For me it feels like a very old game, especially when coming from Elderscrolls and Gw2. The character textures and appearance is very good but the buildings and plants and world around feels very clunky and old looking. Kinda blocky buildings etc. Cities are empty, npcs standing in clusters doing nothing and huge spaces where the is no life whatsoever. You very rarely hear your own characters voice, so there is a lot of reading text boxes. The interface is buggy and problematic, I tried to enlarge my skill bar so I could better use it and half of my lower skill bar disappeared under the screen. Trying to move the skill bars using shift and left click didn't work for me most of the time either.
The game-play is very old time, fetch quests. BUT I did like some of the main stories, the best being the warborn. Unfortunately the main stories end at level 30 and while you continue the 'substitute' main story and sidequests, they are pretty bland and typical of older games. Its a hard slog getting from 30 to 50 even using xp potions I must say.
I believe the server must be very quiet, the trade-broker on both the NA and EU had very little armor and weapons for sale as opposed to most the MMO's I've played. Luckily every few levels the game rewards your character with a set of new armor. I liked the armor styles but was disappointed to see there was no way to preview the armor before buying, who would spend a fortune on a new armor from the broker without previewing?

Sad to see there was no in-game stylist, this would have kept me playing for longer having more cosmetic options. Especially as I am happy to be a paying player. But not so keen to pay real world money for changing my look on top of a monthly fee.

I found the crafting and building systems unneccessarily complicated and impractical. For all the different materials needed for crafting and building, its a wonder there isn't a material storage system implemented into the game as there is in other mmos.

Im glad I gave Archeage another look but feel very sorry that it doesn't live up to the hype from launch or even from reading others reviews.

Id like to see them properly introduce flying and even allowing people the chance to own and train their own dragons, the dragon system is very exclusive, cash shop and guild reliant. What a shame for us casual players eh?

I experienced PVP sometimes when out leveling my character, because the maps are so empty I really didn't have to worry about being constantly killed when doing quests in danger zones. Quite funny really cause I was expecting it.

Personally I think they should scrap this game, take their ideas and build it again using a better engine with better graphics and better and more simple systems implemented. Update and improve is necessary for this game to compete with the other great and formidable mmo's out there.

Sometimes feels like a pretty Farmville on the watching your farms grow. The BIGGEST problem is the lack of planning and the ridiculous queue lines. IF you have paid them money or free to play you can expect to see queue lines from 500-4k depending on when you try to log in. The game is worth trying, but until the can figure out how to deal with the log in problems I would wait. Your time is better spent watching paint dry in stead of the queue count down. Expand

You have everything already because of how linear the questing is, and the only thing left for players to do is to build a house, but there is no reason for it anyway because it contains minimalistic interactivity. The combat is mediocre at best taking after pretty much every MMO nowadays just without the charm. The environments are dull, and the enemies are like something you would find out of Wizard 101, including their AI. Also, as is with many free to play games, there is an in game shop where you can buy currency to purchase in game items. In most games this would be really fair, take War Thunder for example, but in this game, you can have exclusive items TOP TIER items when you get to level 30, which is 20 levels below max. This game is not worth anyone's time unless they just want to get through the tedious questing to see why everyone says this game is great, because you won't find that answer while going through your questing phase, and you will most certainly never find that answer after end game. In a spam of almost 3 month, over 1000 hours, 50k gold I bought thru sites I was able to get the highest grade of weapons currently available thru crafting. Something that is almost impossible for anyone without patronage and the use of illegal sites that sells gold can get in that amount of time I got the best armor and 2H great axe, unless your ready to grind 3 months for only one piece of gear or weapon , don't brother, quest gear can be good and is aright but never comes close to crafted items, You get the feel if you aren't the monthly sub to need to pretty much only use certain classes although their endless amounts of classes unless you can top tier items which as I said is very taxing for f2p gamers, even with a sub for the game, you are climbing a mountain that XLgames only makes higher and higher for you to get what you want so you can freely and truly have the feeling that you can be anything you want to be in the game. Leveling is a joke. I hit the cap in less then a week. The grind begins when you hit max level with every skill you wish to pursue but it only turns to a chore by the fact that if you want to further develop a skill you need to send time attaining gold, problem is that the game is not even finished a third of the map wasn't done at launch, now part of it is up but only a part not all of it. Fishing is the only real way of making a profit without have to spend too much gold and time on packs and worrying about the economy which a first it sounds like a good idea have a changing economy based on the laws of supply and demand but some time is wasted on these things unless you get a merchant ship which, good luck getting without a army of people helping you, Or you buy the damn thing from someone that can. Even with all my gold this was one part that was even hard for me, but I got one in the end took 2 weeks of endless runs for the necessary items to get this damn thing. I was very happy when I did get all on my own though, only reason this game is not lower then a 4 for me is cause of the naval combat and ships that the devs actually took their time to make , sailing is fun and pirating the other continent is really fun, unless you have people from your continent pking other people of your faction which you can do in certain parts of the world that you will need to go thru in order to get most out of commerce.

