. If you have some time to waste and want to read some soap-style drama, combined with a decent ambiance and occasionally throw a drink together, this one won't fail you. But don't expect more from it.

Fantastic music, fantastic art style, fantastic characters and well written storylines. The sudden plot twist at the end kind of came out of nowhere, but still an overall really enjoyable experience.

Coffee Talk is a comfortable visual novel about, well, coffee and talking. You serve drinks to magical creatures and listen to their worries each night whilst chill music is playing on the background. That is basically it.

I do feel like the game needs some more substance to be better. After unlocking every possible ingredient after a few in-game days I was left a little disappointed.

I do feel like the game needs some more substance to be better. After unlocking every possible ingredient after a few in-game days I was left a little disappointed. It would have been nice to maybe be able to upgrade the coffee shop or create custom drinks, just to have something more to do. Since this particular visual novel does not let you affect the dialogue in any way either, it becomes rather easy to feel like you're not actually doing anything.

However, Coffee Talk looks and sounds very good, and everything from coffee making to creating latte art seems well thought out. Even the different phone apps are detailed despite not being an integral part of the game. Definitely one of the comfiest visual novel experiences out there!

It's an immersive experience for sure as I don't remember the last time playing a game and being like "wow where did the time go? Been playing this for hours". If you're looking for a new experience this is a good option. I also love the art style a lot. Overall a fun, unique and thought provoking experience.

In general, this is a very enjoyable, short visual novel with slightly non-linear gameplay that can be completed in one evening. There is not much gameplay, it is organically inserted into the game and it does not bother, but most of the recipes have to be taken from the Internet. Expand

I like this game because it is simple and easy to play .It is quite refreshing from the normal games like your normal action /adventure games and is a simple fun and easy game to play that you simply make coffee and talk to customers.

Coffee Talk is a relaxing visual novel, it is gentle and comfortable. But gameplay is a little boring, just make coffee with three ingredients. I want it to be more impressive, like more mini games. However, I like the Graphic and Sound, it is very good. I hope I will play a better game from Toge Productions.

    Minuses
    - The game is a movie,
in this production the only thing we can do is coffee, we cannot choose what we want to say (luckily what our barista says is balanced and most players will like what our character says)
    - There are few hints for making coffee, there are many recipes and you have to discover them yourself, which can be difficult
I personally fell in love with this game, watching all the conversations and making coffee allowed me to forget about my own problems and feel much better, the game also has many messages.

Coffee Talk is a pleasingly creative game with a lot of heart and hidden depth. During my playthrough, I felt like I was curling up with a good book under a blanket, sipping a warm beverage. Every once in a while, we could all do with that relaxing way to pass the time. While I was regrettably late in playing this delightful title, I’m eager to give Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly an earlier try! After all, if it is anything like its predecessor, it’ll be a title to talk about with a warm cup of coffee close at hand.

If Coffee Talk was standing on its own in a void, I would call this game a must play, no questions asked. The need to grind out recipes to figure out how to unlock the full story is frustrating, a stain on everything else in the package, but by the time I got to this point I had already fallen in love with the characters and aesthetic. The problem is, everything here has been done before, and better. It does feel like Toge Productions wanted to craft a homage to Valhalla, but doing so puts them right up against a cult classic. I truly think that they should have done more to differentiate themselves, to stand out more in this burgeoning genre.

This is one of those unique games that we really enjoy. It’s perfect if you just want to enjoy a bunch of stories that feel human and real, even if they are part of a fantastic universe.
