The PERFECT RPG, Bioware should learn from this game, AAA publishers does'nt make games like this anymore, LAZY developers complaining about the large scope of the game just shows how screwed up the industry is nowadays.

The characters are very unique, each character has their personality differ from others which makes it easier to recognize when there are hundreds of character in the game.

The story is very well-written since it gives me the details little by little when I am progressing and this brings up my curiosity and want to know more about what's going on. I honestly thought I would give up halfway before I started playing this game because of the combat, but in the end, I have no regret at all for playing the game. It really worths my time spent in the game and it gives me the satisfaction of exploring and doing the strategy based combat.

El tema de la banda sonora ya es bastante obvio como para comentarlo, pero lo diré en una palabra: excelente.
Una de las cosas que más me gusta es que es un juego hecho para adultos. Además hay romances y escenas para todos los gustos.

The love, care, and attention to detail at every angle is staggering. Larian Studios is leading by example and showing the rest of the industry how it's done.

Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty close to an authentic table-top role-playing game.
You are basically free to do whatever you want. It's both frightening and refreshing.
It's beautiful and the musics are very nice.

I'll try to describe how I've lived the game. I've spent 110 hours to finish the game the first time.
The story was epic. I've experienced a love story with a woman companion that I thought was interesting. I was pretty satisfied with the conclusion.
Immediately after I've started another game with a completely different character and romanced another woman. The romance story unraveled very differently so it was new again. The story was still epic even if I approached the various events differently (and it worked).

I will not forget this game any time soon.
It has been a long time I've played something so revolutionary.

Divinity: Original sin was good but the first act was really annoying and way too puzzle-ish for my taste.

Divinity: Original sin II, first act was a bit too hard but the game became more balanced after you gained a few levels. I think this was made so you really feel that you are in a bad situation and it's not easy to get out of it.
Baldur's Gate 3 is perfectly balanced on all difficulty levels from the start and the game is really fun from the first scene. The story is crazy and the game is just awesome, the replayability of it is insane.

The only weakness I can find is the lack of identity of the characters. I mean, I wish that instead of all the characters being pansexual, each character had their own sexual orientation. But again, this is a personal opinion, not a professional opinion, and I can't reduce the score because of this

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played pretty much every CRPG worth mentioning since the first Ultima game came out back in the 1980s. To say that I have seen everything and that I am a hard man to impress would be an understatement. My favorite games and golden standard to which I compared every game since the late 90s were the original Baldur's Gate games and Planescape Torment. To be honest when I heard that Larian Studios is making BG3, I was worried. Namely, I played some of their games and I wasn't impressed with what I saw.

Divinity Original Sin 1 to me was an average game with decent combat mechanics, brilliant point and click adventure/puzzle elements, but unfortunately subpar writing, lore and characters. So, a score of 5/10 seemed appropriate. To me, the worst offender in DOS1 was Larian's tendency to overindulge in overacted humor, which clashed with darker themes of the game. I know this is a bit subjective, but to me the focus on humor completely ruined any immersion I had at the beginning of the game.

Luckily, Divinity Original Sin 2 was much better in terms of consistency in tone - but I still wasn't too impressed with their writing and the characters. It was noticeably better, but much of Divinity's lore and setting still felt a bit too generic for my taste. Still, improvements in Larian's already excellent design in terms of choices and consequences, freedom and even better point and click adventure/puzzle elements made me give DOS2 a strong 9/10 - despite all of its flaws.

And now we come to BG3. I was skeptical. When I saw the first gameplay videos... I thought... 'Even if it's as good as DOS2, it might be a good game, but it doesn't look like Baldur's Gate that I remember. It looks like DOS2 mod or at best DOS3!' Yet... I thoroughly enjoyed DOS2, so I decided to give it a try - and oh boy am I glad that I did.
    1. You can't go wrong with DnD system, which is just objectively better than what Larian cooked up with their Divinity games.
    2. Same can be said about the setting and lore. There is just something magical about visiting the Forgotten Realms.
    3. I don't know if Larian hired new writers, but the writing is superb! The story, the characters, my god... I just fell in love with it. Even the characters which at first glance seemed too modern or too weird to fit into Forgotten Realms, I absolutely fell in love with! Case and point, Karlach. When I first met her, she was too loud for me. She liked to swear a lot and when she said she wants to kill some paladins, I thought I would not be adding her to my party anytime soon. I mean, she didn't even look like she belongs in that world, since she gave me the impression like she is some kind of a biker girl from a futuristic Cyberpunk gang. Yet... I took her on a quest once and she was a damn good fighter. Then I started learning about her through conversations... and suddenly her behavior made sense. There is a reason why she is the way she is... and it fits her perfectly. The voice actress did an amazing job and now she is a constant part of all my adventures. The only problem is that all other characters are just as interesting, so it is such a hard choice whenever I need to leave someone behind.
    4. The combat is amazing. Part of it is certainly because of the DnD ruleset, which opens so many more options for each character to shine in its own unique way. But the biggest reason is that every big battle is like a mini-puzzle game in its own right with multiple solutions that feel incredibly satisfying. This might be a slight spoiler, but I came across a hag who quadrupled herself after my conversation with her turned sour. Each of her clones did insane damage for my under-leveled party. Basically 1 shot from her magic blast was enough to kill my characters straight away. And now there were 4 of them. What's worse... her quadruple spell made her almost impossible to hit (with only 20% hit chance). After only 1 turn, my party was pretty much decimated - and I couldn't even hope to land a hit. I was sure, I can't win, but I decided to at least try and hurt her before I meet my creator. In order to achieve this new goal, I could really rely only on one L1 spell. My Eldritch Knight that still barely clinged to life - had magic missile. Magic missile always hits with 100% certainty and it can target multiple targets, but the damage is horrible. So, prepared to meet my doom, I divided my magic missiles so that each of the 4 hags gets their fair share of pain... and... to my surprise, when the magic missile landed, it dispelled the hag's quadruple spell. With her illusion gone, I could finally hit her! A hopeless situation turned to hope if only I could somehow heal my knocked-out party. To make the long story short... I won the encounter!

