Good weapon selection this time around
Vehicle models (well done) and tank and air combat is fun and requires some skill
Squad revive and ammo attrition etc is a great addition
Attempts to get some actual team gameplay back into the game
No micro transactions and all DLC available to all ++
Very smooth launch. Easy to get onto regional servers.
    Runs well on a GTX970.

    Cons:
Rewriting actual historical events and people is not good.
A full single player campaign would have been great
Netcode issues, will hopefully be addressed as with all their titles after release.
Enemy visibility, it's very hard to pick out players, and sometimes they are literally invisible.
Bombers need to be toned down, add airfields so they need to resupply perhaps like the original games.

Update: They have already started to patch things so fingers crossed they keep improving this title as it is a beautiful game and has stacks of potential.

This game is fun. It's better than I expected. The gun play is fantastic! The sounds are fantastic! You could argue that was the same with BF3 and BF4. But I was excited to see some iconic WWII weapons. I was also disappointed with some of the maps. A lot of them are small infantry focused maps. I much rather enjoy Battlefield's huge massive all out war battlefields and those are the maps I enjoy playing which are a few. I also wish there were some iconic WWII maps and battles. But they are going for some reason with "untold stories" which is not as exciting. So overall this game doesn't really have that WWII feel at the moment. Hopefully once all the maps and content are out it will. When you play as the British you don't feel like the British in WWII. You feel like some random group of rebels or "Resistance" fighters... The only time I actually feel like it's wwII is when I'm on the German team.
The singleplayer. Don't even bother touching it. It's a waste of your time. I really wish they never even tried to make a singleplayer for this. It's such a lackluster boring mess. They did only have 2 years to make a singleplayer experience and that is definitely not long enough. I would have rather they focused on multiplayer like the original BF1942 game and maybe just make a singleplayer of the multiplayer maps with just bots, so you could practice flying or other techniques.
The bugs in this game are a bit annoying for me as well. Nothing as bad as the release of BF4 but still annoying. I really hate that it's so easy to get caught on the map geometry. This gets me killed more often than not. Especially on that blown out Rotterdam map. Another things that bugs me or rather pulls me out of the experience are the wacky ragdolls. They have no weight to them. They make the players look like they are filled with air. It looks really weird when you kill someone and their ragdoll flops all over then jumps to the help for revive animation. Then when the time runs out for the revive it suddenly jumps and flops around all crazy like. Really pulls me out of the immersion.
I don't like how the planes in the game have weird looking damage models. The wings suddenly clip off at the tips. It just looks unrealistic.
The medic class is very underwhelming. They need some weapons that can reach out a bit further. It would have been cool to do it like BF4 and have the DMR style weapons universal across the classes.

Now the glaring obvious problems this game had even before launch. I don't know how it was possible to completely screw up a WWII Battlefield game. I'm a WWII fanatic and I've waited since the first release of BF for a full complete WWII battlefield game to come out again. But they some how manage to completely screw the marketing for this game up. You will notice by the average user score on here. The marketing team should be fired. This team did real damage to this game. Why in the world would you try to get today's politics and social issues into a WWII historic game? Why? Why try to force and paint a different lens on history? When you try to bring todays politics into a historic game that will obviously piss off a lot of the fan base. The marketing team for BF1 did an amazing job and that game is not as fun as this game.

I really really want this game to succeed and I hope with all the content they release over the next year that it will become a BF gem just like how BF4 had a rough start bug wise I hope this game will change the minds of people that hated it because of the marketing over time.

Yeah not to bad I guess. Its just a video game that's just trying to be just that ,and not as much of a accurate representation of WW2. It looks good and runs ok if you keep DRX off.

    Battlefield V, it's not a 10/10 game, not even an 8 or 9.

