Suffering from an identity crisis, Choconoa lacks the charm it needs in order to succeed, being frustrating at worst, and forgettable at best.

Dual-shock controller was not recognized no matter how hard I tried, so I played with keyboard and mouse, though it was more just keyboardDual-shock controller was not recognized no matter how hard I tried, so I played with keyboard and mouse, though it was more just keyboard because any movement made the mouse controls futile.
The levels are monotonous, janky, and very repetitive. The control scheme can't be changed at all so I was forced to use a more archaic control scheme than the 1993 release of DOOM for DOS. Adding to this, the perspective combined with the texture-less grounds, and unhelpful shadows meant that landing any jump felt more like landing a passenger plane with no wings.
Admittedly I only played the 4 levels in the first world, and the game could transform into a masterpiece afterwards, but my experience was nothing short of a crash bandicoot clone made in a weekend long gamejam.
