First of all Campaign has been a **** show for me with cut scene frame drops which make it unwatchable so I don't know what the **** is going on! I leave it and they finally bring a patch out a month later when my hype is gone but I still play to find it's an SJW's wet dream. You've got anti Russian propaganda, three women army commanders when pretty much none exist so it ain't believable to me, trying to fit in all racial backgrounds when it just does't need to be there, the story line is poor. What I will say though is that the level design is great and comes as a real surprise to a COD game and this is one of it's best points, your not fighting an entire army every mission now and they're really well thought out and you have unexpected moments which make you feel your in the game and I prop IW for this.

The multiplayer.. whoever designed these maps should be fired and never work for a studio again my left toe could come up with something better. Your getting shot from 725 different angles (pun intended) and it's designed to be the most campiest mess there is, I feel IW is at fault as well though because in interviews they're basically saying they want it noob friendly and I quote 'safe spaces' for new palyers... ****ing really? get a grip for **** sake how soft is that, if you're starting a new game of course you ain't going to be great but it's all about the experience to making yourself better and then that gives the player satisfaction. So doing that a better player now suffers. There's good things like weapon detail and customisation plus weapon challenges (when they work and not buggy) which is nice, I prefer to play ground war even though it's a complete rip off of battlefield conquest even the tanks etc are ripped off when they just don't work in a COD game, you have it as a kill streak so why add base tanks to spawn its because they had to copy everything to attract battlefield fans (battlefield isn't doing well at the moment) just like black ops 4 did last year copying the BR's to get their fans

I would wait before buying until sales or not at all not until we see what they do with their content, at least they don't have loot boxes (yet) and they have free maps to release which earns them points although considering it's the same people who made the base one's so I'm hoping for some MW2/3 remastered maps down the line.

Visuals are fantastic, and sound design is one of the best in the business. The story however lacks any real depth, it brings nothing interesting to the table. Villains are as cardboard cutout and boring as most of the messages the game is trying to smash you upside the head with. America good. Russia bad. War sometimes bad. Using highway of death as reference but plastering the Russians as the perpetrators, that's fairly low even for the CoD standards. I mean props to the developers for recreating the real world events, but they missed the mark by not showing at least some shades of grey to all the factions. That said it is nice that the protagonists native to the middle east are shown in a more complex light. And are certainly the strongest part of the story for it.
Moving on, to the Spec Ops modes.
The survival modes are completely unplayable by one person, and bullet sponging enemies put first Division to shame. They become a boring unenjoyable mess almost immediately.

Now for the multiplayer. Main reason for myself to buy it. As a Veteran of the series. Starting with World at War, through MW2, Black Ops, MW3, up to Black Ops 2 up to abysmal Advanced Warfare where my experience with the Multiplayer and call of duty in general ended due to its horrific design, story and general presentation. Not to mention from that point on wards broken multiplayer. I was excited to see what the remake has to offer in the online aspect. With it's back to the routes message and generally more grounded and realistic aesthetic. And the game does a lot right. Customisation of the weapons is excellent. Gunplay and visuals are top notch, and the developers have tried to mix the formula a little by introducing modes usually associated with other games. After spending many hours I have managed to completely give up on the whole game, I enjoyed it about as much as broken arcade claw machine. To pinpoint the major issues multiplayer has one must first look at the basic mechanics where game immediately falls flat on its face. Spawns are awfully thought through if at all, and that further emphasise the abysmal map design. It is complete chaos, there is no structure or strategy in any way. Formless mindless contest of who has the best net code and can drop shot the quickest. Every game mode and game type feels like free for all as there is no killzones or choke points or power positions. Enemies and friendlies are running around like headless chickens trying to hopefully flank the enemy before someone kills them from the side or rear. It is nerve racking, frustrating beyond ridiculousness and dumbs down the experience completely eliminating as much skill, planning, positioning and teamplay as possible. Furthermore, Jesus alone knows how the matchmaker works. My very first game at level 1 I was put in the game against entire team composed of players with level 100 or above. This trend remains and every single game I have ever played. I have been put in games with players with triple and quadruple gametime and level to mine. Resulting in the worst display of seal clubbing, spawn trapping and camping that has ever existed in any videogame. I have not learned anything about the maps, weapons, positioning or tactics in any meaningful way. To only later realise that there is none. Aside from seemingly endless supply of campers and Colonel Level 100 worthy no life having players, there is nothing.
To try to mitigate the clear disparity between the skills and arsenal of enemies and myself I have jumped in to Ground War, to discover that it is basically a Battlefield copy not a bad thing in itself. Playing objectives or supporting the team might give some satisfaction if you are still new and trying to grasp the maps, controls and unlock some weapons and attachments. Unfortunately is not a particularly a particularly good copy of Battlefield. Vehicles are idiotic and handle about as well and realistic as a tetris cube. There is no team play or any form of incentive to play objectively and cooperatively. No medics, no repair of vehicles, Rocket launchers are completely pointless, Javelin doesn't destroy a helicopter for example, and cherry on top of this lousy excrement infested cake, is omnipresent Camping. Because of completely awful map design, lack of any form of team based gameplay even in objective based massive game modes, camping is the only viable strategy.
    To conclude.
Do not get fooled with amazing graphic and brilliant gunplay, this is one of the most infuriating, poorly thought through, frustrating, dumb downed experiences CoD series has to offer. It is the best of all the "new" Call of Duty titles (Advanced Warfare and above) but that is like saying it is the least intrusive and unpleasant venereal disease. Do yourself a favour, buy it on sale, or don't buy it at all. It is alright at very best.

