Huge and beautiful. The multiplayer in this game makes it more than worth it. Call of Duty has met its match (and also did in BFBC2). But now it is going to be shadowed. Don't listen to any of the negative reviews. It's more than worth the purchase.

I really cannot deny the veracity of their claims; I can and will, however, point out the meaningless of them. The Battlefield series exists for multiplayer to such an extent, that most customers of this game will barely play the campaign in comparison to the multiplayer modes. In my case I played 7.5 hrs in Bad Company 2 in the campaign, whereas I spent almost 240 hrs playing the game online. In other words 3% of the time I spent playing BFBCS, I spent playing the single player campaign. Based on that experience, I base my review of Battlefield 3 almost completely (97%) on the multiplayer. In that respect this game is amazing. Stunning graphics, wonderful sound, and ridiculously addictive gameplay make BF3 a phenomenal game. In short, yes the single player campaign is sub par. So what?! Battlefield 3 is about insane online battles, not the single player campaign. Simple as that. Expand

Their are lots of vehicles to choose from including tanks jets and helicopters. The servers have some lag issues and there is a hit detection problem but the game its self is so top notch and addicting that I am fine waiting on a patch. One last thing I would like to mention is the stealth kills with the knife THEY ARE **** EPIC! and include things like driving your blade into a enemys chest grabbing their dogtags and booting their legs out from under them. A true sequel to DICE's Battlefield 2 - People may be upset with the fact that the single-player was not up to par with most campaigns in other games (and in my opinion, it was) - but Battlefield has and always will be a multiplayer game and for people to rate this game down simply because the single player wasn't as good as they hoped is moronic and ignorant.

Very immersing military shooter. It’s not as real simulating as a simulator goes, but it’s surely more than realistic the most of the time. Real weapons, real vehicles, jets, choppers, MBT, boats, and bikes… all you would encounter on battlefield. I enjoyed 106 hours of this, and will enjoy a lot more. Simply an amazing mulitplayer FPS! Not many people buy this for the single player, so don't get your hopes up. The single play is still not nearly as bad as some will have you believe. Multiplayer is intense, amazing, and rewards skill. If you were raised on Teletubies under high-voltage power lines then I would go get MW3. BF3 is the best game I have ever played. There I said it.

Sure there is a reason to complain here or there about an issue (i.e. flashlights blinding in broad daylight), but they will be ironed out. At a top level you can't go past this game.

Xbox and PS3 players should pout like little **** at what they are missing out on. The maps are genius. A nice mix of close quarter assault fest with medium sized, oh crud im gonna half to run a little bit, to humungoid, oh crap where is a jeep--im tired after running that far sized maps. Smart teams that know how to play as a team will own stupid lone wolf noobs---just the way it should be. Snipers/kill freaks are penalized with very low scores due to lack of team objectives---just the way it should be. Vehicles are tasty. Unlocks are actually fun, because when you start you are not at an insane disadvantage. I can own full colonels as a private---the way it should be. This is a must own game. A near-excellent game. There are a few downsides, among which I should mention the short (but typical for a modern FPS) campaign length of 5-6 hours. At times it's very challenging, and at times the AI is braindead. All in all the SP is short but sweet.

The co-op campaign is also a nice addition and it's very fun to play with a friend. However, the true value lies in the multiplayer.

The co-op campaign is also a nice addition and it's very fun to play with a friend.

However, the true value lies in the multiplayer. Some bash this game and say it's not a "true" successor to BF2. Au contraire, it lives up to its legacy, despite shortcomings like no in-game VoIP (which is replaced by a VoIP client built into BattleLog). Speaking of BattleLog - it's a great addition. You can view the outcome of your games, check your performance or switch servers in no time. Streamlined, but deep.

Back to MP gameplay: It's typical Battlefield on large maps, with plenty of vehicles, but also enough infantry combat to keep it entertaining. Destruction isn't as overdone as in Bad Company 2, and it's easy to understand why - a flat landscape just isn't fun to play in. There is virtually no lag - the netcode is perfect, allowing 64 players to enjoy the game.

