    This is an improvement after the previous game.The years that the team has put was worth because the graphics are better and there are a lot more different mechanics and bosses harder and trickier than before

    This one turned out really good. Better than I expected since I was a little let down from the first, there’s a lot more gameplay and a much more consistent story. It knows what it wants to be and the game can actually get scary at times.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bendy and the Dark Revival is different from Bendy and the Ink Machine in many different ways. If you didn't like the first game, I think you would at least somewhat enjoy this one. As a person who just got introduced to the franchise, this game gets many things right and a few things wrong.

    Stealth & Combat

    I believe this is the weakest part of the game. The combat isn't really the best but it's good enough. It's still a step up from the combat from the first game. Sneaking around is fun when you get to sneak up behind enemies and make them banish (in the game, sending them back to the dark puddles). Audrey is faster than Henry, and she gets the ability to teleport (I will talk about the abilities later so keep that in mind) so it makes the combat better in a way that you can retreat without ink monsters on your tail. Still, don't expect too much out of the combat, as it's just a cycle of Attacking, Teleporting, Running, Attacking, Teleporting, Running, so on so forth. Still better than the jank that was BatIM's combat though.

    Stealth Rating: 5/5 (for you this can be different because many people would regard the stealth as a snoozefest, so don't take my word for it when I say it's fun when you're stealthy.)

    Horror & Artstyle

    Honestly, endless praise to the artstyle of the game. I cannot stress how good it looks! It's so visually pleasing, I'd bet money that it would make the tedious aspects of the game less tedious. It doesn't aim for realism, but it's trying to be unique. I'll talk more about the artstyle later. The horror elements in this game... I mean, depends on what you get scared at. The game relies on it's atmosphere most of the time. When the Ink Demon (basically the biggest threat canonically) comes, the screen just changes color and it says "The Ink Demon is coming. Hide." Failure to do so (hide) will result in the Ink Demon coming out of thin air and killing you. This still brings tension to the table as you would immediately rush to find a hiding spot, but considering it's canonically the biggest threat in the Cycle, that's pretty underwhelming and seeing what BatIM did with the Ink Demon too. Another thing this game uses is pretty cheap jumpscares that can really startle you. Carley too, she can be activated and can be avoided, but she scared the hell out of me throughout my playthrough because she just appears randomly out of nowhere. She damages you, but she can't kill you.

    Gameplay & Story

    The gameplay is really fun! It has a lot of focus on exploration, combat, and stealth. I like to explore the entire map, searching every nook and cranny to upgrade my gent pipe. It feels rewarding. The game gives you the ability to fast travel (exploration), flow (teleport), and banish enemies (stealth). Fast travelling and flowing together can allow you to search places you either couldn't before or you couldn't see. Unlike Bendy and the Ink Machine, the entire map is connected. In BatIM each chapter had a map, and you couldn't go back to the previous chapter's map until you either unlocked every chapter or you just go to chapter select. But here, the entire map is connected. With the use of fast travel, there isn't a need to backtrack either. And I would guarantee, going back and exploring places a bit more and exploring could get you some useful items. The story is good, however a bit unclear at times. Joey(?) somehow comes back to life and teleports you to BatIM's chapter 1 map and gives you a slideshow on the lore so far (that may even be bogus?)

    Gameplay Ranking: 5/5
    Story Ranking: You Decide/5 (I am not a story-teller, and cannot differentiate between a bad story and a good one unless it's painfully obvious that the story sucks.)

    My Overall Ranking & Conclusion

    This game is a solid 8.5 or a 9/10. Its biggest flaw (the combat) is very bearable and (I think) can be avoided most of the time. I don't really know if you guys will like the story. This game has slowly consumed my free-time and I suppose if you loved Bendy and the Ink Machine, you'd love this. Couple things to add here, the game requires a decent computer (as with BatIM too) to run, and grinding isn't required to progress.     If you're looking for a good scare, if you don't find any games worth yoir money, then I can assure you, you WILL be thanking me for buying this masterpiece. Everything, but I mean EVERUTHING is incredible. A must-buy!

    This might actually be the best game out of all the indie horror games for the past 5 years. The atmosphere really delivers a creepy environment and the ink monsters look really great. Also, Bendy was really cute.

    This is the best Indie game of 2022! She deserves attention! Nice visual, good plot, music, sounds, gameplay - made with high quality! Bugs are almost not noticeable, and optimization is on top! The creator of the game said: "Bendy and the Dark Rebirth will be better than Bendy and the Ink Machine." He wasn't lying! The game is really like that!

    Yea it not scary with jumpsscares but it has a more of an atmospheric horror I find that way better then just cheap fnaf type jumpscares.
    I am very impressed that this was made by a team of ONLY 10 PEOPLE!

