    The only modern call of duty I've ever purchased and a huge mistake on my part. I couldn't even finish the campaign it was so "Michael Bay" ish. Obnoxious needless action over and over again coupled with a very poorly told story which was mediocre at best.

    Even the multiplayer is crap. I dabbled for a little while and found that there was a clear and dominant play style that was best    The only modern call of duty I've ever purchased and a huge mistake on my part.     Even the multiplayer is crap. I dabbled for a little while and found that there was a clear and dominant play style that was best for every cramped map this idiot game had to offer. The original call of duty had submachine guns, heavy machine guns, snipers, bolt action rifles, and semi autos that all had their place in the battle. Now the gunplay is assault rifles assault rifles assault rifles with your occasional variation of long rifles and submachine guns. Plus the idiot gimicks that reward you for kill streaks (just like real war! If only I'd known that when I was on duty).    … Expand

    This is an average game, an average game with an average (yet short) story and an average multiplayer. Also in this review does not include 'Zombies' because... I do not intend to play that part of this game! The Multiplayer is the average "shoot that guy who is trying to shoot you because he wants XP and he has nothing better to do" and the story is the "Let's get a piece of and polish it with a short story line"...
    If it was up to me, do not buy the Call Of Duty series new when the come out, wait for them to be pre-owned and buy them for £2-6...    … Expand

    Awesome campaign, very interesting story and the missions were very fun. Unfortunately the multiplayer was terribly made and lagged something terrible, not only that, all the servers are ground war, which sucks, and nearly all the ones people play in are 24/7 Nuketown. The sniping doesn't work very either.

    This game has so much potential but the main campaign is a joke you can beat it in a day go to bed that night wake up in the morning and you will not know a single character's name none. All this is is Cod4 reskinned with some new guns and a new layout mind you Cod 4 is considered a masterpiece by a lot of people so that is where some potential shines through this fest. The single player is such a joke the A.I. in this game is abysmal they just let a retarded squirel orgasam on a keyboard for there pathfinding there can be a few good moments in it BUT I WOULD EXCEPT A LITTLE MORE THAN A FEW DECENT SET PIECES FROM ONE OF THE BEST SELLING FRANCHISES EVER. In Cod4 they upped the drama with having a nuke drop on your head and forcing you to try and survive but it doesn't matter what you do you will die thats original BUT THIS GAME IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THAT JUST MILKING THIS SERIES UNTIL ITS STAR WARS i get that it would be hard to up the ante after have a nuke dropped on the players head but to not even try is pathetic you activision for whoring out this series to the point its the laughing stock of all most gamers this is the hooker you see whos giving a blow job for 5 dollars in a back alley to anybody she can find maybe you even took one once and it was pretty good but now shes 70 and just look pathetic and is pathetic and should just be put out of her misery.… Expand

    Not bad, not perfect. It does have a large variety of weapons, great situations, a great ending and so on, but why hate it? Yeah, its not the Holy Grail of gaming but its fun! Just because its a Call Of Duty game doesn't mean its going to be yet another terrible game, and I admit Nazi Zombies, World at War etc are better, but this has a smooth feel to it and isn't cheesy like other CodNot bad, not perfect. It does have a large variety of weapons, great situations, a great ending and so on, but why hate it? Yeah, its not the Holy Grail of gaming but its fun!     I actually don't mind this game at all. I liked the campaign for what it was. It wasn't too long and not too short. Zombies was especially dead ops arcade. I also like Ascension. That was my favorite zombies map in this game. Moon in my opinion was too much. I like how they brang back the classic maps. Made me happy. The multiplayer as is, is what it is. It's not as bad as I initiallyI actually don't mind this game at all. I liked the campaign for what it was. It wasn't too long and not too short. Zombies was especially dead ops arcade. After I passed couple of missions I understood that it something new and founders actually became reasonable and do excellent game, I only hoped that further game won't go on nakatanny down, and will be at the level of the first missions. Now, I will admit that I like the Call of Duty games, but this is one that is mostly mediocre to me. The campaign was very stereotypical and did nothing spectacular except for the Vorkuta and WMD missions. Also, the multiplayer made almost no improvements from MW2I find the game a fair FPS, however, it is not too special. In my opinion, it is the worst of the main Call of Duty games. Also, I found it cool how you could customize your soldier with face paint and change their appearance based on the first perk. On PC, the rudimentary and outdated dedicated servers system was introduced, and I hate this fact. Still, the game re-introduced hilarious and interesting Zombies mode.     Always the same **** SP sucks as always, MP ts based too much on chance. All you can do is increase the chance of doing well in MP if you are skilled, but you will still die too much because of all the **** running around with noobtubes and knifing everyone.

