Phenomenal CRPG and GOTY for me, probably even best of the last 5+ years. 100% recommend to any gamer. Really hope to see more great RPGs like this in the future!

This is the best RPG I have played in a very long time.

Exploring the vast world is an adventure in itself. Every nook and cranny seems to hold secrets, each corner beckoning with the promise of a new tale to be unfolded. The landscapes are not just visually breathtaking, but they resonate with stories, quests, and mysteries that are begging to be unraveled.
Playing multiplayer is reminiscent of those epic D&D sessions with friends - a mix of strategy, camaraderie, and shared tales of valor. And the depth of content? Staggering. But what truly gets my adrenaline pumping is the character progression. Every level up feels like a triumph, ushering in new avenues of gameplay and strategies.

In essence, Baldur's Gate 3 isn't merely a game for me. It's a continuously unfolding epic, an evergreen adventure that I deeply treasure.

This is a truly enchanting game. I've been playing for 60 hours (just finished the second act), and I just don't understand how the developers made it so that the game does not get boring and does not get boring.

    Well-built storyline.
Money instead of advertising and stars here actually went to the quality of the product.

    Additionally.
-No paid dlc on release day.
    -No microtransactions.
    -No lootboxes

Even the recently fashionable political/ideological propaganda is not too intrusive.

Awesome game. It draws in its non-linearity and variety of everything you can do. There is everything here, from stealthy and thoughtful passage to madness and rash decisions that will most likely complicate the game, but the game does not become less interesting. In general 10/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, before I start I'm going to say that I've completed the game with a custom character on tactician. Despite my review of a 10, the game isn't perfect. I'm giving it a 10 because at the time of this review the User Score is sitting at a 9.3, and frankly I think the game is closer to a 9.5-9.7. I could sit here and go into detail on all the ways the game is amazing, but its much easier to explain all the problems. Note again: There will be direct spoilers as to certain combat encounters and story beats will be directly referenced.
1). Optimization following act 1 can be subpar. The game can become choppy and I tried several times to fix it to no avail. The first point I noticed it was on the escort section of the path to the moonrise towers.
2). I think there were missed opportunities in regards to companion dynamics. Some companions get far more love than others in terms of reactions and conversations. The most glaring example is Minthara. I recruited her, and she barely reacted to anything throughout act 2, until the end. She started to become more vocal around act 3, and I was excited to see more interaction only for that to ultimately stagnate to a fairly formulaic set of dialogue options that every companion suffers from in the final act. Additionally, I think that companion romances should generally be opt-in rather than opt-out. Unless it makes sense for the character to be particularly flirty due to personality *cough* Astarion *cough* it feels off when you're just trying to be nice and suddenly everyone thinks you're in a relationship *cough* Gale *cough*.
3). There were certain departures from the way that 5e's combat system works that I think were ultimately not good decisions. The most egregious example is most likely the bonus action shove. For context during the Cazador fight, I had a cleric cast Sunlight (or w/e the name of the level three light up an opject/area spell is). Then I had a martial character run up to him from where he had run (directly to the edge of the platform which we were fighting upon) and shove him with like an 85-90% chance of success. Theoretically, a bonus action one-shot the boss 80-90% of the time probably shouldn't be in the game. During some of the later fights steps were made to counter this strategy. I'm on the fence about multiple leveled spells per turn, and sneak attack should be a toggle feature such that it can be used on reactions. Or there should be a reaction Attack of Opportunity sneak attack at the bare minimum.
4). Larian is full of absolute bastards. They fully coded in Undead patron warlock and Conquest paladins as enemies, but didn't make them playable subclasses. I haven't played a warlock, so maybe there are patron specific interactions and adding an additional warlock patron would have required additional work, but I would have played a conquest paladin in an instant if it was in the game. */rant over*
Now here's the thing. That's all of my problems with this game over a 72 hour playthrough. The combat might not be for everyone, but that's true of any genre. All of these problems don't change the fact that the game is incredibly good. I saw one criticism that BG3 is too dissimilar to the original BG games by virtue of the fact that BG3 is turn based. To that I will say that the original BG games were also turn based, they just disguised the turns by when actions triggered. The story beats that hit, hit hard. I haven't felt the feeling of "Anything is possible" more in probably any game ever, particularly of a narratively heavy game. They recommended uninstalling early access before installing the full game on release, and I said in my review *jokingly* "We'd better be able to **** a mindflayer or the people riot"... It was a joke Larian you sick ****s. However, I asked and they answered and as a matter of respect I obliged. The game feels like a theme park where at most of the rides they put "Here's a big red button, I'm not telling you to push it, but the option is there". DOS 2 was a widely acclaimed game when it came out, and BG3 is effectively DOS 2, but better by pretty much every metric. I think it deserves GOTY, if they decide to release a standalone sequel or DLC I'd buy it happily.
Finally, as a commentary on the idea that "BG3 is setting a new standard on games, or it should not" all I can say is this, BG3 is extraordinary. I think that if Larian's methods were instituted on a broader scale people would be more likely to get better games. That being said, it likely will not happen and I think the criticism of developers is misattributed because corporations don't view what Larian has done as being the most optimal method of producing profit. That's a shame because it hurts consumers most in the end, and the only impact we can have on that is to support the games that do have time and care put into them.
Big thanks to Larian for making a great product.

With a vast world to explore with varied stories and secrets to discover, Baldur's Gate 3 definitely shines. The cast is largely appealing and voice acting is top notch all-around, even if the storytelling and line delivery is varied in its pace. Character progression is somewhat weak in the opening levels but has a strong foundation for a great buildcraft experience, even if it lacks some on the fly experimentation seen in Larian's past efforts. Despite some performance woes in the later parts of the game and controller hangups, this is a journey worth taking for fans of Dungeons & Dragons or those new to the role playing field.

Larian Studios, the creators of the latest installment, have gone to great lengths to make sure they didn't disgrace any of the franchise's building blocks. The love and care is evident in Baldur's Gate 3, though needless to pretend, there aren't a few bricks crumbling here and there in this monument. It's far from a perfect title, but on the whole Baldur's Gate 3 is a brilliant computer RPG that is undoubtedly not to be overlooked. [Issue#329]

Baldur’s Gate III is a title that many would not have thought possible just a few years ago. The game serves to further Larian Studios’s already strong reputation, and the studio deserves massive credit for refusing to panic, taking its time to get things right, and continuing to offer improvements even after launch at an impressive rate. Hopefully, it is able to reap the richly deserved rewards for doing so.