Anyway... I haven't felt like this about a video game for a very long time. BG3 is a masterpiece that makes me feel like a kid again. I thought I would never feel like this again. Thank you, Larian!

People used to understand that games of this size, scope & ambition would inevitably have bugs, unintended glitches & even performance issues. However, the game does so darn much & is so insanely fun that any issues I experienced never impacted my overall experience. Wacky things pop up in crowded combat, and there are times where I've had huge performance drops. It's inconsistent, but the nature of the game mitigates how much it distracts from the experience. It's a bit more annoying in cutscenes or dialogue, but otherwise it didn't bother me much. I have experienced one crash after level up, but nothing else.

The only reason I'm detailing this stuff & not all it does well is because this review would go on FOREVER if I took that route. Better to touch on the handful of issues, then tell you everything else is just amazing. Even though games like Skyrim & BotW are completely different games than BG3, I feel a similar level of "this is amazing" while also accepting the bugs & flaws that come with it.

Hopefully because it's not tied to some specific console via exclusivity, fans will be more tolerant of these things instead of latching on to them in order to bolster the fanboy console wars.

I am now on my second playthrough, in a coop campaign with friends/family. The game is even more fun when playing together with people you like/love. I am a dungeon master running a campaign in 5e, and I swear this is as close as you can get to actually playing D&D with a competent and fun dungeon master.

I'm not sure why people are trying to review bomb this game? I guess some are Starfield fans (a game that I also own, that I find enjoyable when it is heavily modded, otherwise I'm having a hard time standing it in it's base game, it is so shallow compared to BG3). I am a D&D player/DM, and a veteran of old school computer rpgs (Planescape, BG1/2, NWN1, Kotor, DaO etc), and I fully endorse this game. Don't let the haters disuade you from getting this game, most of them seem to be suffering from mental troubles to be frank, and if you check the accounts most of them are newly made and the only game reviewed is BG3. I dislike these mental midgets, they rolled a 1 when they left their mothers wombs.

    Original review:

I am a dungeon master in 5e, and have been playing tabletop since 3e. One of my all time greats is BG2, and I also love Neverwinter Nights, Planescape Torment, and BG1 (and also Dragon age origins). This game is immense, very well crafted. A lot of the dialogue is intelligent, and full of humor (just like many older rpgs). I was afraid that there would not be another RPG like this, for many years, or perhaps ever. The Witcher 3 was also great, I love that game, and this is just as good (but now I'm playing as a drow bard called Turnip Jansen, instead of the eminent Geralt of Rivia). As a dungeon master, and an avid pc player of computer rpg, I can say without a doubt, this is as close you will get to the true experience of DnD with an experienced and dedicated DM, as you can get in a single player experience. This game has an insane replay potential. If you are remotly interested in RPG, you should do youself a favor and get this game.

Because Baldur's Gate 3 has once again PROVEN that great games CAN be made WITHOUT microtransactions, WITHOUT massive day one patches, WITHOUT horrific glitches, bugs and being an unfinished mess. So other developers now have ZERO excuses not to match BG3 in terms of game quality, gameplay and polish. Larian studios is now the industry STANDARD on how to make a good game and has proven that it's NOT impossible to make a good game and STILL remain within the $60 price tag. They have PROVEN all the other studios to be LIARS that just want to do less work, with less effort, for more money. With a vast world to explore with varied stories and secrets to discover, Baldur's Gate 3 definitely shines. The cast is largely appealing and voice acting is top notch all-around, even if the storytelling and line delivery is varied in its pace. Character progression is somewhat weak in the opening levels but has a strong foundation for a great buildcraft experience, even if it lacks some on the fly experimentation seen in Larian's past efforts. Despite some performance woes in the later parts of the game and controller hangups, this is a journey worth taking for fans of Dungeons & Dragons or those new to the role playing field.

Larian Studios, the creators of the latest installment, have gone to great lengths to make sure they didn't disgrace any of the franchise's building blocks. The love and care is evident in Baldur's Gate 3, though needless to pretend, there aren't a few bricks crumbling here and there in this monument. It's far from a perfect title, but on the whole Baldur's Gate 3 is a brilliant computer RPG that is undoubtedly not to be overlooked. [Issue#329]

Baldur’s Gate III is a title that many would not have thought possible just a few years ago. The game serves to further Larian Studios’s already strong reputation, and the studio deserves massive credit for refusing to panic, taking its time to get things right, and continuing to offer improvements even after launch at an impressive rate. Hopefully, it is able to reap the richly deserved rewards for doing so.