    This game is great because of the Zombies mode. If Zombies had its own review page I would give it a 9/10. But for the Campaign and Multiplayer I would give it a 2/10 because I quickly got tired of it and the Campaign was so awful it made me cringe. Well, what's to expect from a Call of Duty Game these days.

    The campaign was boring and really short; it was also not much of a challenge even on the higher difficulties. Zombies was okay, but for some reason I felt like I was playing MW2 again.

    My brother bought black ops from games stop . i thought it sucked because the zombies and the background suck it did and fyi the zombies sucked too . but i was wrong the story was epic and the game rocks . grade A+

    Now that the game Call of Duty. The story really is WOW, and just draws you in true sense. In my opinion worth playing. It really is very FUN. I recommend.

    I have to give Call of Duty Black Ops a positive review as it is one of the most memorable and best games available to console in the Call of Duty's Series. This game has provided hours and hours of fun for me and my freinds as it has awesome multiplayer gameplay, fast action on Nuketown and Fireing range, and overall a good killstreak system. I loved the various weapons in which wereI have to give Call of Duty Black Ops a positive review as it is one of the most memorable and best games available to console in the Call of Duty's Series. This game has provided hours and hours of fun for me and my freinds as it has awesome multiplayer gameplay, fast action on Nuketown and Fireing range, and overall a good killstreak system. I loved the various weapons in which were available to you and how the interface worked in order to select primary, secondary, lethal, tactical, perks etc. This Game is a big success in the COD series and honestly implemented a completely different feel to Multiplayer and Single player gameplay, the Zombies is also great and i love the Resurrection DLC in which adds the old World at War zombies maps such as Deir Rise and Shino Numa, as well as moon in which gives a different take on Zombies. Good work Treyach and Activision on this release as it is a game in which can be played and played over and over and give the user an overall wonderful exsperiance in which a FPS should have… Expand

    Call of Duty: Black Ops is, generally, enjoyable in terms of game play -- if not for the annoying bugs, lack of objective information displays, and almost incomprehensible story. Thankfully enough, the story wrapped up nicely before the ending; leaving me astonished as the credits roll.

    Very good game because this game story is very beautiful. And characters good. Mason, Rez-nov, Woods... World War II, Cold War, Vietnam etc. In my opinion good game.

Call of Duty has some of the worst maps in FPS gaming, and literally the onlyI simultaneously like and really, really hate Black Ops. The multiplayer, on the other hand, was pretty damn bad, but it was still better then any Infinity Ward version. Call of Duty has some of the worst maps in FPS gaming, and literally the only map that didn't make me want to eat my own eyeballs was Nuketown- which may be one of the worst maps in any game ever. The outdated engine and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t damage model return, and while Treyarch learned from the mistakes made by Modern Cash Cow 2, even including a server browser, leaning around corners and dedicated server options. Black Ops has its own set of faux pas, like the use of the ballistic knife to turn into a Halo 2-style unstoppable, lag-teleporting juggernaut, and still no attempts to nerf sniper rifles, which persists into all later CoDs. If you absolutely MUST play CoD, Otherwise do yourself a favor and play something else. You're better off playing Counter-Strike, for ♥♥♥♥'s sake.… Expand

Pas eu la force d'aller jusqu'au bout (de l'enfer débilitant) de ce foutoir permanent (explosion - script - chute - effondrement - explosion - combat - script - chute) où l'on est qu'un larbin : debout assis couché donne la patte c'est bien mon chien !