Frankly this does not deserve to be called "Modern Warfare". Original CoD4 Modern Warfare had well thought out maps with cover, choke points, clever lines of sight, and it actually had gunfights. In this one - no matter what kind of weapon or aim you have, if the enemy sees you first, you are dead in 1 frame.
Gunfight is cool mode, but the TTK still takes away any enjoyment of using the guns - gunfights are over within a few shots.
Oh, and kill streaks too, a plague introduced by MW2, just as OP as ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t like propaganda, but this one not even close to the real world. In the modern world, the image is formed through the media. Books, serials, games, movies, news. For those who are in the tank, even the news can no longer make real ones. In the United States, there was news the other day - Russian aviation destroyed a hospital in Syria. Azaza. What a bad news. And they do not mention that this is a terrorist hospital, underground and secret. They also do not mention that they built it out of French concrete (hello, France, because business is business). In 5 years no one will remember where and why. It's just that in the news, Russia is bombed by a hospital. When approaching a casual passerby in the U.S., one can ask a question: "What do you think about Russia," he will say something about terrorists, but from where he no longer remembers. For the stupidest country before the war, the United States is the most bloodthirsty before the war, selling weapons to everybody, coups d'état here and there (to sell even more weapons, even better when neighbors are busy with war than with development), and has a very different image. New game, same bugs / broken mechanics.

If it weren't for marketing, COD would sell terrible. The biggest disappointment is that the server processing lag still exists. This was the one issue they REALLY needed to fix, and they couldn't manage to do it. Because of this, character placement is not real time, bullet damage is variable and the server determines the outcome of everything,

Because of this, character placement is not real time, bullet damage is variable and the server determines the outcome of everything, not your skill.

Currently shotguns are being used as sniper rifles as they are 1 shot kills, HUGE hit box requiring little to no aim and fast. Snipers are catering those who love to lay in the corner and easily 1 shot people. Maps are pretty bad in terms of color and design favoring camping. Anything other than a shotgun or sniper rifle feels like your firing paint balls with hit markers.

The UI leaves A LOT to be desired with no uniformity or common sense layout. Many console and PC versions are crashing left and right. Both InfinityWard and Activision are not talking about fixing anything as i their minds, they feel that if they don't talk, nothing is wrong.

To unlock weapons, it is still the same old grinding levels rather than being able to earn in game currency and unlock what you use most. Furthermore, weapon attachments are even more frustrating as you need to grind MANY weapon levels to get the one attachment you may want.

Kill streaks now go through house roofs, so being inside during aerial streaks wont save you. There is NO minimap, nope no functional map at all in multiplayer. This will always leave you turned around, especially on larger levels which have no place in COD, especially with the low player count.

Many settings have no effect and require a random reboot to start working which includes social, voice, and anything that tracks progress of anything. Many missions and statistics are broken and straight up don't work.

What is InfinityWard doing? They already released on DLC and are currently marketing you to give them your personal info for a 30 min xp token that has yet to show up for ANYONE.

In the end, this is the same old trash with a new shiny cover. Year in and year out, the will continue to make hype videos followed by stealing kids money.

Call of duty was always a cinematic staged shooting gallery, but here it became just a shooting gallery, because an adequate and spectacular production was removed. Not a single epic memorable scene, not a single memorable location, half of the game in the dark, in underdevelopment. No large-scale military operations - just the most miserable monotonous shooting gallery in narrow corridors. The constant repetition of the same game-play situations. It’s not even worth talking about AI - it has never been and never has. What about the graphics?
This is still the same outdated cardboard engine that wanders with constant patches and improvements already from the first part, and to which marketers always give new names and expose as a new engine..

The game looks disgusting. Everything was as cardboard, and left. The lighting is terrible. The cutscene is a pre-render. This shame takes 120 gigs. Sound people do not feel the rhythm, so they could not emphasize the moments with music. In many places where music begs to the beat of action - silence.

