Beast Breaker is the kind of game that flies under the radar but rewards those willing to give it a shot. The battle system for the genre is distinct but easy to understand, and even if you're fighting a small roster of creatures in each land, the fights are never dull. The variety in the attacks gives min/max players some room to play with their builds, while the story and characters provide enough motivation to see it through to the end. For those looking for a different kind of RPG, Beast Breaker is worth checking out.

It's not too small in terms of content, but it definitely feels like it at times, when it becomes too repetetive.
There are only several different types and layouts of beasts, but the bad thing is, they mostly play the same. As soon as you make yourself a weapon that suits you, you can use it against every beast, and it would play essentially the same way. The only exception is the final boss, but that's another story.
The final boss fight is a long one, separated in four phases... which are also long, because it's damn thicc. And if you lose it, you have to start over from the first phase. It's also pretty hard, especially compared to the previous monsters you encounter. I had to start over twice... First time, to pick a more suitable weapon. Second time... because the boss crashed on the fourth phase. Note: it seems to had happened because I stunned it.
(fun fact, after that i only had to start over from it, but after i died on it, i still had to go from the very start...)
That was the only bug I've noticed, but oh boy it was an unwelcome one.
Well, what else. The plot is cute, but my heart must be made out of stone because I dont find plots like these particularly interesting for a long while. The graphics are great, except that the settings menu is made in a completely different style that makes it feel very out of place. VERY.
So the conclusion: playable in moderate doses.

Beast Breaker is a beautiful, heartfelt, and genuinely fun tactical brick break/peg/pinball rpg experience that I feel is so underrepresentedBeast Breaker is a beautiful, heartfelt, and genuinely fun tactical brick break/peg/pinball rpg experience that I feel is so underrepresented and under-reviewed that I made an account for this website just to leave a review for it. Please play this game, and tell others to review it. It is criminally underrated and a wonderful heroic tale about the dangers of taking from the land. Among other more spoilery topics I don't wish to delve into. There is a lot of love and pure beauty in this game that deserves so much more accolade and praise. It's also very fun to break as there are tactics within the weapon customization that are a bit broken/OP. Hilarious fun as many of the Beasts themselves can be tough acts to deal with. Play it, love it, review it, please. Full Review »

Beast Breaker is super creative and opens the door for more involved puzzle-RPGs. It's tactically interesting and has incredible music by Big Giant Circles. Most importantly to me, BB also features touching, strong writing, with a "found family" flavor and an appropriately lovable cast of characters.
It has some bugs and a couple balance issues, but some of these are being addressed with patches.
Beast Breaker left a positive impact on me, and that's invaluable. Vodeo Games will have more eyes on them in no time, and it'll be well-deserved, with their "cozy-crunchy," heartfelt approach to making games.
