The developers of Blade & Bones intended their game as an entry in the style pioneered by Demon's Souls and perfected by its successors. Although its combat system clearly misses that mark, the game still manages to greatly succeed on other fronts including its Metroidvania design, wondrous world, open-ended exploration, cleverly hidden and densely packed secrets, and magical environment visuals. Players looking for robust, weighty battles with responsive and fluid controls will not find that here, but those craving a beautiful game that entices exploration of every nook and cranny and knows how to reward players with meaningful treasures and discoveries are in for a truly satisfying experience — so long as they remember to avoid the dreadful combat.

Blade & Bones wants to be like Dark Souls. But it lacks a good story, more interesting environment and a little more variety in combat system what is missing more than a high difficulty. In the hands of the right type of player who has enough patience and prudence, the result can be much better than slightly above average gaming experience.

As a “Souls-like”, Blade & Bones is too easy and simple, but it’s an adventure game which provides a big open-world and an intriguing plot.

That is what the concept was vs whatBlade & Bones is a bit of a mixed bag really, essentially what it boils down to is concept vs output. That is what the concept was vs what became of it. A good example is the combat, the combat is very basic, while still incorporating new features, such as: if the player and the enemy strike at the same time, it causes a knockback effect on both and no damage is dealt. Things like these are throughout the game, that being good concepts but medium to poor execution. The game does lack polish, and the devs don't seem to be doing much with it anymore, which is a real shame as the game had much potential in my opinion.

My recommendation is to buy it on sale, which I did myself, getting the game as low as $1.50.