As you can tell from my rating, the multiplayer is not the best. The main concerns are the broken spawn, lack of weapon balancing, and the overall feel for the game is sluggish. I know this game was trying to be something a bit different but all it feels like is a bad rip off of battlefield. This game clearly has inspirations from battlefield but battlefield 4 which came out 6 years ago is more playable than this COD's multiplayer. Going back to some of the other problems with the game, I'll start with the spawns. Now COD spawns have never been very good, I personally believe it has to do with the small maps of previous games, but that shouldn't be the case with this game because the maps are much larger than previous games. Their smallest map is on the larger side of previous games yet you can still have enemies spawn right next to you or just spawn camp you for the majority of the game. Then there is the weapon unbalance, while the majority of weapons are decent there is one or two weapons in the game that are just better than everything else. The main problem is the M4A1 which is the most busted weapon in the game by far, I would like to see anyone try and find a lobby where at least one person isn't using that gun. It is blatantly over powered and it was in the beta as well but the developers clearly didn't even bother to look over any feedback from the beta so the weapon still remains over powered that the time of writing this. There are also a few weapons that are beyond under powered in this game, which is the first two handguns and snipers. While snipers can do fine in ground war, they are obnoxious to use for the most part in quick play, the worst part about them is time it takes to scope in which is ridiculously long for a COD. And handguns in the game are really weak, I know that they are pistols and they should do less damage but they feel weak even for a handgun. Last thing I want to discuss is the games pacing which is also awful, the game is trying to both be a boots on the ground game and battlefield at the same time. Which results in maps that are two large in quick play and slower movements since normally when you play battlefield their are vehicles to get to different spots. Also going off of that I know there are vehicles in ground war but they feel awful to drive in the one map they have for that mode. I believe the biggest problem of this game is that it is trying to be way to many things. The different modes they have just feel like cheap ripoffs of other games. Take cyber attack for instance, it literally in just trying to be a worse version of R6. I believe all of these different things that the game is trying to be has caused the overall game's pacing to feel bad. It's pretty standard for the user reviews on new COD to be low cause it's pretty standard to dislike COD now since the majority of their games are disappointments in one way or another. I personally never would have ever thought of writing of a review for a COD since I actually had a lot of fun with the last game and I feel like with the exception of the micro transactions which were awful it truly felt like a call of duty game. But this game just feels like a cheap battlefield, something like battlefield hard-line. I really wanted this game to be good since I do enjoy fast paced first person shooters but this game just doesn't feel good in any way, just go play R6 if you want a good strategy based shooter and play Battlefield if you want a better version of this game. Although this whole review has been rather negative I will say their is a few features that are pretty entertaining such as the mic filter the put on the game that makes it sound like MW2 and that you can hear people when you kill them but overall this multiplayer is flawed in more ways than one and I would personally not recommend buying this game. Please don't buy this game.
TLDR: Multiplayer has major balancing and pacing issues and just feels like a cheap ripoff of battlefield instead of attempting to capture the feel of old CODs. Just buy Battlefield 4, literally just a better version of this game.

While this CoD game has has one of better gunplays and gameplay as of late within the series, it became samey, and technical issues even on decent hardware do not make it better and are outright infuriating in multiplayer. The multiplayer is the usual for the series past CoD:MW3 - weapon balance is a joke and the "community" even more so. The "story" is a trainwreck, however. The multiplayer is the usual for the series past CoD:MW3 - weapon balance is a joke and the "community" even more so. The "story" is a trainwreck, however. Foolish as it is to care about the story in CoD game, it's part of the game. It's continuation of effortlessly making worse and worse story after CoD:MW3 (or arguably, CoD:BO). Russians are the villains (again) with no sensible explanation (again). Sure, other games had them as villains too within and without the series (CoD4 and Singularity, respectively), but there was an explanation of who exactly these particular Russians are (ultranationalists and remnants of brutal regime, respectively). This time it's based on real events, with few... twists, lets call them that. It has similar beats of it from the original Modern Warfare (CoD4), but is a lot more like propaganda this time. Chem attack by Russians, really? Not to mention that it's extremely cheap trick - it's the obvious - but it even isn't the first time within the series. Even with other nation, fictional or otherwise, instead of Russia it'd be too much, unless it's a particularly extreme nation such as certain forbidden one. Instead of all that propaganda-like story, they should just make that "Murica, f**k yeah!" song play for the entirety of campaign and overuse special effects like lens flare and explosions - it'd be at least amusing instead of making others question your moral standarts.

In other words: don't bother buying - it's not worth it.

And thank you for digging your own grave of criticism, IW and Activision. You truly are the kings of that.

It’s hard to tell why there was so much ado about single-player campaign: controversial topics aside, it’s completely mediocre. On the other hand, the multiplayer mode is one of the best in latest instalments of Call of Duty series. [Issue#241, p.49]

It’s undeniably well-made albeit controversial part of the series. One that tries to break the mold and open itself to another kind of player. It’s worth of praise, even if just for that. I recommend it especially to Battlefield players – you may be pleasantly surprised. [13/2019, p.50]

Modern Warfare is not a stellar game, but decent first-person shooters about modern conflicts are so few and far between that it’s surprisingly satisfying.