    Black Ops has one of the most satisfying Call of Duty campaigns. It is definitely a short one; however, it is action packed from the start to last minute and has a compelling story line.

    Pros: + Feels like one of Michael Bay's great movies. + Action non stop, even the stealth segment have serious action. + Compelling story with nice twists. + Loved the different protagonists. + I    Black Ops has one of the most satisfying Call of Duty campaigns. It is definitely a short one; however, it is action packed from the start to last minute and has a compelling story line.

    Pros:
    + Feels like one of Michael Bay's great movies.

    The last Call of Duty game that is worth playing. The gameplay is fine and the Cold War setting is better than that in its succesors. COD games released after Black Ops are not worth playing.

Po prostu, jeśli ktoś uważa że najlepszą kampania jest ta z Modern Warfare (a przypadkiem nie grał w BO) to powinien. Multiplayer daje sporo przyjemności ze strzelania i jest naWedług mnie ,,Call of Duty Black Ops" posiada jedną z najlepszych historii (nawet lepszą od tej z MW) w historii serii. Żadna kolejna czy poprzednia część nie przyniosła mi tyle frajdy z odkrywania fabuły gry. Po prostu, jeśli ktoś uważa że najlepszą kampania jest ta z Modern Warfare (a przypadkiem nie grał w BO) to powinien. Multiplayer daje sporo przyjemności ze strzelania i jest na prawdę wciągający. Kontynuacja trybu Zombie z World at War jest jeszcze lepsza niż w tam tej części. Mam nadzieję, że tak w skrócie udało mi się przedstawić tego COD'a.     Call of Duty: Black Ops. Remember the numbers, or the world will be on fire. An interesting and twisted plot in which there are a lot of new characters, but also a couple of long-forgotten ones. After Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and plastic weapons in Black Ops, you feel like you are shooting from real weapons.

Сюжет - просто лучший, а вот последнюю миссию могли бы и лучше закрутить, как и концовку. Так же лучшее главное меню, которое я вообще видел. И по графону хоть какое-то движение вперед.Геймплей местами ужасен - поток бесконечных противников, которые тебя ваншотят - это кошмар. Но хорошо что таких мест немного. Сюжет - просто лучший, а вот последнюю миссию могли бы и лучше закрутить, как и концовку. Так же лучшее главное меню, которое я вообще видел. И по графону хоть какое-то движение вперед.

The only annoying thing was that the default fov is 65. But if you look around on the internet you will find a guide that helps you changing it into 90. The Most annoying thing by far was that for some reason it didn't read my save file proper and after restarting the game I had to restart also the story. But after all the problems have been fixed I could enjoy the singleplayer like no other. It was worth going through that as I really felt some of the characters growing to my heart!

    Zombiemode:
    The Zombiemode in this game is alot different from the second, it is harder and also in my opinion alot scarier than Number 2. If you happen to play on your own you can have 90 fov but as soon as you play online and/or with your friends it will stay on 65 fov. Which I find personally annoying. But it is still a good game mode to play in singleplayer mode. It is alot of fun.

    Multiplayer:
    Unlike other Call of Dutys this game has an actual Serverbrowser where you can search for a server of any kind to join. Most of them do not have any admins anymore but it is still alot of fun to play on them. In the Multiplayer mode you can change and keep your FOV from 65 up to 90.

    All in all this game is amazing, the graphics are still good looking and I had no problems running it on the highest setting. Although there is one thing I would like to mention. If you are german you will get the cut version because of Nazis and the Hackenkreuz. I do not know how much they cut out but I am pretty sure it must have been quiet a bit. I recommend you getting this game uncut from a key website. You will have the same fun as anybody else for a cheaper price!