For one, the announcer and the whole UI layout feels and looks like Star Wars: Battlefront which is hilarious. I personally LOVE how EA/DICE is making us pay $60 for a missing game mode they promised, Battle Royale (which we are getting 'next year' lol) and many features just missing. You can't customize your character in-game/server, groups/platoons don't exist and so many more features just lacking. What is this? An Early Access game on Steam? Why are we missing core features that the Battlefield series always had? Then you have weapons, they just feel "squishy" against enemies. It takes a full magazine to kill someone or if you use a sniper and shoot them straight at the chest it doesn't kill someone. Sometimes even a headshot won't kill a player instantly. The health idea in this game is just stupid. Why are there health packs on players? Battlefield is team orientated. Nope, not this Battlefield. You have health packs like Call of Duty now just to replenish your health. No need for teammates to go Medic for health or even Support for ammo. Can I also mention that DICE censors 'curse words' in-game text chat? Rated 'M' game and we can't call our own horrible team bad words because it may hurt them. Finally, sadly another year without Battlelog. Why? I want detailed statistics, no one wants that crap website companion or app.

Want to play this game? Play on 'Hardcore' servers created by the community. Official servers with DICE's own rule sets are trash.

Battlefield 4 is better and more balanced, Battlefield V is catering to more "casual" players. EA/DICE want that Call of Duty fan base too much rather than on just expanding on what Battlefield is and what they created from the start. You aren't missing out much if you don't play or buy this. If you really want it, wait for a sale. It will probably be like $30 by next year like Battlefield 1.

I bought every Battlefield game, played each one (ranging from Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC) and I have to say one thing. I personally would have liked to have Battlefield: Bad Company 3 this year or I would have rather taken Battlefield Hardline 2, instead we got Battlefield V. It could be such a fun game to play, but at the same time it's such a disappointing game.

    1. RTX does not work - a lot of flickering on 3080.
    2. Campaign missions are fine, but some are a step down from BF1.

I don't play multiplayer, can't comment on that.

I decided to try it out through the Origin Basic. It was my second Battlefield game from the series. Battlefield 1 was the first one and i played it a lot- really liked it.

The first thing, that quite frustrated me, was time to kill, as someone in the previous reviews mentioned, you die, die and die, waiting for medic many times. In bad games it is really hard to focus, when you die so quickly. K/D ratio suffers. However, if you have a good team, which stick together and helps each other, this is not a big deal. But the word IF is a key here... you rarely get a good team. Many times people are camping with sniper rifles from the map corner, not willing to go into cap zone(not the developers fault, but it affects the pleasure from gameplay). And this is really frustrating. So - IF you have a good team, the low TTK will not bother you. If not - well. Prepare for frustration. I think, that time to kill is going to be changed again, but i may be mistaken.

I like special abilities available for the squad commander. Very good idea. And if a player, which is a commander, doesn't give orders, it stops to be commander after some time. That was a good decision, because i hated that in Bf 1, where poor squad commander didn't give orders, and we were losing points.

The second thing - sound. While the music is good(especially "under no flag" and "triumph". Both are awesome tracks) The sound is weird - it is often very hard to hear footsteps, and i hear tanks only, when they drive over me. It really doesn't help. You also don't feel the "might" of the weapon you are currently using. In BF 1 sounds of weapons were really awesome, here - they are not. It doesn't help the atmosphere.

In BF1 we had one weapon Skin to choose. Now we can choose a skin for each weapon element. It wasn't necessary - it only makes menu harder to manage. Upgrading weapons, however, is nice.

Building walls of sandbags and other entrenchments is a good fun. So is dragging stationary weapons by a truck or other vehicle.

Finally some words about performance - driving vehicles is annoying. They block on each and every tree, rock, stone wall. Some are sliding. Sometimes game is changing into small slide show, where planes and soldiers disappear, only to appear in other place after a second or two later. And i had ping 20. When i first tried to complete Norway campaign, couldn't, due to a bug. ;)

I wasn't happy about political correctness in the game or unhistorical elements. Others have written enough about it, i don't want to.