System requirements may be high, but it's for the greater good. The visuals are stunning. Crysis, The Witcher 2, Metro 2033. Battlefield 3 is better in most areas. And the sounds? Bad Company 2's sound was great, but BF3 takes all that to a whole new level. Turning your volume all the way up might just scare your neighbour so bad he might run off to the bomb shelter in his backyard thinking a war broke out.

Put short: The campaign isn't very memorable, and it's short, but it's enough to keep you entertained when your internet is down. And the co-op is a nice icing on the sweet cake that is the multiplayer which is more complex and deep than any previous BF game's and might keep you pinned to your seat for hundreds and even thousands of hours.

Never in all my 30 years of gaming has an experience such as this been available - sure the previous Battlefield iterations have come close but clearly progression has resulted in perfection. The singleplayer campaign mode, an obvious "hey we can do this" feature is not something you buy this title for - I can guarantee you that nobody who bought this game bought it with the singleplayer in mind. People know what the Battlefield series is about, it sells itself. Consider the campaign as a bonus feature. And yes it has nothing on, for example, COD's epic movie-style gameplay. But if that's how you're thinking about this game, you're thinking about it all wrong.

The real meat in BF3 lies in the multiplayer, and any human being who enjoys a competitive fps will dig this game.

While BFBC2 had only big, urban maps, BF 3 has a variety of them. Purely urban, purely rural, miyed, etc. This time map design is not like "hill, hill, tree, house, tree", which is a really positive thing for me. The co-op campaign is fun to play, however it could have been a bit longer, and sometimes it lacks creativity, but anyways, it's fun if you have a skilled friend to play with. The singleplayer also changed since BC2, it's linear, and scripted, similar to the CoD games. If you like, CoD-style SP, then you probably will enjoy the ~5-6 hours of it. I was a bit disappointed though, i expected a much deeper and character-based storyline. Don't get me wrong, i liked it, and BTW it has a story on par with the Modern Warfare games' SP, but for comparison, Black Ops had a much better and deeper story.

So my final verdict on this game: it totally worth its money, you are gonna have TONS of fun playing the multiplayer (if you are not afraid of playing games that require actual skill). It is the perfect shooter for me, so i give it a 10/10.

Solid game. You'll find that most of the low ratings that bring the overall score of this game down will be because of the following - Singleplayer, Battelog, Origin, or user errors (IE: Compatibility problems, inadequate hardware, etc...). Singleplayer - I never play Single-Player personally and know most of my fellow PC gamers choose MP over SP. I don't know why anyone would pay $60 toSolid game. I don't know why anyone would pay $60 to play a static pre-defined plot for a day when there is a robust and dynamic MP option. BF3 is all about MP anyways and probably would have been better off without SP like BF2. There rating would be higher if this were the case.

Battlelog - I dislike this as well. The only reasoning I can see for this is either a development obstacle without ample time to overcome or because they thought it would be a good idea to "integrate" the stats and what-not with the game-browser. I think integration is a great idea but it's not really integration if you are relying on another program, or middle-man. In either case, it's bearable and probably will just take some getting used to. Not so much of a hindrance, more-so a head-scratcher. Origin - While it may seem to make sense to bash Origin and BF3 for using it over Steam or a stand-alone install, it's important to understand the reasoning behind this rather than bashing BF3 out of ignorance. Do your research first...

User-Errors - It's absolutely ridiculous how users will rate a game, or anything for that matter, bad when they haven't actually played the game or have a personal local issue that interferes with their ability to play correctly. 90% of the time it's not the game itself that's at fault. The remaining 10% of issues are typically dealt with through updates/patches but even still I view it unfair to rate a game poorly until such time as you've actually played the game. I recommend dismissing any reviews like this and strongly encourage anyone reading this to avoid following this trend as well. With that said, I've only had issues with this game when trying to install it through Origin. This was the same issue I had in Alpha and Beta though and it was an OS problem, not the game (Setup a fresh partition and was set). I've played without any kind of issues at all since launch. The game is truly revolutionary.