    This is one of the best action-horror video games I’ve ever played. The linearcy of the game does not interfere in the enjoyment of the game whatsoever, and the story of this entry is even more appealing to the audience than the first entry in the bendy series. Even with certain bugs, this is surely a 10/10

    The meatly did a really great job on innovating the bendy series with this installment. The addition of stats, upgrades and abilities really made this feel more than just a walking simulator with fetch quests. I’m eager to see what their plans are next for this franchise because it sure has a lot of potential.

    TheMeatly and his crew really outdid themselves with this game. The scare factors are still on, the story is amazing, I can’t put it another way, this is an easy 10.

    I love this game. Clearly, most of the problems with the previous work have been corrected There is definitely a bit of a bug, but every game has a bug when it is released, so I believe it will be patched, so I don't cut the score. What's certain is that it's been a fun game for a long time.

    -GRAPHICS- As expected, the art style in Bendy and the Dark Revival is so unique and gorgeous that it immediately draws you into the terrifying world of ink. Not really much else to say in this department. -GAMEPLAY- The gameplay is a massive upgrade    This game is an obvious upgrade from its predecessor, but it is still very lacking in some places. Let's go through each category:

    -GRAPHICS-
    As expected, the art style in Bendy and the Dark Revival is so unique and gorgeous that it immediately draws you into the terrifying world of ink. Not really much else to say in this department.

    -GAMEPLAY-
    The gameplay is a massive upgrade from the original, with an improved(yet still flawed) combat system and an RPG upgrade system. There are also a lot more stealth sections, but the AI of the enemies are so braindead it's laughable. You would be standing behind a small desk in a brightly lit area and they wouldn't see you. They also do not respond to noise at all. The puzzles are amazing, however, and there is a substantial decrease in fetch quests. The bosses are definitely a low point in terms of game design, however.

    -STORY-
    This game's story is so, so, so good. It answers many questions from the original game and continues the original in a way I would have never expected. It does seem a little forced how the devs handle it, however.

    -MUSIC-
    The OST in Dark Revival is an absolute earworm. Nothing else much to say.

    Overall, Bendy and the Dark Revival is a huge step up from BatIM. The graphics are amazing, a major part of the full ink world story is revealed, and the music is outstanding. The only thing holding this game back was the lackluster combat, RPG, and stealth system, resulting in a Great atmosphere but lacking gameplay. Heck, the ink demon doesn't even chase you! He just appears out of thin air if you don't hide quickly enough! It was so disappointing, but the story and world definitely kept me going. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is a LOT better than BatIM's fetch quest marathon and terrible combat system. This game is definitely worth your time if you like bendy.    … Expand

    Joey Drew Studios returns, and with it so does the Ink Demon. With a fantastical setting seemingly ripped out of a fifty year old sketchbook, it is your task as Audrey to not only survive the growingly-hostile grounds of the animation studio, but to find a way back home.

    The way that the game looks is stunning. It is clear to see that the people working on this poured their heart and    Joey Drew Studios returns, and with it so does the Ink Demon. With a fantastical setting seemingly ripped out of a fifty year old sketchbook, it is your task as Audrey to not only survive the growingly-hostile grounds of the animation studio, but to find a way back home.

    The way that the game looks is stunning. It is clear to see that the people working on this poured their heart and soul into it. I truly cannot praise those responsible for how this game looks enough for giving me the chance to explore such a charismatically bleak yet terrifyingly cheerful environment. The only true criticism I could have for the style would be that I was left with an almost demonic desire to explore every inch of the decrepit location only to be faced with countless doors that led to nowhere.

    When it comes to characters, there are slim pickings when getting to the meat of prominence. There is Wilson, the unsettling Janitor of Archgate Films with one good eye and (most likely) a restraining order. Audrey, a hardworking animator looking to make sense of her situation. Then who can forget the instant fan favorite, Bendy the Ink Demon- who won our hearts without saying even a single word. This however is where everyone else takes the proverbial backseat. New or old, all other characters appear so little in the story that one could debate that the story would have been the same if they were never a part of it in the first place. What little we did get from them was reduced to nothing more than scribbles written onto memos.

    Now for the story. What started off as a strong reintroduction to the world of Joey Drew Studios, and the ever-looming GENT Corporation was very quickly melted down into a slurry of side-stories that most usually ended just as quickly as they began in a way that left the player little time to actually speculate for themselves. That's not to say that the ideas behind these stories weren't good, quite the opposite actually. It simply felt very rushed, and I find that to be the worst part about the games otherwise sparkling image. The ending, though left me hopeful in someways- disappointed me in others in the exact same manner. It was rushed, most likely to meet deadlines. A true shame.

    The combat in the game is almost always reduced to a 'point here and click' mindset, but when it isn't it does not disappoint. Challenging but fair, so long as you do not stumble into a programming issue like how you can simply crouch your way through 'a certain boss encounter' without risk.

