Clearly, CLEARLY this title is aimed at a younger audience and features a very reasonable price to boot, yet it wasn't deep enough or worth the valuable time of the GS reviewer who must be (apparently) making a grand an hour if this game wasn't worth his efforts or a good score.
The game features great graphics, zero bugs, tons of unlocks, lots of on-screen action, a variety of settings, solid sound design, and excellently captures the toy series it's based off of. Does the fact that it's easier (since it IS aimed at the younger audience) and some repetition equate to a full 48% off the score? Makes you wonder about the rest of their reviews, doesn't it? Hmm...

Great action-adventure gameplay. My kids (12 and 10) and I are totally hooked on the game. It does have a few flaws like the auto lock on which usually isn't a problem. It can make it hard to snipe though. I think it would also be okay if they added jumping. It would also be nice if the game was a bit more challenging. I've completed the game many times with never even dying. Also it's weird to hear the female toa Hahli with a man's voice. Expand

This game is a master piece. If you are a LEGO Bionicle Fan, this is the way to go. While you must be a Bionicle fan to actually understand this game properly, you will still enjoy it anyway, for sure. While by today's standards you might not like it that much, considering that it was realised in 2006, you can forget that. Overall a fantastic game, deserves 10/10/

A normal game, but very easy, because I passed it without losing once. The plot is very average, you can even say that it is not there.

Bionicle heros is by far the best retail bionicle game as for a fan of this Frenchies
But also that doesn't make it a perfect game
The gameplay is fun but it's to repiteve Also the mask(the toa inika mask) ability are equally The masks that you well use more than the other masks like the mask that hewkii uses(earth mask) which is annoying personally The level design is great though but for

The level design is great though but for some it's doesn't seem like lego
And that make sense bionicle don't use bricks
    The boss aren't that great
There some Good boss like i remember reidak was a good boss
But a lot of them are the same you just shot with your gun on them(that to bizzar that they use guns like this the actual sets didn't have anything like this)
Also the story i don't mind it cause it's not canon but it's makes some mistakes for the main story like when jalae get the mask of fate from botar which is totally wrong cutscene And the ending too cause in story the mask of life did go to sea which lead to the 2007 story
Also the graphics is meh not good but not too bad
The enemys are just some random characters from the story
They didn't exist in yova nui in the story
But for the game style they actually the same just some of them flay like the bohrok which doesn't make any sense The piraka playground is kinda ok
It's hilarious in the cutscenes the whole piraka cutscene are fun and show how actually idiots they were
The music in the game isn't a thing i just did listen my music while playing it
The hero mod is annoying in the bosses
I don't have a much thing to say just it's ok game
It's has a lot of contet
But if you are a bionicle fan you should finish it 100% but if you are a guy who call lego sets Legos
You just need to finish the final boss cuase the gold Canester and anything it's just things you don't have too do
    It's good game

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing game and my favorite of all the Lego based games.

I loved Bionicle Heroes. There are many different games based on Lego Bionicle but this one is the absolute best. The action, the graphics, the effects, the music, it is all very good and impressed me.

In Bioncle Heroes, you play as the mighty Toa Inika, all six of them. Your goal is to liberate the island of Voya Nui from the vile Piraka’s. You travel to six different worlds, each in the theme of the specific Piraka, earth, sand/rock, jungle, ice, fire and water and after three levels, you face the Piraka boss. After all the Piraka’s are defeated, you face Vezon and Fenrakk as the final boss. The story does not follow the official Bionicle lore, and as a result, all kinds of enemies, like the Vahki, Visorak and Bohrok are present in the game as enemies, although they do not inhibin this island originally.

On your journey, you collect Lego pieces, collectible gold and silver cannisters, and fight smaller enemies like Vahki, Bohrok and Visorak. Each world is split up in two mini boss stages, a very long “normal” stage and in the end, the Piraka battle. You start off in the hub world, in which you can choose a stage, go to the playground area, visit your collectibles or upgrade your Toa’s.

There are many secrets and areas where you cannot go to yet at the start of the game. You need to unlock/buy the right skill for your Toa’s. This means revisiting areas you have already cleared and backtracking.

When you defeat Piraka’s, they go to a special playground in which you can interact with them by buying toys and playground stuff. You point at a certain thing, like a sandbox, and one of the Piraka’s will go to that object and a little cut scene plays. I really loved to play about and discover all the cut scenes. Maybe the playground is an unnecessary feature, but I liked it.

I also really liked the boss battles in Bionicle Heroes. I was pleasantly surprised by the bosses, their patterns and the overall epic vibe that those battles had, despite the game being fairly simple and child friendly. This is mainly because of the heavy orchestra fight tracks I presume.

The graphics, at least for the PC version, are really nice and polished and the game runs very smoothly. The effects and animations of your attacks, the enemies and destruction of Lego items in the world is also really well done. The environments look very pretty and detailed, the best part of the visuals in my opinion.

This is one of those games which sets itself apart from the rest, because of its glorious soundtracks. I was overwhelmed how incredibly perfect the ambient and fight tracks are in Bionicle Heroes. Especially the boss tracks of the mini bosses and the Piraka. It is just epic and came out of the blue.

The game is not hard. You collect many Lego pieces, which you use to upgrade your Toa and make them more resistant to damage, increase their firepower and overall toughness. Dying is rare in this game. Also, when you collect enough Lego pieces, your Toa goes into “Hero mode” in which you are invincible to damage and turn gold. You also use Hero mode for construction of big, gold Lego constructs. When you achieve this, the Hero mode ends for that part of the stage. However, if you activate Hero mode and do not construct the golden object yet, you can just rush through the stage first until that point, never taking damage.

My only complaint with the game is how slow you move. Your Toa makes a move cycle like it is going a million miles per hour, but the screen is slowly moving. Sometimes, when I forgot something and needed to backtrack a bit, it felt like hours before reaching that point again.

Overall, I really liked Bionicle Heroes and would recommend it to everyone.

  1. Not even the allure of shiny robots with guns for arms can liven up this mind-numbingly simplistic and repetitive over-the-shoulder shooter.
  2. It's just a shame that the blocky menu system and overly generous built-in aim-assist smack of console pandering, because otherwise, this is a very competent piece of programming.
  3. Give the dev team props for the look of the game, but detract points from the score for the repetition and lack of substantial game elements, like puzzles and story.
