    Playing through it for the fourth time now, 2021. Games this good is not made nowadays. Damn its good. Gameplay, Setting (Rapture) & World. Together with TW3, Bioshock 1 & 2 is still the best game purchases I´ve ever made.

    Bioshock is one of those games which hold up even to todays standards, and it was very impressive graphically and story wise for its time. The whole story was truly enjoyable and almost movie like, because a lot of the scenes were cinematic in nature. It was this unique gaming experience that I will never forget. Tremendous game.

    Had relly good time with this game when it came out to macOS.

    Story telling is very good movie style storytelling and gameplay is very intence when you disable Vita-Chambers and you were bit dependet to mix ordanary wepons with plasmid when you fight brutal enemy swarms. only thing that i was not impressed was the pipe game hacking.

    this is one of my go to game when playing old games.

    I thought that BioShock would've been another generic shooter, but boy was I wrong. This game is an atmospheric gem of a game with some of the most inspired designs I've seen in gaming. The sound is eerie and really sets the tone for this dark and gritty world you're set in. Rapture is full of secrets to uncover and fun enemies to fight. Seemingly dropped off into a beautiful underwaterI thought that BioShock would've been another generic shooter, but boy was I wrong. This game is an atmospheric gem of a game with some of the most inspired designs I've seen in gaming. The sound is eerie and really sets the tone for this dark and gritty world you're set in. Rapture is full of secrets to uncover and fun enemies to fight. Seemingly dropped off into a beautiful underwater city just to uncover just how deranged the residents have become. Big Daddy fights are very fun for the most part, the Rosies being the least fun of the bunch.     A masterpiece. Even in 2023 feels and looks like a masterpiece. I played it on a release 16 years ago and replayed it now. It was like a new run, an awesome run.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game has one of the best openings of any game I've ever played. The sheer weight of just how lost and stranded you are falls heavily on you as you trudge through the environment alone. Immersion is amazing, would greatly recommend anyone who can stand a little of horror to play this game (it can be creepy sometimes), especially when it comes cheap in certain sales.… Expand

    Bioshock its a fantastic game! First of all I remember that it is a game from 2007. But even comparing to other games of this year it is amazing.

    The game has an immersive and dark history in a utopical and paranoiac world completely hide and unplugged from our own world. Soundtrack is great, lot of old classics from the 50th. The graphics are not amazing, but again I remember this    Bioshock its a fantastic game! First of all I remember that it is a game from 2007. But even comparing to other games of this year it is amazing.

    Soundtrack is great, lot of old classics from the 50th. The graphics are not amazing, but again I remember this is a 2007 game.

    I played the game a long time ago, when it release and replay it now, the remastered version, that 2K Games is offering to the players that have the original version. Their initiative deserves my full appreciation and my review was done above all else by thanking them for it.

    Nunca jugué a Bioschok en su época y siempre he tenido a alguien diciéndome que debería jugar la saga por x o por y. Que eran unos juegos buenísimos y que el primero me metería mucho en la magia, asique con este contexto doy mi opinión.

    Me ha parecido un juego bueno, tiene una ambientación, enemigos y personajes únicos.     Me ha parecido un juego bueno, tiene una ambientación, enemigos y personajes únicos.
    En general una dirección de arte y una atmósfera que en muy pocos juegos he visto, tiene momentos y cosas que la verdad estoy seguro que no se me van a olvidar, cosas como Andrew Ryan.

    Me ha recordado mucho a Fallout y Half life mientras jugaba, de hecho parecía que estaba jugando a una mezcla de estos dos, tenia la estética muy trabajada con estilo antiguo y macabro de Fallout, pero al mismo tiempo jugaba dando saltos y explotando cosas con 200 armas como en Half life, sin preocuparme mucho de la vida y de morir.

    En general no puedo decir mucho que no se haya dicho ya, me parece un buen juego pero se me ha hecho muy cuesta arriba, tiene un esquema de escala de poder bastante absurdo por ejemplo:

    - Al cuarto de partida ya habrás desbloqueado todos los poderes y armas que hay en el juego, lo cual te quitara como un poco el misterio de que habrá después ya que te enfrentaras a todos los enemigos y jefes del juego con lo que ya tienes y sin desbloquear nuevas mecánicas ni nada.

    - Los Big Daddys son un enemigo muy bueno en este juego, pero también es su maldición, aparecen muy pronto y necesitas buen equipo para matarlos, entonces el juego intenta que lo tengas todo lo antes posible para que puedas acabar con ellos, lo cual hace que un Big Daddy te aguante 7 escopetazos al inicio y 30 al final, pudiendo ser de la misma clase, lo cual te rompe mucho el gameplay y la inmersión con el juego.