    Which is one of my last points. This game has a great singleplayer, story and zombie mode. But for the fact on how old this game is and that hardly anybody still plays the multiplayer (compared to more newer cods anyways) I recommend to get this game on sale.    … Expand

    I can say for sure that so far the COD has one of the most intriguing stories in the whole franchise, showing something that COD had never done in storytelling at that pint and even today there is no other game in the franchise that has something like this (it's safe to say that the story has a little inspiration from films like Fight Club... or at least that what i think).
    As for the    I can say for sure that so far the COD has one of the most intriguing stories in the whole franchise, showing something that COD had never done in storytelling at that pint and even today there is no other game in the franchise that has something like this (it's safe to say that the story has a little inspiration from films like Fight Club... or at least that what i think).
    As for the gameplay... it has nothing really new in comparison to previous installments on the series, it is still a first person shooter in which you only shoot the same enemy in every mission, such like World at War, COD Black Ops is a violent and dark game, which is the only accurate depiction of war that this games had.
    Moving to the MP portion of the game (which is the game mode that most of the players only play) It's... ok... i guess. the player base on the PC version is not that big, and somehow i can say i didn't had problems finding a match.
    Level design on the MP reflects most of the main locations from the campaign, the DLC maps are 50/50, some of them had a really boring design and structure, the maps i did love are the cuban maps, they are colorful and the layout gives a lot of alternatives to attack the enemy team, rather than go into a straight line like NukeTown which by the way it is the worst map ever in COD history.
    This game's MP portion rather that evolve it's class customization it feels like it devolve, I can say it has some cool weapons but attachments are pretty lame and most of this attachments makes to improvement on your weapon's accuracy or damage, actually... the only attachments you can add are just iron sights and that's pretty much it. Perks are not that great and the only ones i use are steady aim and scavenger, and even with the steady aim perk you will still have a massive recoil impact... sniper classes are a joke here, they are ZERO accurate!!!
    The last mode is zombies, the fan favorite zombies... I'm not a fan of that mode... you just have to survive waves of zombies while collecting point to move to another area and each waves this zombies will handle more damage. There are a couple of maps i like because of their concept and liitle story, the one featuring Kennedy, Nixon and Castro was hilarious and the one that has George A. Romero as a boss fight.
    And that's it, that's all i have to say regarding Black Ops, overall the story and campaign were good and action packed, but the MP was missing something, like i said, it felt incomplete, the class customization needed more perks and attachments in order to feel as good as MW2.    … Expand

    The zombies mode is definitely the best part of this game. The zombies storyline is incredibly deep and complex and it is an extremely fun mode in general, especially with friends. The main multiplayer mode is okay and the campaign is pretty good. Overall, it's a good game.

    Overall gameplay and atmosphere is top tier.
    Story with the twists and well written characters, alternate history makes this game perfect.

    This was an alright experience but not that good of a cod game by their standards. My biggest complain is the horrendous AI that this game has to offer. Your friends AI are useless which is not a big issue because the enemy ai is only programmed to do one thing and that is to rush you while you shoot like the morons that they are.     This is a cool cinematic shooter, my favorite childhood game, the game affects 60× year, I did not see this early, and again the Russians are to blame. I'm Russian, but it was fun to listen as they shout in the game, and, please concern to Russian, OK?

    I didn't enjoy this game as much as I did while I play the COD: Modern Warfare game. In my experience, this game has many bugs + the story-telling has many gaps... 7hrs on record.

    The story is simply perfect. My only problem with the game was the less variety of weapons in the story. Multi and zombie modes do not interest me, so I did not add them to my final rating.

    Absolute Classic of a game. I played the story in 2019 and to this day its one of the best Shooter-Stories anyone can experience. Awesome settings, with great characters and lots of action, feels like watching a Blockbuster to be honest. Recommended!

    So far the best part for me.

    Very cool and fascinating story of 3 agents during the Cold War. The most beautiful storyline. The only disappointing thing is the checkpoint system, would it be like in MW2 :(

There was this one particular question that was roaming in my head right after I finished Modern Warfare series - how any other CoD installment is going to stand up against this monumental trilogy, especially Black Ops? The bar was simply set too high, I thought (and to be honest, still think). I worried Black Ops was going to wind up be a good but eventually an inferior game in comparison to Modern Warfare - did my concerns come true? Let's find out.