My only complaints with the game are - Stuck at a stat overview of your killer when you die for a few seconds, can't customize your loadout between rounds, there isn't any in-depth weapon stats or way to view future upgrades in game (Only can see your next upgrade), and the RPG impact to a vehicle looks odd and doesn't seem to do as much as you'd expect (Leading to RPGs being used on Infantry more).

Overall, despite some minor complaints and excluding SP, I think this game is fantastic and give it a 10 out of 10 accordingly. I'm sure over the next few months as updates are pushed some of those minor complaints will be eliminated as well. You don't need a hard-core gaming system to run this either - Only if you want to run everything on the highest settings. You can easily play this game on low or even medium with quad-core system with a decent video card (Something made within the past 2 years with at LEAST 512MB GPU DRAM).

For those of you who said the graphics suck... you must be running something lower than an 8800 GTS or you don't know how to adjust graphics. Gameplay is amazing, sounds are too realistic and the multiplayer is beautiful. Singleplayer was eh and the Origin idea was garbage. 10000x better than CoD.

-_________- Battlefield. 'Nuff said. Enough with all these bad ratings. The campaign was bad. SO what? Campaigns usually = 5-12 hours. MULTIPLAYER = hundreds of thousands of hours of gameplay.

I know it get's criticized for not being more like Battlefield 2, but really, if you want to play BF2, then go play it. I did not want just an updated Battlefield 2, I did not want Battlefield to follow in the footsteps of Call of Duty. I wanted Battlefield 3 to stand on it's own and be a mix of what has come before it. In my opinion, that's exactly what I got. The game has aspects of BF2 with advancements made in BC2. Though not perfect by any means, I think DICE did a great job advancing the series. Graphically, the game is simply beautiful. Coupled with the sound and the atmosphere of the maps, you can really get sucked right into the battles. You do not feel like you are just playing a game, disconnected from it like you do is many other titles, such as MW3. You feel like you are playing a Hollywood movie, like you are a part of the battle, a part of the action. I have played every Battlefield game, I have hundreds of hours invested in BF2, and countless more in all the other titles combined, so I do consider myself a "veteran" of the series. That being said, overall I am very happy with the game and I can not wait to get my hands on all the DLC slated for the game, starting with Back to Karkand! Great job EA/DICE. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is great. The graphics are absolutely stunning. The game play is great! it feels like you are in an actual battle especially on dark maps when you can see the bullets flying past you. The sounds are immaculate, put on some good quality headphones and take off in a jet and you'll know what im talking about. The single player seemed to excel where Bad company 2 did poorly but did poorly where bad company 2 excelled if that makes any sense. In Bad company 2, you knew the characters from the cut scenes and knew exactly what was going on but the story line was shallow and cliche. Bf3's story line was deeper and had a twist but the characters were under developed and i felt no sadness when two of my "best friends" died or when i had to kill my commanding officer. One more thing, EA **** everyone over with this origin **** but this review is for Battlefield 3 and not EA. Overall i would defiantly recommend this game to anyone because of how immersive it is. I was a fan of the Bad Company single players. They weren't the best, but at least the characters had some personality. BF3 single player is not good. DICE tried to be cod (and i don't think cod has a good sp either). Far to often DICE resorts to stupid quicktime events, which involve repeatedly pressing a button to do stupid stuff. For me? I bought this game soley for the multiplayer, so it is the perfect game. Im not a battlefield vet in the sense that i did not play BF2, but i have been playing nothing but BFBC2 for over a year now.