    Y lo mismo pasa con cualquier enemigo, los humanoides aguantan un escopetazo a la cara en las primeras zonas del juego (cosa que tiene sentido), pero después los mismos humanoides con las mismas frases, ataques y todo te aguantan 5 o 6 escopetazos en el pecho, y esto ocurre porque no hay más enemigos en el juego ya que los Big Daddys los cuales son el enemigo más fuerte en lore y supuesta mente en gameplay son completamente opcionales.

    Es como que al incluir a los Big Daddys forzaron toda la progresión del juego y hicieron que a las 4h o así de jugar ya tengas un lanza granadas que te ayuda a matar cualquier cosa con facilidad. Y al estar los Big Daddys planteados como los enemigos más fuertes de ese mundo, el resto de humanoides son todos iguales exceptuando que los que están al final del juego aguantan muchos más hits. (No tienen armaduras, poderes ni nada que les haga destacar del resto de humanos porque te están diciendo que los Big Daddys son los únicos con poder)

    En resumen me ha parecido un buen juego por todo el apartado de guión, arte, inmersión y en general como experiencia visual, pero jugablemente deja muchísimo que desear y tiene fallos muy tochos incluso para su época.    … Expand

    Great story. The weapon types are very good and usefully. The atmosphere is awesome. The underwater concept is very successful. The controller are not bad. Just few control very useless and hard. After half of the game the hack game-play is very bored. But generally very good game.

    Atmospheric, Dark with amazing story line, nice characters and cool innovative gameplay.
    The game offers a pretty unique experience and is a must play in my opinion.

    One of the best games of all time.

    9.5/10

    A shame the sequels were not on this level.

    It was a cool game back in a day when it was released. Now, it seems fast, simple, quite slow and not as convincing as System Shock and Prey.

    Pros.: - The story, of course. - Actors. - Big Daddies and the Little sisters idea. - Idea of harvesting ADAM from the Little sisters.     One word: MASTERPIECE! Bioschock is one of the best games I've ever played, game play, storyline, sound, and graphics all top notch, loved the water effects. I put 9 because I expected something more in the final battle .

    Bioshock é perfeito e facilmente um dos melhores jogos já feitos. Rapture, tanto em seu conceito quanto na história que há por trás dela, a torna sem dúvidas uma das mais icônicas e bem feitas cidades de ficção científica já criadas.

    A jogabilidade apesar de relativamente simples, entrega ideias muito boas e cumprem muito bem sua proposta; a arte e a ambientação construída é    Bioshock é perfeito e facilmente um dos melhores jogos já feitos. Rapture, tanto em seu conceito quanto na história que há por trás dela, a torna sem dúvidas uma das mais icônicas e bem feitas cidades de ficção científica já criadas.

    A jogabilidade apesar de relativamente simples, entrega ideias muito boas e cumprem muito bem sua proposta; a arte e a ambientação construída é extremamente charmosa e imersiva; a história é muito bem escrita, te prendendo do começo ao fim, com um dos melhores plot twist que já vi jogando em um jogo.

    Vale a pena jogar nos dias de hoje? Zerei ele em 2021 e afirmo que Bioshock é um dos FPS que mais envelheceu bem e está por um preço acessível em todas as plataformas - até iOS.    … Expand

    Многие советовали мне серию игр Биошок, ещё даже до выхода Infinite, но руки дошли только в 2015. Взахлёб прошёл все 3 игрушки. Первый Биошок очень крут своей идеей: подводный город Восторг является свободным местом для художников, музыкантов и других творческих личностей, которых в наземном мире ограничивали политические власти. Однако ключевую идею говорить не буду, во избежанииМногие советовали мне серию игр Биошок, ещё даже до выхода Infinite, но руки дошли только в 2015. Взахлёб прошёл все 3 игрушки. Первый Биошок очень крут своей идеей: подводный город Восторг является свободным местом для художников, музыкантов и других творческих личностей, которых в наземном мире ограничивали политические власти. Однако ключевую идею говорить не буду, во избежании спойлеров. Любителям неожиданных поворотов точно понравится. Ценители искусства могут взять игру на вооружение. В игре большое количество интересных мыслей для размышлений, при загрузках играет хороший рэтро-джаз, мрачная атмосфера. Однако, если вы любитель мощных драматических моментов, то в игре таких мало, да и Биошок не стремится играть на эмоциях игрока. Как шутер тоже зайдёт не всем, всё вроде динамично, красиво нарисовано, отлично оптимизировано, но от геймплея чувствуешь некоторую усталость. В общем, игра для тех кто любит подумать о "высоком": об искусстве, о политике и о жизни, сюжет здесь однозначно хорош.     Confesso que no inicio é bem chato... Um pouco dificil e repetitivo. A medida que vai jogando e entendendo, o jogo fica viciante! historia show de bola. Um pouco dificil de entender pois a simulacao de audio antigo atrapalha e acompanhar as legendas atirando fica dificil...