To end this, the critics reviews are completely trash this is PAY TO WIN game don't let no one tell you otherwise, If you were hoping for a game where you can have fun farmvilling, you might be ok if you want to spend a little cash, but if you want to make a good PVX character forget it as I have mentioned all the p2w gamers have the land and AH and crafted items which are hard nonetheless with everything you buy to get so your stuck with a few range, sleath, aoe magic battle skills that are effective in battle, overall this game is not one to waste your time and money, this game is very incomplete and even if you play the Korean version you will see that the developers in that game which has been around longer then the NA version has the same core issues they just left the thing as is and only have added more stuff you can buy add-on for ships and new ships and a few world bosses but they don't seem to care about fixing anything. Only how they get a few more bucks off of you, so don't think they will fix the NA version either, in the story they quit at level 35, their is not conclusion at all they literally just quit the story not happens nothing at all , and the rest of the game is the same way. The only thing they managed to get right is the complex crafting systems which is the craziest I have seen in any mmo. This is Hyuna from the Callei server saying this is it for me , Black Desert is going in for closed beta, get yourself a Korean vpn so you can play it.

Most of these tasks are parsed by labor tokens that are earned while logged in (or offline for patrons) Land and crafting have huge significance for this game and most of the land has already been snatched up by those with early access.

As I mentioned - big launch problems. Save yourself the frustration and pass on this one. It might be worth visiting a few months from now but honestly, given my beta impressions, I'm not really all that disappointed to wait.

The reason I give it a 4, is because XLGames trusted Trion with it's North American and European release. Trion did a terrible job. Queue times of up to 6 hours long to get into a server, crashes, terrible lag, broken subscription system, and absolutely no communication to either paid players or free to play players. They essentially tarnished XLGames' name with their management of the release. They have potentially ruined the opinion of thousands of players when it comes to Archeage... when the game itself is quite impressive.

I would be extremely delighted if XLGames decides to sue Trion for damages to their brand.

Then closing the norther island before launch, etc. They even are in their forums saying that they know Population is going down in a couple weeks, as justification NOT to open more servers.

And then whole "If you are running a trade route, we will shut off all forms of fast travel" is just frustrating to no end.

The game has a lot of pros and cons, but the cons are game killers. Pity because the potential is there. They just feel that they'll make more money off gold farmer subscriptions than player subscriptions, and that's who they cater to.

Reason being for my first point, group play in this game matters (Freedich-->Gilda). Numbers matter. Going solo in this game can be a frustrating experience unless you stick to only arenas.

Although ArcheAge offers instanced dungeons, they are lackluster for the most part. If you're a casual PvE player you will enjoy ArcheAge. Trading and fishing will be your sources of income. Farming, gathering, and planting are also helpful in generating materials for trade packs.

You will enjoy this game if...
    - You're a group oriented PvP player and willing to join a guild.
    - Able to devote time into research. Game can be complicated.
    - Casual PvE player with only an hour or two a day for farming/fishing/trading.
    - Have a PC able to run AA in all its' glory.

You will not enjoy this game if...
    - Solo player. Perhaps at first, but you will probably become bored.
    - Botters and hackers exist. Gold spam occurs as well.
    - Land larger than a 8x8 (smallest) is difficult to find unless you have gold to spend. Limiting the amount of crops you can plant.
    - Technical support is slow.

If you're not interested at this point, I recommend just playing WoW for a MMORPG.

If you are interested in still playing, I recommend subbing for a month and giving it a shot. Research builds, money making, etc, and join a guild. During the month your trade and fishing income will help pay for your next month.

    Best of luck

The graphics are outstanding and there are many well done nuances to the world to allow for full game emersion. Building fast clipper ships, merchant trading vessels (or warships) and braving the high (PvP) seas as a merchant, mercenary or pirate all make the game unique and fun to play, but the heart of the game is crafting, trade and commerce. In order to get the full functionality and enjoyment out the game, you need at least a small plot of land (8x8) where you can safely farm the materials you need to craft, trade, and sell a ton of stuff. Here’s the catch: THERE IS NO LAND LEFT IN ARCHEAGE!! I was on a relatively new server with a relatively low population, and after hours and days of hunting for an available plot of land, I found nothing (I’m not unique; this sad song has been sung by many a player). Apparently during the Beta and early days of the release, there was a huge land grab; some players/guilds own several plots of land creating a land monopoly, which essentially shuts out new players. If you can’t find land you have to use either a public farm (which is very restrictive and subject to player theft) or rely on a guild or friend to let you use theirs. Trion will happily charge you the $15/month patron fee, but they do not guarantee you full game functionality, so they’re essentially perpetrating fraud. It’s kind of like paying full price for a car and only getting two wheels. As such, I’d recommend staying with a free-to-play account, which unlocks about 70% of the game content. That said, that’s about all you get with a paid (“Patron”) account since there is no land left to new players, so why pay real money?

