    Decent DLC. It has the most content of the 4 by far but also suffers from the most bugs and glitches. FPS will drop dramatically throughout about 50% of the levels which completely kills gameplay. The new weapons,areas, missions, and storyline are all great though. It would be the best DLC if only it were able to be played with a stable FPS.

It was succeded by the largely inferior Robot Revolution, which while fun to play added nothing new to the table that the first three addons did. Most notably, Secret Armory introduces some actual narrative to Borderlands, which famously lacked much in plot or any character interaction whatsoever, due to some problems behind the scenes. It also introduced us to Athena, who while absent in the sequel would be upgraded to playable in the Pre-Sequel. If you only buy one addon for Borderlands 1, make it this one. Expand

This definitely is irksome, making the content take a lot longer than it should. The content itself is fantastic, easily a 9. The tedium of driving through the Crimson Tollway for the 20th time drags the DLC down to an 8 out of 10. Expand

    This is everything the rest of Borderlands' DLC should have been: more enemies, more levels, more environments and vehicles, and a real appreciation for spectacle. Knoxx is just about everything great in Borderlands condensed into one DLC, and unlike Moxxie's Underdome and Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, actually delivers enough content to justify the price.

    The best of the add-ons to Borderlands IMHO. The same dark comic like graphics and outstanding humour are back with a good solid main story line. The time-limited shopping spree like scenario at the end made my greedy side salivate with the thought of all the uber weapons I would be toting. My only complaint with this add-on is the absents of the instant travel stations making travel to zones long and repetitive even with the aid of vehicles. Expand

    Pretty good expansion. We're given some new vehicles, enemies and the super rare pearlescent weapons. All of which are good. Even though I liked the expansion, I didn't think it was as good as the hype I've been hearing and reading. Great DLC, with more fantastic writing. A huge improvement over the previous 2 DLC's, this is a worthy addition to the Borderlands name. The lack of Fast Travel is my primary complaint.

    The Armory of General Knoxx is the third and panultimate DLC in the first Borderlands collection, not only being the satisfying and most sustenant of the DLC's so far but also being the most worthwhile, with an additional 11-level cap, loot area (that can be glitched to do over and over again), many new vehicles and more unique enemies. I firmly believe that this DLC alone allowed Gearbox to capture what they could in the forthcoming Borderlands 2, as you can see with the much more fleshed out Lance Cavalry. Although there is the unfortunate exclusion of multiple fast travel networks in the DLC (which only having one), and the story not mainly focusing on a Vault-specific but loot-oriented ending, this still can plenty enough of your time and focus to forgive these. General Knoxx himself is quite humorous at times, being a more sympathetic villain towards you despite his permission for you to kill himself so he can get off this planet. With the new pearlescent weapons and perhaps the biggest loot area of any Borderlands DLC (1 or 2), you will constantly want to keep coming back to this DLC, and replayability is a big deal in my eyes towards DLC content. IF you want to keep playing back to this DLC, no matter how many of the main quests you completed or how high of a level you are, no matter it's faults it is damn well worth the try. Expand

    In my opinion the second best of the DLC for Borderlands 1. (I liked Claptrap's Revolution best). True to the core game experience, but with a few flaws.

    The most frustrating flaw for me was the lack of teleporting waypoints. The starting point/home base of this DLC is basically in the center of one long highway. You can go north or south for a long way to access missions, and the journey can become tedious. This is particularly true at maximum level when your vehicle is easily destroyed by the numerous other vehicles on the highway. (At high levels your power is substantial, but so is that of enemies, and vehicles don't seem to scale appropriately).

    The story overall is fairly good, and the quests are satisfying. The battle against the main enemy can be highly frustrating because of medics healing the boss. Overall, I'm pleased that I bought this, but it is not quite as good as the base game, and after a few playthroughs of it, I'm less than excited to do it again, even when I'm happy to do the core game and claptrap again.

    Solid, but not great.

Secret Armory serves more of a continuation to where the main game left of. Showing events unfold after the opening of the vault and the Atlas corporations campaign to stop the Vault Hunters. You will find many old characters reappearing and some new ones that are quite important as well. Generally I think the story here is better told then the main game and the story itself is not bad, but their is still a lack of NPC interaction to make it a bigger step up. It has improved though.

