Balancity is a very good game is it one of my favorite 2D games and it's pretty hard but once you understand the mechanics it is a little easy.

A parody on SimCity, mixed with Tetris-like block building and keeping a shaky balance of pieces on a platform. Their promotion video expains it well. Their promotion video expains it well. Overall, it's a nice, interesting game which is fun at least for a while. However, it has some annoyances which somewhat spoil the fun, and it does get stale after maybe a couple hours playing, unless you really take it seriously and strive to build a very tall city.

    The good:
    - very interesting concept, makes fun of city building games
    - nice humor, and the music helps with setting the light-hearted, humorous tone
    - it's hilarious when after placing, say, a coal power plant way off to the side, your whole city starts tipping over and slides down! It's even more fun that nothing helps to stop the slide, even if you start dropping one power plant after another on the other side. It's honest physics

    The so-so:
    - the graphics are "indie"-style, pixelated. This looks funny at first, but the ugliness did get on my nerves after a while. The game is just not nice to look at. I mean there are games with pixelated graphics which still have some taste but this one I didn't really like. Maybe it's the plain, 8-bit (?) colors. It's still probably also a matter of taste, dunno
    - it's often hard to tell if placing some building at some place would tip the balance. E.g. you can't see how much any of the buildings weighs. Well, I know it's a casual game, not a strategy or something...

    The bad:
    - super-annoying stuff going on in your city which you need to click. E.g. a citizen getting robbed - whatever you where doing, you need to drop that and click the robber (and find him on the screen first). This crap is just tedious micromanagement which doesn't add anything to the game
    - annoying advisors which show modal popups requiring a click to show the text in full instantly (otherwise they slowly type their message), and another click to close. Sometimes they even disable buttons and force you to build what they want you to. This breaks the flow. Besides, whenever you start a new game, they repeat the same tutorial messages
    - annoying sounds like "help me!" - that one is really bad
    - often blocks just don't merge into megablocks or later skyscrappers. Yes, there are >10 occupants in each of the blocks, but they don't merge. It's never clear why. Sometimes you wait for maybe 10 seconds - and the megablock appears. Sometime it doesn't, even if you wait for a minute. This makes you delete blocks and place them again over and over, wait for 10 seconds, then try again. Annoying as hell
    - as said, there isn't much depth into the game. After the initial lols you have this "ok, got it" feeling and want to move on to something else.

This game may be good to show to your friends when they come over to your place. Or to play for a while with your wife/girlfriend for some funny time together. Just don't expect anything more serious that this game really is.

BalanCity ist kein schlechtes Spiel, aber leider auch kein besonders gutes. Es schwächelt zu sehr am monotonen Spielkonzept, mit dem keine Spannung aufkommt.

A solid, tense and enjoyable experience which is perfect if you have 15 minutes to kill. A lack of overall design and the small number of different levels however, might not keep you interested for long.