Perhaps if Trion develops a queue that eventually allowed one to at least get a 16x16 farm, then it might be worth sticking with a patron account. It would make more sense, however, to open up more land to new players (there appears to be broad expanses of land not being used for anything). I would be willing to (dare I say) use instanced zones for housing and farms just so I could get full game functionality.

I queried Trion about these issues and ideas, and never received a reply on my ticket. The only advice I’ve received recommended I search and wait for a land plot to default due to a lapse in taxes…Gee, thanks Trion. I guess spending 90% of your “game” time randomly searching the entire world for hours on end waiting for another player’s plot of land to default is what passes for a good time? Sound like tons-o-fun! I think I’ll give my money to Blizzard.

Is it possible for you to gear up without paying? Technically it is, but it would take such a prohibitively long time (think over a year..) grinding mundane tasks such as fishing, and farming (literally.. like on a farm), that you would want to burn your eyes out with a hot poker. Meanwhile you would be getting PWND in any pvp you attempted within a couple of seconds with anyone who has payed to gear up. Sound like fun? It's not.

Eventually they released more servers, but those filled up just as fast and I was only able to get a housing spot and large farm spot in a dangerous open PVP ganking area. But that's ok, I thought. Level 25 shadowplay and you get stealth, so you won't get ganked while carrying your extremely precious lumber pack to your land in order to build. With the servers so crowded, competition for suitable trees was harsh, and it took maybe 20 hours of gameplay to get a single lumber pack. What I didn't count on, was the awful stability issues. Sometimes the game crashed 3 times in an hour. So there I was, carrying my precious lumber pack to build my farm, in stealth. Of course, it crashes, and my character gets ganked and the lumber pack gets stolen while I'm trying desperately to log back in.

TRION has been extremely bad about banning bots and hackers so far. Bots have been running for days after being reported. There are teleport hacks that allow the users to instantly move trade packs to anywhere in the world. Between them, they are already destroying the in-game economy.

The game forums are drowning in cries and pleas for TRION to take action against the exploiters and gold sellers and there is only silence. Even the forum name of the TRION community rep is a sarcastic play on the word "scapegoat"...

Land ownership is advertised as being a perk of being a "patron" (e.g. subscriber), but hackers (there are hacks that allow one to grab demolished plots due to failure to pay upkeep before any legit player can place there) and the low penalty for owning extra property have given rise to "land barons" already. Between them and the messed up placement system and limited spacing to place houses it has made getting land nearly impossible without getting ripped off. If you are lucky, you might find a spot to place your "free" quest 8x8 grid scarecrow so you can grow a few crops safely but that's it.

For these reasons alone, I can't recommend the game to anyone at this point. Sure, there is some fun in the game and the graphics are very nice when you crank up the video settings but it's not enough to redeem the mess that it is in right now. TRION used to be a shining star in the MMO/gaming industry and had a good reputation. Something happened to them. The TRION that is running ArcheAge is not the TRION I used to know. They've lost their way and are sliding into disrepute. It's sad to see.

And then it all went down hill.
I'm incredibly annoyed with the end game content in this game. I understand that the game is based around trade routes, crafting and world pvp, but Archeage is lacking in pretty much every other department. (Besides graphics, because it's frikkin beautiful for an MMO).
I'm a PvPer myself, so as I was max level, I decided to hunt down the 'battleground NPCs'....
When I discovered that the only organised pvp available was 1v1 or 5v5, I was slightly disheartened. But no matter, I joined anyway and hoped for the best.
After about 30 1v1 matches I began to realise that I'd only seen about 5 different classes, and I was being destroyed by all of them without even casting a single spell myself.
This game is so incredibly unbalanced. If you aren't either a primeval, a dark runner, a spelldagger, a blighter or a paladin, you might as well go sit in a corner with your thumb up your ass and cry.
And to top it all off, even if you do win and somehow manage to amass a respectable amount of honor (currency for PvP items), the weapons that are attainable through PvP degrade after 44 days. Meaning you have to start all over again.
Everybody looks the same at level cap because the final questing hub is the only place to get a decent set of gear without spending weeks and weeks crafting garbage to get your skill level up to a standard where you can make something better.
There's a lot more for me to complain about and there shouldn't be. This game had so much potential, and I am incredibly disappointed.

For starters, the default party loot system makes you roll for items, but you can't automate the rolling or even assign it to a key. That means FOR EVERY ITEM you have to click a box that asks if you want to roll for it. What year is it again? This system is so annoying and hostile towards players, it begs the question if they even want people to play their game.