Some good decisons, some bad.. I think 7 is a fair rating.
    Sorry for possible spelling/grammar mistakes.

So when you play the game shockingly to some here who most likely haven't touch the game, BF5 compare it to BF1 and BF4 has great improvement and positive about the game but also setback to the newest installment of Battlefield but one that can only get better.
Firstly, the graphic are on point as normal. Dice knows how to made a world feel alive and even on the PS4 pro, it just stunning so no problems there .

Next the gameplay which has been change from BF1 and is so much better. guns feel different from each other and getting kills feel a lot more awarding since the challenge of shooting is back. There is a quicker TTK which has its up and down moments but its forces player to think more and plan there attack with your squad which is more vital for doing well in this game. You can solo with some on the new gameplay applied but it now much harder to Rambo unlike BF1 and you end up dead if your not prepare. However i feel the balance at the moment between vehicle , planes and soldiers is better then BF1 (where planes always bombed you and never go down) and BF4 which (Jesus Christ!!!!! , the bloody helicopter are just BROKEN and nobody mention this anywhere in recent time and its seem like BF4 is the god of all Battlefield when there some glaring problems) (small rant).

The weapon choices at first seem meh and underwhelming which i can understand when there a good number of iconic WW2 weapon missing and Faction ( pph, type 100, m1 Grand ) but i bet you will see them later with the tide of war going though the years of WW2. However what weapon we go a first seem like Dice haven't try since there a good handful of WW1 weapon transfers to BF5 (which might make this look lazy but they did have a role in WW2 so that why there here) but they have improve the performance of the weapon so they don't feel copy and paste from BF1 gameplay and they handle different enough to take more skill to master the weapons so the list is a lot better then BF1 even though the list is small but it will grow with FREE content which is a nice bonus in AAA gaming which mean you don't have to pay more money for MAP, GUN, NEW MODE etc. although there more or less will be micro transaction for cosmetic which is a pain to have but i prefer that over loot boxes and season Passes although this is EA so i'm waiting for the catch. never trust E.

Music and sound effect are also on point but i feel the sound of footstep is a bit muted which can make it really hard to hear enemies nearby. that hopefully will be fix in future updates . It also use some of the music from previous Battlefield which is awesome. :D

The few negative i have with this game is the content is bare bone at this time. you get a small single campaign of three stories and a interesting fourth coming soon and 8 launch maps at the beginning with a handful of modes to start with. It all good with what there, i enjoy it but the lack of content there is so easy to see and at the moment I can see why paying £50 is not worth it for some player however with what coming in top for FREE in the next 3 months, that will help this game grow and can becoming something amazing so if you want to wait till then, that understandable.

The hate this game get make no sense. I'm a fan of Battlefield and can understand the backlash it got with the trailer but not for the women in the game, Just the none sense of the video and Micheal Bay stuff. The cosmetic is there so you can customize your solider which i think is a good idea for battlefield 5 (shame it not has deep has i though ) it seem the gaming community has turn rotten just for something like this. if you don't like women being in BF5, then that your choice but it doesn't ruin the experience so calm your troll hands. However EA have done them self's for it marketing campaign that DICE had to pick and try fixed and is the sole cancer for the Battlefield name so i will join and agree with the hate on them (since they ruin so many games already) .
    Overall
Battlefield 5 is a good game and one for the hardcore fans at least even with the faults but I can't give it anymore then 7 for the sheer lack of content at this moment. I think the rating will improve as time goes on with free updates and more content and will be a 8 or a 9 if they fixed some problems, i hope this review will help understand where this game stand at this time

Final Verdict: 7.4 (Rounded down to a 7)