    In my humble opinion, the most important thing in any game is presentation and you can't think of a better presentation than the one Treyarch came up with. You don't even have to start the actual game in order to BEGIN the game - the main menu itself is already a part of the story, the immersion is cranked up to the maximum, you immidiately get hooked. Sure, it is not the first time the main menu is stylized to be a part of the game world (the first title that comes to my mind which did the similar was Medal of Honor back in 1999) but it is the first time the main menu is basically POV of your main character who is located in a REAL and RELEVANT in-game location. I think more games should adopt this approach (of course if their goal is to create a frictionless immersive expereince). Why is it so important? Because the moment I saw the main menu I knew the presentation of the rest of the game is going to be top-notch - I knew this game is going to be atmospheric, heavily story-driven, with great respect to details.

    Now let's talk about the story itself a little, shall we? As always the beginning is intriguing, the middle is a little bit dragged off and the last third is thrilling - classic. Maybe the only thing I had a problem with is this lack of chronological order - it was hard for me to keep the whole picture together with all the jumping back and forward in time. On the other hand this not so much linear approach gives it a kind of replayability because there is no way you are going to grasp all the nuances of the story in your fist playthrough. Oh, and yeah, I am not a fan of "prequels" - for example, my least favorite missions in MW series are the ones where you travel to the past to relive someone else's memories - I know it is kinda stupid but when I am in someone else's memory I don't feel like I have a choice, everything just feels too predetermined (for the same reason Better Call Saul will always be inferior to Breaking Bad for me. On the other hand I still manage to enjoy early Assassin's Creed tremendously though XD ). The problem is 90% of the missions in Black Ops are happening prior to your current situation you find yourself in but as I have already indicated maybe I am the only one who has a problem with that and to be honest not that big of a problem anyway. Of course the cherry on the cake is Fight Club / Shutter Island kind of plot twist which, let's be honest, we all knew was coming starting somewhere from the middle of the game and do you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. I can't say they made it too obvious, though one particular moment in one of the missions almost 100% spoiled it to me, I still had my doubts till the very end - it would be much worse if the plot twist came out of nowhere and there was no way to predict it (like in Heavy Rain, for example).

    So how Black Ops eventually stands up against the gold standard - Modern Warfare? Much, much better than I thought initially - of course it doesn't have the scope or the memorable characters MW has but it has a more intriguing story and a better presentation overall, it has its own style and soul which is very important for any piece of art.    … Expand

    This is arguably the best COD in the franchise, a must play. Best story, best zombies, best multiplayer. Graphics are also great. Although, I believe this game was best on console. The PC version that I have played is slightly broken, AI don't help and sometimes you grenade, shoot enemies with explosives and they won't actually die. 9/10

    WOW! This game was amazing! The action was GREAT, the story was GREAT, the characters were GREAT! This is a must play for seekers of amazing story and fps games and cannot be missed. My only issues was the audio which could have been worked on a bit more such as the ability to hear footsteps, better gun audio. PLEASE PLAY THIS GAME! THIS IS THE PINNACLE OF COD!

    30 Hours I tortured myself with this game.
    First I played the campaign on Normal, just to feel the CoD-Experience. Which I did not feel. The first time I played this game, I felt as I was playing an old arcade shooter, not optimised for PC. Everything felt clanky, old and even a bit weird. I never felt good or "at home".

    This game is WAY more active than it is on Xbox 360. They're are community servers which some of them being Un-Hacked. I had recently replayed this game again on PC and I had fun, I haven't had fun on this game in awhile.