On the technical side, there are problems with the launcher and server queues. Problems that should take a few hours to solve, yet have been there for months.

Hackshield Pro is horrible anti-cheat software. It needs admin privileges every time you start the game and is very invasive, but doesn't stop cheaters and botters at all.

Beneath all that, there's a game that looks good, offers a lot of freedom to do different things and generally has potential, but it will never live up to that with these people developing it.

The level of ineptitude in handling the pre-launch, launch, and post-launch troubles is astounding. The simple fact that the game is up and running at all is a miracle.

Now they've launched and their pre-existing issues have only gotten worse. Queues above an hour, more bugs with Patron status, and to top it all off they've released new item packages which are better value but priced at the same tiers as the Founders packages. It was an incredible slap in the face to the people who have spent money on the game's offerings only days and weeks before. There has been no communication, mind you, about any of this or promises to fix things other than to acknowledge a few of the bugs.

The dungeons are poorly planned and NPCs have horrible and predictable mechanics. The raids on the next hand are too few and were barely covered in alpha/beta but more than likely the same as dungeons. As a game that focuses mainly on PVP and Trading it will get stale rather quickly for those that are only interested in doing either one at a casual or your own pace. Obviously a business has to profit, but if they lose their customers then where does that leave them? Nowhere is where.

The time between head start and launch simply wasn't enough time to come up with and execute a suitable solution to the problems that they faced. What they needed to do was have a longer open beta with a larger gap between it and launch to sort themselves out. I was unable to play during open beta and I'm sure I wasn't the only one, they needed a longer period to get a more accurate figure of a likely player base and more time to react to that figure. Poor management on their part entirely.

I strongly recommend people to try the game in a few weeks/months when this fiasco has been rectified, in the meantime I can only advise you stay away unless you are determined and patient.

There are basically two ways in which a F2P model can work; the first is to offer most of the basic game for free to all, and allow optional purchases on top which just flesh out the experience. Star Trek Online is probably the best example of this, or Lord of the Rings Online in the same genre. These aim for satisfaction amongst as much of the player base as possible, and earn their money from multiple small level, happy investments from them; buying a fancy horse here, a sideline of quests there. In such set ups the one off cost can be quite high but, because people feel sympathetic to the game, and the purchases are sporadic and at-will, players will pay for it.

The second focuses on huge purchases from the infamous "Whales", individuals who spend an enormous amount of money on a game. In such a system F2P players are not the customer but the product, used to generate a world for the Whales, and such games are more like Facebook whereby your personal experience is secondary to the major donor streams. In these MMOs, because the Whale model is expected, the cost for individual systems rises massively above the standard, indeed often even a Monthly Subscription won't unlock all the content and there's a DLC store on top of that. And the game itself in turn becomes about providing the sense of status and power to the Whales, often as a fantasy escape from a real world where they have little.

Archeage is absolutely in the second category of MMO. Which is the first piece of the puzzle as to why some people are so heavily invested in it, and so dismissive of criticism. It is a game focused around elitism of the worst kind; one that not only seeks to encourage people to think of themselves as Whales, but actively despises those who do not.

Despite the claims, the first part of the game itself is nothing like Ultima Online or any true sandbox. It's a pure on-rails MMO like World of Warcraft and Everquest. But even more disengaged because everything is being done to hurry you towards End Game and the real nature of the beast. Quest locations are marked on both the mini map, the world map, and arrows beneath your character pointing directly at them. You can honestly just skip all the quest text and run from waypoint to waypoint and yes, kill 10 wildebeests. As far as Level 18 now and I have yet to see a quest that wasn't "Click that box" or "kill those things" bar one, a very short "follow the NPC and click the icon when he stops".

Until you hit the quest that teaches farming trading, and gives you the Donkey. The "Trade Run: Solzreed to Memoria" quest. Before now you've been questing in a coma. The only raised eyebrow was that mobs don't carry "drops" at all, only "purses" which you have to right click and open to get at your gold. You've noticed it took some of your "labor" points to open these, but nothing else seemed to be using them so... ok? This quest asks you to make some special Solzreed food and take it elsewhere. The first problem? It doesn't tell you what the recipe of that food actually is. I had to google it.

I then followed the instructions, and set off to place the Scarecrow that gives you some protected space and allows you to plant the crops that allow you to complete the quest. Then I discovered it; You're locked completely out of placing it unless you are a Patron, that is a paying subscriber of some kind. Growing wild allows other players to steal your crops, but the quest hints that you can grow in a public farm protected for 1 day. Except what it doesn't say is that the farms only take some crops, are scattered across multiple zones and to plant, feed, harvest your crops all take Labor. So much labor that when I first played, I didn't have enough from THIRTEEN LEVELS OF GAMEPLAY. That's what I get for wanting to open my looted gold, I guess?

