I have completed the main story, have tested out all the game's main mechanics and I am very impressed, the avatar swapping is a very nice touch that makes the game a lot more re-playable since it really enhances the amount of freedom in what you can do. The story itself is also quite engaging, and feels like it's on the same level of depth as it's predecessor, although a bit shorter as it's taken a small backseat to the game's larger intent (No you don't actually need to complete minigames to progress if you're wondering) The whole minigame side is a bit of a controversial decision but personally I think it works really well, and provides a lot more to do than in Boneworks after completing the main story, even if slightly impacting the narrative, but I think it's been worth it so far.

Oh and don't get me started on the sound design, this game has done that part extremely well, and the score by Michael Wyckoff is absolutely amazing!

I will note I initially had some issues with object collisions, but it's seemed to be fixed by a recent update.

All in all, I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the original boneworks or is a fan of vr, but not to the general casual player who is prone to motion sickness, as this game will most likely make you paint your walls at times.

this game is better in all ways than the first one. the only minor nitpick is that the driving needs some work but the shooting is excellent and the guns feel good to shoot. There is a lack of content in the bone lab hub, but hopefully, the mods will improve this. finally, the story is nothing to write home about and you must read clipboards to understand which can get tedious.

BONELAB is similar to BONEWORKS but easily improves almost all mechanics and has very creative levels and an interesting story when you think into it. There are some bugs but are easily fixable as the game has only just launched. The game brings so much enjoyment to many and I am very excited for modding because it will make the game even more incredible. 10/10

Awesome physics, really cool ajusting your body to the characters, just really fun game at all and also provides a challenge, i think a little more teaching would be good

This is way buggier than BONEWORKS and shorter. It feels like quest ruined the game. It was rushed out with 4 hours of story at most and that is with utter confusion slowing me down. I really thought this game looked wonderful and was very excited for it but I'm very disappointed. This "sandbox" style game has very little continuity and once you're past the beginning stage you're open to explore between different hubs that give you little explanation of their purpose. It ends up feeling very disjointed. I could see a lot of cool stuff being created by modders but until the performance is improved I won't be playing it at all. I really wish there was an actual effort put into making a campaign for this game. The hype has been way overblown and a lot of the good reviews have me scratching my head. Expand

In my opinion this was my most anticipated game of the year. I loved boneworks. I loved the physics. I loved the smooth gunplay. I loved the story. The only thing bonelab takes from that is the physics, I had an incredible experience with the first hour of the game but once I reached the lab and proceeded with the rest of the game it was severely disappointing. With horrible motion sickness from the one minecart level and god forbid monogon raceway, it made me drop the game almost immediately. I would have to say the first 4 levels are pretty good with good level design good graphics and more. But it shoves the sandbox way down your throat as you have to complete all 6 activates before proceeding with the story. And speaking of story the story is absolutely horrid with no idea what's going on. In the middle of the game you have to collect some characters to proceed and the way the level design is put on when collecting said characters is horrible, I mean the first 3 character levels are good then it just stops with the good level design. I mean the only thing saving this game is the hot women but women arent enough I need hot men as well get some diversity in there.

TL;DR: Boneworks is better dont buy this

For every moment of greatness bonelab achieves it’s marred but terrible glitches, poor design choices and overall what can only be described as lazy development. The tools it gives to the community are priceless and will no doubt lead to the creations of incredible experiences from the amazing modding community. But from a gameplay perspective what stress level zero has put together is bad, honestly it’s terrible.
There will be moments of joy but those highs only serve to amplify the crushing lows that you will experience time and time again.

This isn’t a review bomb, I finished this game and I wanted so bad to love it, I kept hoping for it to get better, I kept hoping for it to function properly but time and time again it failed. The community has already created amazing things, but a game should be reviewed based on what the developers delivered from a gameplay perspective and in that regard bonelab has no redeeming qualities.

This game met my expectations fully. I absolutely love this game. it really feels like an updated physics system. the climbing has been updated to make it easier and less janky. The campaign is a little short but i think the other game modes, new avatar system and the mods make this game a must buy.

The game's single player mode feels so off-puttingly boring to play. It's as soulless as it gets. It feels like there's so much wasted potential, cool graphics and environments that seem to have been thoroughly disrespected by whoever designed the game's pacing. It's like you get through a level and at the end you ask yourself "that's it?".

    My favorite singleplayer VR Game

This game brought hours of fun to me, I've beaten the main story i have been going around the game finding capsules, I like finding multiple unique ways to kill my enemies with all the unique weapons When i found out how to mod Bonelab i installed many mods, I installed a custom avatar i also installed mods that broke the game (in a fun way)

A very great physics playground, with very great mod support for roughly infinite fun.
Base campaign mainly shows off new features, and doesn't have much of a story to it.

I've already played Boneworks entirely, and it was already a really really good game. Even if the lore of Bonelab is a bit difficult to understand, just watch a video to find that it is wonderful and very advanced.

If you start being bored by this game, which is understandable, a lot of mods are available. You can download new maps, new guns, new mobs... and this is not the end, it's more like the beginning. Thanks to Stress Level Zero for developing incredible vr games and creating amazing worlds. Everything is good in this game.

A G.O.A.T of VR gaming. The game is great on it's own, but even better with the easy to install mods.

Best game there was even on vr, game's really fun to play and it's nice to see comunity working on mods. The only Con is that the game is a bit abandoned, its probally because its mostly created for having fun on sandbox,

Also havee to say that the game feels like a re texture of boneworks with a bit of new mechanics.

A game that pushes VR’s boundaries. Strange, playful and committed to creativity, but intense if you're new to VR.

BONELAB is an incredibly interesting piece of tech with a terrible shooter holding it back. The physics barely work, the mechanics are cumbersome, and the puzzles are unintuitive and frustrating. There are a few moments where the combat can shine, but that’s not enough to make the game worth it.

Balance issues in combat and puzzles make Bonelab more of a physics playground with mod support than a well-done VR shooter.
