Many thought Bubsy was lost to a legacy of shame obscurity after his cat-astrophic venture into 3-D, but he's been given a new shot at video-game stardom with his first release of this meowllenium: Bubsy Two-Fur!

Bubsy Two-Fur is the authorized digital download version of Bubsy's first two games, and the first official Bubsy release since 1997! Relive the games that started the notorious career of Bubsy Bobcat in their original incarnations, and experience for yourself the cat-titude and purr-sonality of the first gaming mascot to have a digitized (and unforgettable) voice, one whose words still resound in the minds of all who played his games: "What could paw-sibly go wrong?"

    Bubsy Two-Fur features:

    * Faithful emulation of the SNES version of both games packaged together in a single executable, letting you relive the games in their original glory smoothly on modern machines.
    * Save anywhere, any time! 9 available save slots per game means you can make your own checkpoints any place or time you want. No more typing in passwords to restore your progress!
    * Two controllers can be configured for keyboard or game controllers for co-op and competitive local multiplayer in Bubsy II.
    * 'Paws' the emulation at any time to help you save or load the game at the exact frame you want.
    * Steam Trading Cards featuring exquisite Bubsy comic book art.

The two games included in Bubsy Two-Fur are:

BUBSY in: CLAWS ENCOUNTERS OF THE FURRED KIND:

"I'm Bubsy. I'm tryin' to save the Earth from Woolies. No, Woolies aren't what you get from wearing cheap underwear! Woolies are space dweebs in flying saucers out to purrloin the Earth's supply of yarnballs. But enough about them. Let's talk about me!"

    * 16 megs -"Over 40 awesome animations. Five wild worlds. Countless furballs!"
    * 16 big levels -"An average of 300 screens purr level. Humongous or what."
    * 7 music tracks -"Just like goin' to the show to see a 'Furminator' movie."
    * Interactive cartoon -"Spend Saturdays playing cartoons, not watching 'em!"
    * More Sound Effects -"I plop. I boing. I splat. I need medical attention."
    * Gorgeous Graphics -"I'm prettier than Mel and Debbie Gibson combined."
    * Digitized voice -"Next, I'm gonna get my own 1-900 number."

    BUBSY II:

Defeat droves of dive-bombing penguins! Squash squadrons of flying pigs! Trash tons of turbo-powered sheep! It's all waiting for you in this wacky, whirlwind adventure through the Amazatorium!

    * Toys! Bubsy has his very own action toy bazooka, a diving suit and a smart bomb.
    * Thirty levels filled with a bazillion bad guys.
    * Freedom! Thanks to his own portable hole, Bubsy can roam through any world anytime.
    * Best Time or High Score - your choice.

This re-release of the infamous bobcat's original releases is faithful to the originals, which are underrated and overhated as is.

LOVE IT! Bought this game on Steam a couple days ago, and it's just way past cool. And it's also way past Sonic and Mario combined! ForLOVE IT! Bought this game on Steam a couple days ago, and it's just way past cool. And it's also way past Sonic and Mario combined! For starters, Bubsy goes super fast! Way faster that either Mario or Soinc! Even the camera can't keep up with him! He can also glide? I also like the animation. There are even special animations for whenever you die! Their so funny! Like sometimes Bubsy melts, sometimes he breaks into pieces, sometimes he or slowly drown. LOL! Speaking of LOLs, this game has hillarious comedy! I like the wordplay that goes into the level names. Overall, great game for all fans!

Don't forget to like and follow!

The fact that every button on a snes controller makes you jump is superb. Expand

Bubsy Two-Fur, as the name implies, includes two classic Bubsy games, Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, and Bubsy II. (I think bothBubsy Two-Fur, as the name implies, includes two classic Bubsy games, Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, and Bubsy II. (I think both were ported from the SNES versions.)

Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind was the first game in the Bubsy series, and arguably the best in the series besides Paws on Fire. A lot of the biggest complaints about this game are really easy to overcome. My biggest complaint is enemy placement and the one-hit kill system. However, Bubsy Two-Fur builds in a Save State system, which makes this a lot easier to deal with, and as long as you aren't easily angered by dying a lot, it's worth giving a chance.

Bubsy II fixes some of the issues with Bubsy: Claws Encounters, including adding a couple weapons and a 3 hit life system, and has all of the improvements Bubsy: Two-Fur's emulation system includes as well. However, the level design is a little funky and mazelike, and makes it (for me at least) less fun overall than Bubsy: Claws Encounters.

For both games, if you try to play them like Sonic clones, you will die and you won't have fun. Speed is in some ways your enemy, and the enemy placement and falling damage make it where it's probably best to play more like a stealth precision platformer than a speedrun. The controls are a little odd, but fairly simple and fun when it comes to it if you play around with it for a while. The glide move is incredibly helpful. Mastering it is largely key to playing well, allowing you to fall slower and both avoid falling damage and safely avoid more obstacles and kill more enemies. There's also another higher jump that will be needed in some areas but leaves you more vulnerable. The music in Bubsy: Claws Encounters is pretty good, and in both games, there's a really cool cartoony aesthetic that contrasts the "cool" vibe of a lot of similar platformers.

And if your fear is Bubsy will talk too much and annoy you, you'll be happy to know in both games that Bubsy only really talks at level title screens, with little quips that are just enough to make you chuckle and not so much to make you annoyed.

Overall, for the price, I'd say it's definitely worth getting. Despite the memes and the flaws, Bubsy was probably one of the better, more unique Sonic-esque platformers of the 90s, and Bubsy Two-Fur really helps address issues like frequent deaths from bad enemy placement with the save state system, making it a fun, lighthearted experience. It's pretty cheap, and it's fun. Might as well get it! After all, what could possibly go wrong?

its a great idea and some game mechanics are great, but it has a problem with the speed of Bubsy.
When you go forwards you almost immediately speed up to lightning speeds. the screen is to zoomed in so you cant see what is in front of you, and then you will die for sure. the hit detection is a bit messy, but i wont get into that. overall the game is a fine experience. nowhere near a masterpiece but it can be an enjoyable experience