The people who were obsessed with Archeage insisted to me during Closed Beta that Trion were going to change this horrendous mechanic; they did not. This time around, because of a bug giving me Patron on the first day, and only trying it at L17, I had enough Labor that I could finish the planting. Only now I can't do anything else unless I stay in game unattended for hours on end, thus causing the queues many of these reviews are now complaining about.

But what about the end game?! And this is the second place some of those 10s are coming from; Like EvE and any other PvP game which feeds individual ego, the supporters are irrationally dedicated to the game. They don't really care how miserable the experience is for the average player as long as they get to melt your face in it; yet you WONT be PvPing unless you're dropping whale money. Crafting to survive L30+ where it's all in a PvP zone? Massive labor requirements. Want a house? You needed labor AND real cash spent just to build it, and had to be in the Head Start to place it. A boat? Same again.

Don't believe the hype. Unless you plan to Whale on newbies, Archeage will hate you.

What will not be forgotten is Trion's bludgeoning attempt to force all negative threads associated with the schmozzle they very loosely called launch into one convenient to manage (and hide) location and the absolute lack of any discourse by it with its unhappy fan base, particularly those who have paid for the privilege. Perhaps the cold as ice forum mod who quickly and efficiently jack-booted any form of dissent, even if that dissent was in the form of a mere question, into a single forum thread should have been replaced with someone from the company actually telling people what Trion was going to do about the problems? Information would have gone a long way here. It would have at least assured people that Trion was trying to help, actually gave a crap, and would have also demonstrated a level of respect for their paying clientelle.

The game itself is quite beautiful, and the mechanics of trade risk and reward and PvP actually encourage teamwork. So there is a lot to like about the game. It is this beauty and thoughtfulness alone that has led me to give the game any sort of score at all. But if you are thinking about playing it, think again. With multiple hour waiting periods, numerous bugs and glitches (for a period of time half my hotbar skills were unable to be used), and A LACK OF TRANSPARENCY AND SEEMING AVOIDANCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY BY THE HOSTING ENTITY, I would strongly, very very strongly, advise you to stay away. - Overloaded player housing areas, if your a new patron you can't even find a plot to drop a farm nevermind a house.

However there are a some positives. The quests are fun and the graphics and play style are sweet. When they add more servers this game I'm sure this will become a decent game. Until this happens expect a lot of justified player complaints.

That said - the primary reason to pay money for this game is to own land as land is required for safe farming and growing of resources for crafting. If you want more labor than the 2K F2P max, buy labor pots or apex off the auction house. Money isn't very hard to make with the trade system, just time consuming.

All in all, easily the worst game launch I've seen in the last 5 years. Great potential, but unlikely to renew when my founders pack expires. Bots, racism/hate speech, griefers everywhere. One of the worst (and least moderated) communities.

The ESRB rated AA Mature 17+ and is not a solo-friendly MMO especially if you are playing via free-to-play and were hoping to experience all aspects of the game. Even as a paying Patron you will have no choice but to either join a guild, a Family, work in groups like a pack of lions or all three. At about level ten to twelve, though, you start to feel the sharp teeth of this game. You may want to be aware of a few built-in game mechanics before you press that buy now button. First, players have an ability called Bloodlust allowing them to attack members of their own faction for any reason. Yes, you read that correctly. Pirates, another faction or occupation, are among us! These players can organize Pirate Guilds and generally have the goal of stealing your possessions to accumulate Infamy, a type of status. Second, only paying players can own land. On the Lucius server, all the land has been claimed, so even if you were a paying Patron, you have a limited number of possibilities. In an incompetent attempt to justify his thievery, Krowe on the Lucius server propounded that I should have planted my small garden of Turmeric herb for a quest on Protected land. You may plant on any of the land and need to do so in order to complete your first low-level farming quests. However, because all of the plots used to create Protected land are occupied, you have no choice but to try Public Protected land. These are small plots that are also completely covered with other players crops. At this point you could try to join a guild or become part of a game Family, an arrangement that allows you to plant crops on a family members land. However, everyone has their land filled to the brim with their stuff right now. You are down to one choice, plant on public land. The catch is, any player can uproot your plants, stealing them from you even though the game labels it a crime. Want-a-be Pirates like Krowe simply make you their enemy even when we are on the same side. I have noticed a disturbing growing trend among AA players. My plants were clearly marked as my property when Krowe stole them. But his justification was because I had planted them on Public land. So misinformed players assume the role of a self-appointed Public-land Sheriff removing what they call an illegal garden. However, there is no such thing as an illegal garden in AA. It's clearly just a plant on Public land. I have scratched my head numerous times as I read the Trial chat channel. If a person takes something that isn't his in real life, he knows he's stealing. How is it that he feels it's different and justified in a game like AA? Petty theft is still just greediness, the taking of something that doesn't belong to you, in a game or not. What happens after the theft is absolutely ludicrous in my opinion. After being reported, the game's legal system puts the thief on trial where you will witness the most bizarre display of human lunacy and degradation. Defendants like my nemesis Krowe defend themselves in the most bizarre extremes from childishly offering a "cookie" to their victim to sounding like a sinner in confession on Sunday. Then the player jury sentences the defendant to varying amounts of time in jail. Although it may seem like a deterrent, the sentences lack any real meaning or weight. A player may murder, steal and uproot affecting multiple players and only get 15 minutes in jail. And even if sentenced to jail time, the thief has the ability to break out. No, you never get your stuff back. There is also a darker side to AA. Before our eyes is a cleverly cloaked system that prevents free to play. How? If you as a free-to-play player plant on Public land, it gets uprooted and stolen by so called Pirates who receive lenient sentences. Thus you have no choice but to become a Patron so you can own Protected land. But don't forget, all the land is taken! So, you're back to square one…or you can wait till more land is made available by Trion. You could also wait until another player can't pay the taxes on their land. Either way, if you're a Patron, you're paying while you wait. Damn. Secondly, when players of the same faction can attack and steal from each other, it forces them to join a guild or Family simply for protection. Joining, though, reduces your personal wealth because the guild leader is the person who can exact taxes and ultimately benefits from you, the guild raids and Trade Runs. Not everyone can run a guild. In fact, the factions of the game are NOT the Nuian Alliance against the Haranya Alliance. It's really the Patrons against the Pirates. The Patrons craft or farm and the Pirates steal it from them, anywhere and at any time. In a game where it may take several hundred hours to seriously farm, the only players having fun are the Pirates. The victims certainly don't enjoy having hours of work stolen by a member of their own faction, Pirate or opportunist. Playing AA comes at a price. The cost is either your time, your money or your possessions. You'll have to decide which one you can part with at different points throughout the game. But really, once all the rival castles have been destroyed and all the Pirates control all the wealth, then what? Expand