To start off, I was one of the people who didn't like DICE's depiction of WW2 and was against the game from the start. The closed alpha was quite good, but the beta was an outright disaster. That said, I can confidently say that this year's installment has the best gameplay since BF3. If you want a game with an in-depth progressions system that you can sink hours into with its constant genre-defining epic moments for hours on end, this is the game for you. Cosmetics are surprisingly good. All characters you can choose are faction specific, meaning no black woman nazis, restricting the player to choose from a variety of men and women from a select character pool. For those concerned about historical accuracy, it is barely noticeable aside from the uncomfortable and loud women screaming on the battlefield. The content is quite light at launch. While there is a lot of variety in the content itself, the quantity is lacking. Features such as dragging downed friendlies, vehicle customization, and the Last Tiger war story are lacking from the game. The game is also very buggy. I'd say there aren't many 'game breaking' bugs (although I've encountered an infinite revive state glitch where I couldn't respawn), as most of the bugs are ignorable at best. The story is alright. 2 of the 3 war stories are quite decent, and one is just downright garbage. The AI is piss poor, and there is no variety in gameplay other than the typical one man army style gameplay. Performance isn't up to standard right now, as hectic moments can get quite laggy especially if you don't have a good CPU. So, should you buy the game? Not yet. Either wait till it's on sale or until more content comes out. I also recommend you try out the game by buying one month of EA Access. I've had a blast with the game so far, and I look forward to Tides of War.

Overall: This is another battlefield shooter with some interesting new elements that I haven't seen before. Classes are well made and balanced. The free cosmetics are nice touch and so is the minor customization you can do on a weapon by weapon basis (this makes up for the lack of customization in weapons given we are using WWI, WWII and later guns).

Gunplay: This is where the game shines in my opinion from past battlefields. I'm a sucker for old fashion guns. The bolt action snipers are a blast and the semi auto rifles/ sub machine guns are some of my favorite. The addition (I'm guessing they existed in Battlefield One also) of machine guns that are more powerful but require you to lay down to shoot make the game much more interesting as well, but I haven't spent much time with them.

    Time to Kill:
The time to kill feels appropriate, but I do wish bolt action snipers did a bit more damage. Currently you have to shoot people twice to kill them or once in the head making bolt actions kind of pointless when some of the semi auto snipers can also two shot kill. I still take the bolt for fun head shot picks, but they should buff direct chest shots to also one shot kill in my opinion for bolt actions.

All automatics seem to kill at a good rate especially the heavy machine guns from my limited time playing them.

Maps: This is where the game loses two points for me. The maps aren't amazing. They are good looking, but are a bit boring. Nothing about them stands out as interesting. There are two maps with a bridge which makes for some interesting fights on top of it, but thats a bout all that stands out. Battlefield 3 on the other hand had extremely diverse maps with each one having unique elements that stood out (the giant one with a spire in the middle was super fun for vehicles, the tunnel one made for crazy linear pushes and fights with cover to dip and weave between, ect) Don't expect nearly as much from these maps.

Gamemodes: I docked another point because of this. The two game modes that are most played are called breakthrough and grand operations. Grand operations has a bunch of different game modes thrown into it so I'll talk about that one second. Breakthrough was the spiritual successor to rush as the main game mode and its only ok. One team defends two - three bases and the other team has to try to secure all of them at the same time to move onto the next wave of bases. Unlike rush I never felt satisfied when I took a base as the enemy team could always take it back. There was no massive explosion or anything to make you feel like you accomplished anything. Just a temporary goal achieved because you had more people around a flag than the enemy. You literally don't have to do anything but stand there with other teammates to take a base. And when you team runs off to take the other objectives you have no hope of defending a huge area alone (in rush you could defend the building where you had to plant the bomb a bit better by yourself or a single squad). The game mode is still decently fun as it beats the heck out of boring game modes like teamdeathmatch, but its no where near as fun as rush.