    Lastly, the best part of this game hands down had to be the Butcher Gang- all FOUR members making themselves irreplaceable to the game as not only recognizable characters, but charming individuals in their own twisted way. This band of hostile hooligans, though a bit dinged up, help make the game everything it wants to be.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a great flop of another big Indie horror game. Don’t get me wrong, the old-cartoon artstyle is absolutely stunning as always.. although I don’t know what they were thinking while making „the ending” segment.
    First of all, the tag „Horror” shouldn’t even count on this game anymore. The Dying Light alike mechanics make the game more of a survival game than a horror one. The voice acting is TRYING to be scary (don’t get me wrong, the actors did a good job on their characters), like they WANT to be all scary and threatening but end up with too many effects in the voice (for example the Keepers „stutter” too much, making them sound just really goofy or wierd). What I ment by „great flop of another Indie horror game” (warning: might be controversial) is how FNAF:SB turned out. Buggy, with an unexplained story, relying on cheap jumpscares and overall wandered away too far from the first series.
    Same goes for BATIM and BATDR - too far from the original.
    As much as BATIM relied on cheap jumpscares, they didn’t feel predictable when you first played. But BATDR is just way too predictable (a youtuber by the name FusionzGamer predicted nearly the whole story and encounters on his first playthrough). Now onto the worst part in the whole game.
    -The Ending-
    Holy crap I’ve never tought it could’ve turned for the worse. The bossfight BEFORE the ending segment is sorta fine and I’d say seeing Wilson’s body inside that „Creation” is preety unsettling. But everything after the bossfight just feels.. dry. The game really could use for some multi-choice anwsers, so the player could feel like they’re doing smth to the story. But in the end, You’re forced to become one with the ink demon and go through this „cool” Being Ink Demon segment.
    You’re invincible.
    You one shot enemies.
    THERE IS NOTHING SCARY IN BEING INVINCIBLE AND SCARIER THAN OTHERS.
    The ending cutscene makes a good reference to BATIM and ends with a cliffhanger, probably a teaser to BATDR Chapter 2.

    Overall:
    - Horror factor: 2/10
    - Gameplay: 3/10
    - Story: 8/10
    - Voice Acting: 4/10 (not all were bad)
    - Characters: 6/10 (although random excluding cameos from BATIM)
    - References to past series: 7/10 (many, preety good references if you watched/played BATIM)
    - Combat: 1/10 (Dying Light alike combat but minus the stun and satisfaction of hitting enemies)
    - Abilities: 3/10 (A really lame teleport and a instakill attack that doesn’t work on most enemies and you’ll forget abt it as soon as Its introduced)
    - Stealth: ?/10 (Its hard to tell because you can beat the whole game by barely doing ANY stealth.)
    - Personal enjoyment: 2/10

    Im extremally dissapointed by the fact they took everything unsettling/scary about BATIM and deleted it/changed it totally. Hopefully C2/New game will be better than this.

    - Personal note to the developer: I’d love to see this game, with the same story but with multiple choice anwsers and BATIM styled (more relying on horror factor than action/combat)

    I won’t give it a 0, but neither can I give it a 3.

The Game is a Graphical improvement over the last with Good Character designs and OK story. But, It still has the same flaws as the Original, Poor Combat, Characters appear left and right and are never to be seen again, and horrible bosses. Sorry Bendy Fans, But this isn’t the marvelous game we’ve been waiting for the last 5 years.… Expand

    This games bad it's not as well executed as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet while that game lags it atleast had soul, me and my girlfriend want a refund tbh.

    Poorly done combat, story on par with fan fiction, and animations so goofy looking they ruin any mood of a cutscene.

    The game is very annoying, the flash is dizzy and the cheap jump scares are not worth it, but the game still has good points.

It leans almost entirely into the horrid action sections so it can show off its almost dysfunctional combat system. This paired with complete lack of tension or anything remotely scary. Especially in the sections where you are being chased by bendy and the only threat you can see is white text and if you take too long a jump-scare. The threat is not even tangible until your already dead theres no tension. Overall better than the first but still fail’s fundamentally as a horror game… Expand

    I've waited years for this and it was a solid experience. I'm not a big fan of the combat but the boss fights and story were great. I like Bendy & The Ink Machine better purely out of nostalgia/memories but this is a great sequel.

    Joey Drew Studios has created a memorable nightmare world of maniacal ‘toons and the dark side of creativity. While its combat and mechanics don’t reach the same level as its setting and narrative, Bendy and the Dark Revival is a must-play for fans of the first game, and an effective introduction to a singular franchise for everyone else.

    Bendy and the Dark Revival is trying its best to seems impressive and broad, but boring enemies, annoying stalker-type monster and bad stealth segments really drag the whole experience down, turning this project into a game tailored more for the fans of the original rather than a new audience.