About Origin, it not that EA wanted to make more money on their platform it was due to service agreements with steam, not allowing EA to release patches as soon as they release and make everything complicated, this was also the case for games like minecraft not on steam. if you guys are not playing the game coz of origin then you are truly missing out on a great title. origin is not part of the game, it was clearly not DICE's decision to make, plus if you were really annoyed by origin there is always tools to bypass it. The game is designed to entertaining for hours on online multi player, if all you gona play is single player than dont buy it. The real deal is the MP that has been always the case with this title. If i have to score sp i would give this game a big 0 just as i gave MW3 but to be honest it is better to have no sp than that crap of one in MW3. On to the mp portion of he game:

It is one of the best if i could compare it is the same gratifying experience as in SC2. The maps are greatly done and detailed on the PC version 32 vs 32 it is f.. hell to play u need to have a great squad behind your back to survive and to kick some ass in the process. The classes are balanced right of the bat except for some minor OP of the engineer class but i think that will be fixed soon. The environment and immersion in the mp can only bee done by Dice. The sound of the guns and armor units planes flying above your heads are AMAZING. The frostbite 2 engine i will not mention because hey there is not so much to say except when it comes to rendering maps and all of that detail FROStBITE 2 is God in engine department :))

The origin battle log system, at first i hated it but using it it kinda grow on me it is easy to navigate and it feels like a browser we all use in our daily lives. I can explain in detail so much because it would be a loong review u just have to see it for your self and decide

If anyone still has illusions that call of duty is(or has ever been) better MULTIPLAYER game than any Battlefield pls go say that to a shrink because there's definitely something wrong with your judging abilities.

So I gave up, but the multiplayer is great fun. Very large levels, with destructive objects all around. Think it's cheap that the one guy is just hanging out behind that one wall all the time killing people?? Just blow up the wall! The other great thing is that you get points for supporting your team, giving them health or supplies, etc... so you can upgrade your character without doing any killing if you so choose to.

My system is about a year old if not more, but pretty hefty built. It handles the game well, sometimes some choppiness but nothing game killing.

I haven't noticed very many horrible glitches personally, just the occasional killed body bouncing around, or camera inside a wall when showing who killed you. So really nothing that kills the game for me.

Awesome mp and a decent sp, some bugs and issues are still plaguing some ppl but they should get fixed overtime. If you played open beta and liked it, you will love final release.

But well my review need to be at least 150 characters long so here I'm speaking about it ...

Great game although the single player could have been longer but then when can it not be longer. The graphics where the best i have seen in a long time. The multiplayer is the best thing since Battle Field 2. Endless fun just like the the second version. And stop comparing it to MW3 a game which is not even out yet nor has had an open beta.

The markets needs a gmae like this. In PC is the next generation all console entusiast wants to see. One step ahead. Nice. And the multiplayer mode is simply the best. Here Battlefiled is God. The campaign? There is a campaing... not for me. I'm playing multi and don't need any more, thank you. GOTY. Best game of the yerar for Dice...

Despite the many flaws I would love to see fixed, this game is solid fun. Looking forward to BC3 if they make it...the game would be so much more superior to MW if they would spend more time polishing the product - just like in BC2...come on DICE I'm pulling for you guys - let's add the term "polish" to your vocabulary.

Heyyo, must say I love this game. Graphics are amazing, the use of physics on vehicles is improved a lot (Jets are epic to fly now!) and just overall the way the game handles itself is really well done. Once this game gets a patch or three? It'll be perfect. Great work on this DICE and I hope it outsells stupid Modern Warfare 3 where nothing is changed.. oh, and COD Elite costs money and does the same stuff as free Battlelog... man Activision is just milking them COD fan-boys eh? :P Expand

DICE did a great job with this game. I honestly thought it would be worse than BF2 what with the quicker deaths and the like, but this game exceeded my expectations with fun additions like jets and other little tweaks. The single player is actually worse than BC2's, which I thought was good, though not great, but the multiplayer here is what matters. This game deserves 9.5 out of 10 only because of Damavand Peak multiplayer map. Not in my whole life I have experienced something as breathtaking as playing this map with my buddies. This game is a 100% must have.