The Combat system is old and archaic, we're talking [TAB] attack system and the PVP is pretty generic as well, I was a long time guild wars 2 player and I feel... this might just be why I find the PVP so lack luster... its just close to Guild War 2's PVP.. however Guild wars 2's is a bit better. the class system is pretty neat but not at all new, its nice I can blend a lot of things together but this class system is also limited at the same time, you'll need to equip a corresponding weapon to really benefit from classes... For example, If I go Heavy magic, and I also take healing... my healing will be limited if I don't take a 2h club and instead take a 2h staff or something of the sort.

I really don't recommend this game, there are just much better options.

I haven been playing since CBE and continue to play even now (I really don't want to waste my patron time)

That finally did it in for me with archeage.....Freedich run, kill BOTH OT and within 30 seconds they respawn full health and back on me to take my trade pack with myself only able to heal up 10%.
What sort of developer makes this mechanic, where someone can try to gank you....LOSE then try again within 30 seconds and you not able to get away in the most valued trade run in the game.

This game is like that all the way through it, if you go west you can't go anywhere but one area to turn in your overseas pack if you want to defend yourself. That's right, if you go somewhere and the east hits you first your party members can't even hit them back only you can. Yet west coast they can hit you in about half the areas. This is especially bad with how the guards have no AOE so they can kill you and with only 10 people camping the area, still take your pack...

If you want PVP that is fair with a sandbox element this isn't your game. I'd go with warz before this and warz is crap. Just stay with EvE

Hackshield creates even more problems and makes logging in a giant frustration. If you plan on playing this game as a new comer, wait for another game to roll out. if you started now you wont be playing for long once you realize the need to own land and its importance in advancing in this game. Simply too many hackers to contend with, communication from GMs to the community is sadly enough minimal and completely unapologetic about "known issues". They just released the new phase of pvp content which included new lands where guilds can build castles and fight to retain ownership there of. HOWEVER... loggin issues created an unbalanced and unfair land grab for less than half the server. It has been 5 hours since this new patch and I have yet to get online, while reports from guildies state that the new land has been completely filled. This has been a problem since early launch and unfortunately makes a great idea for a game completely a terrible and frustrating experience... I tried lots of different fixes and nothing made any difference at all. I even had my ISP come out and there was no change after their "fix." I am at a loss and support has not helped. I think it is time to just go twiddle my thumbs and wait for EQN. This is a great game is their servers weren't made out of trash...if that is even the problem. ArcheAge allows players to do anything they'd like, for example: claiming land, being a merchant, and especially being a fighter.
*Side Note: No ArcheAge is not a p2w game (pay 2 win). it is a completely free game.

ArcheAge is perhaps one of the worst games you can find out there when it comes to PVP. The system is very unbalanced, due to the amount of stuns players get (AKA CC?) resulting in users unable to fight back, meaning a guarantee lost. Forcing friends to group together in order to survive, in other words forming guilds.