Memorable maps and zombie mode, for example, I also really liked. I don't think I'll be alone, and from what I've heard, a lot of people eat a Black Ops mulcher just because of zombies. But when we return to classic multiplayer, the killstreaks, which are also some of the best in the series, are also commendable. Moving onto multiplayer, its pretty great too, it has really good maps and its balanced relatively speaking cause famas is broken, almost like its an AR 10 years older than the others, oh wait it is. But every cod has op weapons, smgs are all trash except for the mp5k and ak74u (wich is also a 1978 weapon :)) it introduced theater mode, gun game and has a currency system wich is not monetized so great! Zombies give u 3 maps wich are some of my favorites in the series, its pretty ez to pack a punch and they are fun to play solo (something that cannot be said for newer cods) 9.7/10 experience but godamnit treyarch!     Nice plot, but average mechanics. Treyarch had that habit of doing crappy sequences that really kills the flow of the game specially when you're playing on higher difficulties, and there's a good number of those in COD BO1. Still, I think it is worth to play it.

    pretty meh for a cod game but still good like a cod game it is fun and they have loads of different modes.

    Attention: this is just my opinion!

    Call Of Duty: Black Ops I - "Cold War !!!'' So, my opinion on this game. What intrigued me the most here was just the atmosphere and details of the Vietnam War. The game in particular isn’t the best and the worst, but in my opinion, this game didn’t impress me that much.     So, my opinion on this game. What intrigued me the most here was just the atmosphere and details of the Vietnam War. The game in particular isn’t the best and the worst, but in my opinion, this game didn’t impress me that much. The story of the game itself is so cardboard, the good facts and the history of the world were quite interesting and seemed, but the point is that the story is so simple. So speaking of the game mechanics as I noticed it was as modified as the helicopter and ship controls it was quite fun to try. The game looks similar to other World at War and Modern Warframe I mean visually it also looks like the details and weapons and everything else changed of course. The level design, really boring at all, doesn’t add up to the environment, but I’m not saying everything was at such a level that it was really fun to be like Vietnam and another place with very good action music. The weapons felt fake and cardboard at all, and the same with the sounds. Understanding the game itself is very complicated because you don’t understand most of the things that are going on because everything seems to be mixed up in the game’s story, characters and so on. The point is that in the game you are almost in the game just doing the same theme and action. The game is so very depressed that you are pressed for nothing more than just shooting at enemies who are very depressing to the point that as if this game were on veteran level, it would be brutally hard to beat, at least for me. The design of the game itself is definitely not bad, especially the cutscenes look interesting. As for the music in the game, there were moments that fit the level very well and involved you in the action.

    Call Of Duty: Black Ops I game itself is so pretty boring and doesn’t involve you in the story, characters and levels, this game really took a lot of everything especially the themes to make the game have different actions. I think the developers put less effort into the game, but I think if the game were all about the Vietnam War it would get really a lot of attention, at least for me, unless it’s with modernity. I would dedicate myself to this game 6/10.    … Expand

    I think from this game on, call of duty franchise started to repeat itself and fall into a yearly loop of cliches
    but about the game itself, it's the usual stuff you expect from any call of duty game and doesn't offer you more
    I give it a 8/10 because of its good story

    I actually think it deserves 95 but I can't vote 95 so I voted 100.The game is really good.Scenerio is very interesting,complicated and exciting.Characters are fine.Action ssequences are fun.If the gameplay was better I might have given it 100.Graphics are still good,they were probably amazing for it's time.

    Good cinematic moments, good gameplay, good story and good characters.

    You can play multiplayer with bots. And there is also zombie mode. Triple package.

    Pathetic example of a over hyped game. Its very obvious the developer did not beta test this game. People using high end gaming computers that are way over min spec can't run the game without massive amounts of stuttering/lag. Activision really let its fans

    The interface is wonderful. You have so much information immediately available to you. Google Maps always has a minimap in the lower left corner, which gives you a good overview of the area. Getting information about people gives you a clear, clear window. Hacking offers a menu with easily recognizable icons, so you always know what your button presses will do.

    Black Ops is one of the best first person shooters this year, and is a obviously must have for any action fan. Intense, gory and quite brilliant, maybe it's not refreshing but at the same time its a stunning game.