Поставил бы 10, по скольку уж очень мне запала в душу эта игра, но слабая шутерная механика и душный последний уровень заставляют меня снизить оценку.     정말 호러 FPS 너무 싫어하는데도, 깊은 세계관, 섬뜩한 연출과 그래픽, 다양한 무기를 활용한 게임 진행과 커스터마이징 및 업그레이드 그리고 마지막 스토리까지 완벽 그 자체다. 게임 하는 내내 바이오 쇼크의 랩쳐 안에서 푸욱 담겨져 진짜로 살았던 것만 같다.

    2007 was the biggest year in gaming and this was the biggest game of that year. Well, the upper echelons of high quality video games can deliver a similar experience and Bioshock is one of them.

    2007 was the biggest year in gaming and this was the biggest game of that year. Still the 5th highest rated PC game on Metacritic and a shoe in for top 5 FPS games ever along with Golden Eye 007 and Half-Life 2. The atmosphere, the theme, and the lore provided by the audio diaries scattered throughout Rapture are perfect. The story isn't perfect because it loses a lot of its uniqueness after playing through it more than once. Gameplay mechanics are not perfect either but doesn't really take away from the overall experience.

    When it comes to how the game has aged, I will say this: gameplay mechanics can and did age, but lore, atmosphere, the theme, and overall feel didn't. 97/100 rounded up to a 10 is my personal score for the game.    … Expand

    While the world building is great, the gameplay is great, and the concepts are unique, I do have to admit this game is a bit overrated being a touch pretentious and trying way to hard with trying to make moral ‘choices’ that aren’t really choices someone would make IRL.

    Great story which is sadly undermined by the very poorly aged gameplay. Luckily the 2nd game improved on the gameplay front.

    Bioshock was the game I have never heard anyone telling something bad about. Whenever someone says "Bioshock" you can be sure word "masterpiece" is coming. Can you imagine how surprised I was when I saw comparison with the original edition? Bioshock basically looks gorgeous even by today's standarts! I think that's because the designers didn't try to create something super-realistic but instead decided to create their own universe with their own style (something similiar was done in Mirror's Edge which still will look nice no matter how many years passed).

    Nonetheless I kind of regret choosing Bioshock as my first game. Now as I play more and more videogames I appreciate Bioshock's gameplay and approach more and more everyday. What makes this game standout among others is its subtle way of telling the story, the revolutionary gameplay, the unique and immersive setting, the philosophy the Rapture is based on - all that stuff is easy to miss for a new gamer.    … Expand

    This is one of those "once in a decade" type experiences although I have been lucky to have the opportunity to play many many amazing games since. The game was supposed to end with Ryan's death and with our character discovering the truth that was told to us by Fontaine and in Bioshock 2 it started from there.     Bioshock is one of the best shooter games ever released. Its clever and thrilling story is a blockbuster in comparison to many of the primitive and unimaginative shooter games released around the same time. A wonderful steam-punk mix between FPS and RPG. Must have!