ArcheAge is a Sandbox genre game, meaning that you are free to do anything you'd like. Such as killing other people, stealing merchant goods, fighting in war, etc. With the amount of places you can travel, making it the perfect sandbox game.

ArcheAge contains thousands, if not millions of bots roaming around the server. Stealing land from other players (of course players who payed $15), making the Premium Service or Patron Status, not worth it. In fact the chances of even gaining a land spot is below 8%. Bots also advertise on the faction/nation chat every 3 minutes, meaning that players have to block them every 3 minutes which distracts players when playing the game.

ArcheAge contains possibly one of the worst economy, prices inflate and deflate each day. Weapons can go up to 15 gold, and later in the next day it can become at least 50, or maybe 4.

ArcheAge has many server issues, for example the Conquest of Auroria has crashed an estimate of 20000 players of each server. The Queue is also a problem, once very while players will be waiting in a 1-hour long line of players trying to log in.

ArcheAge contains a bad chat system, in these public chats players are always talking over each other, meaning that those who try to ask for help have to wait a long time. Leading them to the customer support center, which is also not satisfying either.

The customer support of ArcheAge should only be used as a last resource in my opinion. Workers of Trion often do little to no help at all for users.

I used the word stumbling, because it looks like they can't even pick themselves up once they have fallen, launch bugs were just the beginning with patron going out to F2P and P2P player which wasn't intended. They soon after rectified the issue by completely disabling patron, but it took 11 days until I received mine, but that's just the start of Trion's disaster. It doesn't get any better when we soon after Auroria release find out that Trion don't use private test servers to test patches before release and were all locked out for 14 hours of the latest expansion, those who disconnected 15 minutes after release were able to stay in granted they didn't disconnect. NA seen the worst of that as the issue was fixed by the time EU seen Auroria release, but many and I'd say over 80% missed out on participating in crucial castle grabbing, which has a great impact on Archeage, due to been unable to log-in for 10 hours while the server was left online which is by far the biggest disappointment in Trion and another 4 while servers went offline for a hot fix.

Moving onto the game play, Archeage isn't well known for its PvE content, it's lack of effort is abysmal, but it makes up for it in other areas like crafting which will keep you hooked for hours on end as it's a true grind, world boss as-well, being apart of the main guild in Enla and having Kraken on farm status was exciting it was solid!, until we came across another bug, a severe loot bug, which made the corpses of the defeated boss unable to loot and soon after disappear, it has happen on more occasions than not and resulted us in gaining nothing, a bug like this shouldn't exist at all as it's game breaking.

The PvP is entertaining granted you are well equipped as it's a mix of paper, scissors and rock mechanics, with are very much impacted by your gear as I have solo'd 4 people at once, it's fun personally, but come late game if you didn't grind the gear train then you can be assured you won't enjoy PvP. It's nice that they are focused highly on world PvP as it's usually missed on most modern day MMO's and in a game like this it beats doing one verse one arena as Archeage's main focus is built around world PvP, so you can say balance wasn't considered which once again in this game is fine; i'm not one for normalization.

What lets Archeage down though is it's rampant blatantly obvious rampant of bugs, hacks and exploits. There's a range from teleportation, no fall damage to gold generating hacks and APEX/ RNG chest exploits which have been around since launch and only become aware of by Trion with-in the last week, the economy is ruined beyond repair.

Fortunately this has been the only Trion published game I have played, but it will most definitely be the last. Having stated all the issues with Trion's/XL games Archeage you are made feeling like you're dealing with Infestation's SS Hammer point all over again and it makes you glad were put in the hands of known companies like EA/Ubisoft.

Leaving advice is it isn't worth your time or money.

    Graphics: 7/10
    Gameplay 4/10
    PvP: 9/10
    PvE 2/10
    Trion/XL games management 1/10

TL:DR Hacks, exploits, bugs, bad management all round from Trion and XL games, great PvP and abysmal PvE.

But it failed miserably. Instead of a refreshing new take on the MMO genre you get WoW 1.0 with a tiny dash of novelty that doesn't make up for how boring this game is.

From the beginning you are greeted by the same old way of doing things - Animated over-the-top intro, character creation with 4 races split up into 4 races and marginal appearance options (Don't let the amount of sliders fool you, you can basically just change the face of your character and pick from a dozen or so hairstyles) and then you're thrown into the world.

Instantly you will get the "same old" feeling as you start in a regular starting area full of copy/paste monsters, unvoiced standard NPC's and bad localisation. Conversation options? Not in this game. Active combat? Nu-uh! Quests apart from "Get this and come back" or "Kill 10 Y and come back"? Nope!

You stand in front of enemies unleashing your attacks, moving around just to strafe a bit. Your skillbar looks like a blast from the past and the general UI could as well be from the early 2000s.