    Gameplay: Secret Armory really adds a huge amount of content to Borderlands 1 then what was present previously. The level cap is gone up from 50 to 61, two brand new vehicles for players to mess around with, brand new equipment and a new rarity called 'pearlescent' for items that are rarer then legendary equipment, but more badass. Not only that, this DLC also set the gold standard for future Borderlands content with a proper endgame where now there's the armory to grab some sweet loot and a raid boss known as 'Crawmerax' who is very difficult to fight, but rewarding to kill. We do get a number of new enemy types as well older enemies with different sorts of Crimson Lance soldiers, Bandits etc. If you were to do everything this DLC has to offer, it would probably be roughly 6 to up to even 10 hours which is a really good length for a DLC and with the endgame it could be even longer. The new area of T-Bone Junction is quite interesting with some rememberable locations, but it returns to the overuse of desert zones again like the main game which is a little bit of a bummer. I also really didn't like the very lengthy highways that they added to get around the map since they go on for a lot of the map. Yes it gives a great opportunity to try the new vehicles out and they are really good, but it gets tiresome after a while. Added the fact this DLC does not have fast travel like Zombie Island and this one really needed it considering how stretched this map is.

    Sound and Music: Voice acting honestly was the best it's been in Borderlands 1 with Secret Armory with both new and old characters and the dialogue at times really cracked up. The sound fx are fine as well. Sadly no new music in this DLC. You jsut ehre the msuci in the main game, which is not a bad soundtrack and is immersive. I would of just loved to have had some new tracks, even if it was bare minimum.

    Performance and Graphics: The game ran pretty well for the most part, but I did get slowdown in a few areas at times that was annoying. Nothing sour the game, but a mild irritation. Graphics are still the cell-shaded art style and I still love it.

    Verdict: Secret Armory of General Knoxx was a great DLC for what it offers on the table. It adds new player equipment, vehicles to drive, Borderlands' first real endgame with a raid boss and the armory, funny dialogue and characters and many more neat additions. It had a few annoyances here and there, but it's a worthy add-on that I highly recommend if you enjoyed the main game and maybe the other previous DLC's.

    I'm very surprised by the positive reviews. People must love Borderlands regardless.

    This is, by far, the worst DLC of B1 and B2. It's a very lazily cash-in. I can't say it's as bad as being tortured by communists, however, it's very poor: - the game art has no character; it's the standard desert theme, mostly, a loooooooooooooooooong road, then a city section (where nothing happens)

    - the game art has no character; it's the standard desert theme, mostly, a loooooooooooooooooong road, then a city section (where nothing happens) and a jail... that's pretty much it;
    - the map design is atrocious; most of the game is just a single road; they didn't even care to make interesting parts in the surroundings;
    - the story, including the characters, doesn't have anything interesting - it's bland like the game art; all the Borderlands DLC typically expand on a funny character and/or story; this is essentially open the door/fetch the key/free the prisoner/kill the villain.

    but most infuriatingly, there are no outposts. there is a disproportionate amount of backtracking. and the sections in between are flat boring (they're just roads.

    Similar to The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, the story of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx seemed a bit more fun and interesting than that of the main game (General Knoxx himself was hilarious), but it's still far from impressive. Compared to the "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" DLC, "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" offers a lengthier experience with an alright story, though it didn't quite grip me as much as I had hoped. Nevertheless, one of the major highlights of this DLC is the significant roles played by Scooter and Athena, which adds a big plus to the overall experience.

    One standout feature of this DLC is the formidable boss challenge it presents. This boss can only be beaten in a group of four players and requires you to be at a high level. It offers a thrilling and intense encounter that provides a considerable test of your skills.

    Moreover, "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" is a must-play for anyone looking to venture beyond Playthrough 2. Beating this DLC enables level scaling, which greatly enhances the replay value and extends the enjoyment of the game.

    All in all, while it may not have left me mindblown, I genuinely enjoyed "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx." It provides a nice and satisfying experience overall, especially with the presence of beloved characters and the challenging boss battles. If you're a dedicated Borderlands player looking to expand your adventure and delve deeper into the world of Pandora, this DLC is definitely worth a go.

    This is by far the best of the three add-ons for the core game, and the most fun I had since I completed the main game last year.
  2. If you've been looking for a good reason to re-enter Pandora and start looting and shooting again, spending ten bucks on The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is about as good a reason as you're likely to find.
  3. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx does a great job of both extending the Borderlands gameplay and bringing new elements like creatures, weapons and the new level cap.