    One of my favorite fps game. I'm finished for the 3rd time. I get the same fun every time. The atmosphere and music are very good. The story and the way it is told is amazing. The characters are very well written and voiced. A very revolutionary game for its year. The graphics are also nice. Combat is so much fun. After playing it to the end, Bioshock was ruling my mind, i was thinking all the time about this game, the meaning behind jack's journey, the atmosphere, the art deco art style and so on. Set in an atmospheric underwater dystopia, it features an excellent story and interesting characters whom we get to know through a combination of radio transmissions and prerecorded messages. Oyunumuz uçağımızın düşmesi ile uçak enkazının ortasında kendimizi bulmamız ile başlıyor. Ardından yakındaki bir kuleye doğru yüzüp burada batısfer görüyoruz, bu batısfer bizi okyanusun dibindeki Rapture'a götürüyor ve maceramız burada başlıyor. Burada Atlas diye biri ile ekip olup birçok kişiyi öldürüyoruz. Şehrin yöneticisi Andrew Ryan'a gelene kadar çeşitli düşmanları öldürdükten sonra, hikayenin en önemli yeri olan Ryan'I öldürme kısmına geliyoruz. Ryan bizi aslında kendini Atlas diye tanıtan Frank Fontain'in yarattığını söylüyor. Kanıt olarak da "rica etsem" kelimesini bizim üzerimizde kullanıyor. Onu 3 defa yendikten sonra 4.'de Küçük Kız Kardeşler olaya dahil oluyor ve Fontain'in işini bitiriyorlar, oyun buradan sonra 2 farklı sondan biri ile bitiyor; eğer oyun boyunca karşılaştığınız tüm Küçük Kız Kardeşler'i kurtarmışsanız oyun iyi sonla bitiyor. Eğer karşılaştığınız Küçük Kız Kardeşler'den birini veya birden fazlasını iyileştirmek yerine hasta ettiyseniz oyun kötü sonla bitiyor. Oyunun tamamı Rapture denilen distopyada geçiyor ve buradaki mekanlar, bölümler çok güzel ve özenli bir şekilde hazırlanmış, oyuncu oyuna başlar başlamaz o atmosferi hissediyor. Ben oyunun remastered sürümünü oynadım, remastered sürümü 2016 senesine çıkmış olmasına rağmen yine de o senenin stantartlarının altında bir remastered olmuş. Sadece kaplamaları ve ışıklandırmaları biraz elden geçirmişler o kadar, 2007'deki sürümü ile aman aman bir farkı yok remastered'ın yani. Ayrıca oyunu SSD'de oynamama rağmen oyunun yüklenme süreleri çok uzun. Oyunun açılması 1 dakikayı buluyor ve oyunu kaydetmek istediğim zaman yine 5-6 saniyelik bir yükleme ekranı çıkıyor, halbuki diğer oyunlarda oyunumu beklemeden kaydedebiliyorum. Oyunu oynarken çok büyük olmasa da birkaç kez hatalar ile karşılaştım. Vuruş hissi olarak bazı silahlar iyi, bazı silahlarda ise kötü. Genel olarak oyunun fizik motoru da pek iyi değil. Oyunda ölünce son kayıt noktası yerine "canlanma noktası" denen yerden başlıyoruz, bu da bazen zaman kaybetmemize sebep oluyor. Başta da söylediğim gibi, bu oyun iyisiyle kötüsüyle benim bugüne kadar oynadığım en iyi Aksiyon-Birinci Şahıs Nişancı oyunlarından biriydi. Bioshock is one of the best classics on PC alongside the original Half-Life, an iconic title that nails atmosphere and story perfectly, i have no single complaint against Bioshock, it's a magical experience, the first time we saw rapture was like the tram sequence in 1998. Bioshock's visuals are timeless and the story is so powerful that can still be affective 13 years later. After the big twist is revealed the game kind of loses its edge but the endings and the final areas are so deep and worthwhile, now the final boss can be a bit disappointing but the endings makes up for it. Bioshock is the ultimate first-person shooter experience of the 2000's and one of the best games ever made.… Expand

    Взлом... в первые разы кажется что прикольно, но вскоре игра с нокии про трубопровод, начинает очень сильно раздражать, спасибо хоть за отмычки...

    Ругать игру можно, так как действительно много чего раздражает и не понятно почему сделали так, но как бы я её сейчас не ругал, после прохождения , отличной концовки, коих тут две , меня посетила мысль, что игра все-таки очень крутая, с крутыми колоритными персонажами. Поиграть в неё стоит каждому. Строго рекомендую!    … Expand

The lore is so interesting. The story pulls you in and I begged for the story not to end. This game is a must play and is a masterpiece.

    The setting is beautiful however it does feel very linear. The body Mods are cool. The story is amusing yet unfortunately predictable ending. Beautiful game

    Will always be one of my favorite titles of all time. The story... the environment... the gameplay... its all so enjoyable! This game makes me feel good while playing it. It does a really good job at putting the player into this crazy under the sea city full of horror and beauty. I don't think there's another game that I've played through so many times. 10/10 for me!

You get the feeling you are always being stalked and watched from every corner by the splicers of Rapture, who may I add have such a cool design with the mutilated bodies and red hot hooks attached to their hands, they twist and contort their bodies in an inhuman like fashion; it really gives you a sense of how ****** up the city under the sea really is, on a first playthrough it immediately sparks your interest on what had happened to the city everyone before you had described as a utopia. And that is one of the most important part of games making a great first impression to keep the player interested the whole time, and Bioshock does that in strides. From you constantly questioning who is really the bad guy here, and depending on your actions it could even be you. I don't want to say to much about the story of this game but it as the best in any game ever, and the first experience feels like a real playable movie and very great one at that. The game proves that video games should be looked at more like an art form. The game even graphically can compete with games from 2020 and 2021 because of how advanced 2K was back then.     When I first played this game on steam I played 30% percent of the game and never touched it again. Two years went by, and I thought of the game one day and I tried to beat it. All I can say is this is the most shameful act I have done as a gamer. This game is excellent, and I see why many hold this among the best FPS of all time.     The hours spent playing this masterpiece were the perfect encapsulation of why videogaming is such a favourite waste of time for so many of us. Thrilling, terrifying, moving, confusing, amusing, compelling, and very very dark. BioShock isn't simply the sign of gaming realising its true cinematic potential, but one where a game straddles so many entertainment art forms so expertly that it's the best demonstration yet how flexible this medium can be. It's no longer just another shooter wrapped up in a pretty game engine, but a story that exists and unfolds inside the most convincing and elaborate and artistic game world ever conceived.
