As usual, Vogel takes us on a journey. That’s what he does. And this is a big one. A real big one. It’s short on fizz and shiny graphics but rich on adventure and a sense of worlds, in their own mundane sense of fantasy/reality. A couple of bugs here and there, but apart from that, it’s a lovely nostalgic burst of rpg goodness. And that’s what we’re here for. Forget innovation, just takeAs usual, Vogel takes us on a journey. Forget innovation, just take me away to grim skies and unexplored canyons and forests. One day Vogel will use a new engine. I will be very excited when that happens. Until then, this is comforting and really enjoyable. Expand

Spiderweb Software's Vogel would be the first to admit it's a niche game for a niche audience. But the game's honesty to that niche, and its reverence for classical RPG design and structure, make it a rare, even precious breed among modern games, and there's a reason that, for all the games I've played and deleted off my iPad, I've never taken a Spiderweb Software game off it. And I'll never remove Avernum 3, either.