Grand operations is a bit more fun as it includes three rounds with different scenarios on one map area (there are about 3 map areas in total if i remember correctly). The objectives are fun, but once again not as fun as past installations to the series, but what makes it a bit more fun than break through is the scale of the fighting is much larger. Where this mode fails is the fact that only the last round of 3 matters for who wins. The first two rounds don't mean anything in this game mode except a small boost to the attackers if they do well the previous round (the defenders don't ever get anything). This is ridiculous from a game design standpoint (it should be best of three). If this game was actually competitive I would dock several points for just this. However, since these games are a casual shooter at the end of the day I don't think its really justified to dock more points for an arbitrary victory or loss screen at the end of matches.

PC Port: Haven't had too many issues that other people have reported. Occasional small bugs that have existed in all battlefield games that never really detracted from my enjoyment. The only thing that has really bothered me is that the game starts off windowed sometimes and I have to go to the video settings in the game to get it back to full screen.

Summary: A fun casual shooter with enjoyable gunplay and lackluster maps and game modes. If you are looking for a run and gun where you can just relax this is a good option in my opinion. Over all it satisfies my itch for that purpose.

I really like the graphics and atmosphere. The gameplay is very bad. The game is very short and the stories are not satisfied. The 3rd story is awesome and the others are just meh.

Not a great game, not a waste of time. Bunch of stories about World War 2 that doesn't make sense a lot beacuse those stories are not so realistic. But graphics and atmosphere incentive. Should Play.

Fun multiplayer gameplay with friends. Lack of maps is a bit disappointing. Decent progression, and cool smoke mechanics.

I think the game is decent. OK, it's kinda like BF1 but there are some minor changes. I'm thankful that I got the game for free with the GPU, otherwise I probably wouldn't play it. When it comes to the gameplay itself I really like the feel of being on the battlefield in this game compared to the previous BFs. The amount and quality of sound and visual effects is just amazing. Some people were and still are crying that there are women in the game and history is completely false but I don't think anyone should care about it, it makes no sense, the game was made for to entertain people, not to teach them history. I like WW2 in games but it feels kinda boring. I miss flying jets and helicopters like in previous BFs. Overall, it's a nice game, definitely one of the best BFs when it comes to gameplay. Expand

The game has potential to be a 9/10 game. A lot of absurd cheese gets in the way. Dying randomly doesn't feel like it is your fault.

After a year playing it I can say that it is not at the height of other installments of the saga, but as a video game Shooter currently meets.

Its movement is fast, something more like Warzone style, which can be a point in its favor or a point against, personally, against, I do not like that fast movement and sliding. The immersion fell in an unimaginable way in this installment,

The immersion fell in an unimaginable way in this installment, you don't feel that atmosphere of world war that Battlefield 1 left us, this is like a war of people in disguises who love to slide, I don't even feel that the frenetic battles have been preserved.

Historical certainly isn't a word that fits this game. Nothing is historical and they stuck their costumes in to ruin the immersion more when they could have kept the cosmetic purchases and kept a historical game, like they did with Battlefield 1 where the paints for the weapons were based on something real, though I don't know if they all were.

This game tried to bring new things to the saga that nobody asked for and nobody wanted, and with Battlefield 2042 they didn't learn their lesson.

Battlefield V is a decent shooter, but a bad Battlefield. All they should have done is take Battlefield 1942 as a base. When I look at Battlefield 1942 in 2042 Portal mode I see what Battlefield V should have been, what it could have been, too bad about the fate of this game.

It’s far from being ideal but all the glitches and shortcomings don’t ruin the overall fun of Battlefield V’s multiplayer experience. Although the single player portion of the game is not bad at all, I would have been disappointed if I bought the game just for it. [13/2018, p.56]

In Battlefield V we got back to WW2, but with refined gunplay and death system which works great. There are also little problems such as low number of maps and stability issues, that are taking the fun away, but nothing that can't be fixed.

A great World War II shooter that will grow and improve. Do not buy the game because of its singleplayer, but if you consider the campaign a bonus to the multiplayer, you will be satisfied. [Issue#291]