The game is freekin great, no team voice is kinda stupid, i mean the hl2 engine games all have that built in, come on. can't destroy placed AA guns and AT guns, which kinda sucks, and the helicopters have all been consolized for ease of use, (i liked the desert combat REAL piloting required)

The game is stunning. Definitely a major step forward from BC2 and way ahead of it's competitors in terms of multiplayer.

    I'm running on a Core2Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz, HD5850 1GB and 4GB OCZ DDR2 800 RAM at 1080p and it auto-configured itself to run on high/ultra settings.
My fps are solid and really smooth, even on big maps like Caspian border with 64 players.

Reviewers are rating the game down for the singleplayer campaign (which I haven't tried yet), which I think is really unfair, considering if you ignored the singleplayer, the game is arguably the best online FPS game out there to date.

TL/DR: Seriously, anyone complaining about this game are full of it....

Absolute Heaven. Playing it on PC with all of the settings cranked really makes this game shine. The single player story is pretty corny, but the attention to detail and realism is unmatched by any franchise. Multiplayer is where this game excels and is an experience that competitors will try to beat for years to come. Heck, even most the bugs have been ironed out. Good work DICE. EA onAbsolute Heaven. What do you get when you put in 64 players,60FPS,Jets,Tanks,Squads,Large Maps,Destructible Enviroments? Simple you get Battlefield 3; it's multiplayer is just plain flat out fun. Look up in the sky and you'll see epic jet battles; there are so many ways to play. I can not describe how good this multiplayer is.

I give this game a 9/10. The multiplayer gameplay is excellent. The new game engine helped a lot in this release and you will notice immediately. Singleplayer is fun, it has an interesting story, beautiful scenery, and great gameplay. The AI in singleplayer (on Hard - haven't tried other difficulties) are decently challenging. To a novice, Hard would be nearly impossible. Which I like.I give this game a 9/10. The multiplayer gameplay is excellent. The ONLY reason I take off 1 point of 10 is because of the lack of an in-game menu of any sort. You cannot change servers from in-game. You must exit the game and use their web page (aka Battlelog) to navigate servers. No thank you. However, overall the game definitely has a lot more Pros than Cons. There is no way anyone should be able to give this game less than a 5.0 honestly. Anything less than 5 is someone Nerd Raging.

This game is extremely good in pretty much every point for a FPS (yes see how i mentioned FPS it's not a RPG so stop QQing it's not Shakespeare tbh I prefer this to other fps stories), awesome weapons/ animations/ lighting/ audio (which needs a special mention because its only non horror game thats made me literally duck in rl) and general movement of the player (which before BF3 had always has been better in the call of duty series,no hate please). Also the awesome new mechanic that they have brought to the FPS series, "suppression" which makes it a better shooter than most because suppression actually makes players get down and flank and work together to destroy an enemy fortification rather than just spray at each other in till one of you are dead.
( I held the far right section in the second stage (Metro section) in the beta with m249 against about 7-8 players because they were suppressed and the only thing that stopped me was that i had to reload and retreat and thats just awesome)

Plus guys give battlelog a go. I literally can't see why people are hating on it apart from that its just a browser rather than a menu, it really doesn't matter. In fact this way is quicker this gets me in the game quicker than a menu. I don't have look at adverts or promos or menu screens it's literally firefox/battlelog quick match bang i'm in game in less than 30 seconds I'm not sure why that is a problem apart from it's different you're all just browser racists (LOL).

Several bugs plague this game like any other but the thing with DICE is that they will work on it (like they did BF2 and BC2) and make it a better experience rather than pretty much every other company (apart from say valve or blizzard) which will be just working on DLC now just rape you're wallets. The most fun I've had in an FPS since Cod4 ;)

The single player of the game is fun, but it's definitely apparent (and anyone who knows anything about the primary Battlefield series to know that this is true) that the focus was on designing the games multiplayer. In addition to the single player, the added co-op is enjoyable as well, giving a useful distraction from the multiplayer when needed. All in all, this is by far the best FPS that has been released in several years and a breath of fresh air when compared to other recent FPS releases. Expand

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.