On top of that, the game tries to present you with an open class system that is just a way to rename the classic triad into 120 different options. Yes, you can mix and match, but in the end you won't do anything more than in the early days of WoW, Guild Wars or any other MMO of that era.

Now comes the big thing we all looked forward to: The building system.
It's nothing. Star Wars galaxies did it better, and that's saying something.
There are some areas in the game where you can put premade houses. No individuality apart from interior objects. You can farm on your own land and move some basic town services there, but that's it. Everquest Landmark, Oort, Rust and a dozen others offer more individuality than this. If you want that typ of game, go download Neocron from 2002 (!!!).

On top of that, the game is F2P with a strong incentive to pay - Labor points. This system lets you use up "Labor points" for everything from looting a monster to harvesting resources. You regenerate those at a very slow pace in F2P (5 min for 5 labor) and a slightly more speedy pace in subscription mode (5 min for 10 labor). In payed mode, you regenerate while online.
    Let me rephrase that.
In F2P this game ENCOURAGES going AFK.
    Encourages! Going! AFK!
To do stuff like looting or harvesting!

Stay away from this game. If you want a good standard MMO experience, there are far better options out there.
You like the eastern style F2P? Lineage is superior.
You want to build stuff? Go check out Oort, Everquest next or any of the dozen other games like this.
You want a standard MMO? WoW basic is F2P now too.

Archeage is a free to play game that the primary allure of this game is player housing.

    Houses cost 400USD or equivalent.

Other features include large scale naval raids on PvE and castle seiges.

Which is not available right now.

Strip all of that and you have something very similar to WoW, both in terms of clunky, old UI and its outdated graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I'd like to mention that this game is one of those F2P games that are not really F2P. If you do not atleast buy patron some essential features of the game are denied. Labor which is used for all non combat activities as well as opening loot bags will only be gained while you are online and only at half the speed of subscribers. As a subscriber I can tell you that even the increased labor regeneration is very limiting. Further alot of the items like labor potions, inventory expensions and tax certificates are almost necessary for a decent gaming experience. If you want to enjoy all aspects of ArcheAge at a more then after work intensity you can expect to pay the retail price of an average game for microtransaction items each month or feel forced to really streamline your gameplay for max use of you available resources. Patron remains a must have.

Adressing the actual game not the financial concept:
As so many games in the past this game falls short of the expectations. The world is horribly small. At this moment it only takes about 17min to walk (slowes mode of transportation) your continent from one end to the other. This would already be bad under normal circumstances but for ArcheAge being a sandbox MMO it is multiple times worse. Why is that?

Alot of the game revolves around crafting and resource production. The game offers some public farms on which you can grow a limited number of things, but those will never be enough to occupy you or provide sufficient supply. At this point the limited space kicks in and hampers your experience. The world is so small that hundreds of people running around it lead to most wild plants being harvested by random chance encounters within seconds of them maturing (which takes hours to days depending on the plant). As a result WoW, Rift or Wildstar like resource gathering is only possible for ore and stone since it is an exception considering respawn times. For plants and lifestock you will have to resort to growing it yourself. Usually this would be big pro creating an Eve like economy. In ArcheAge space limitations stunt the game. Almost all building lots (space to place your farms) were taken within ours of the servers opening. If you were not among those to grab your piece of the pie you are screwed. Building lots sell for ALOT. The most expensive I witnessed was 150$ in microtransaction items for a single housing lot. This leaves you with the last option: unprotected farming. This basically means you try to find a corner of the world where no one comes around and place your crops there. Those can be stolen by other players though. I have been hunting those farmes myself and I have to say: Even the most remote mountain areas which take real effort to access are traveled by scavengers at multiple encounters per hour 'causing very frustrating situations even for the most dedicated wild farmers.

Overall if you want sandbox play Eve. I dont play it but I have taken a look and it offers way more. The world of ArcheAge is a bucket compared to the sea Eve is.

As a final note. Not enough servers. Queue times of 8 hours or more to finally log in are currently the rule.

I couldn't even log-in because over all the servers had a queue of at minimal 400 players and numbers were dropping ever so slowly. I had to get up early in the morning anyhow and then I was able to log-in to one of the least populated servers.

I was really turned off by the character generation. Of all the many choices you can make, you can't get away from making your character look like some fey Asian variant. I got nothing against Asian's but I just don't like being forced to play a MORPG where my character has to look like one. I'd like the flexibility to make my character look like any race known or otherwise.

Then in game it's not very impressive at all. Like I've seen it all before. Overly saturated colors, bland scenery, giant invasive nameplates, no shadowing, cheap look and feel, etc.
It looks like the same bland Asian MORPGs I played ten years ago, except now the download was 9GB instead of 1GB so they can add Speedtree grass and trees, and some shaders to the otherwise same dull environment.
Also all the NPCs look unimaginatively Asian where I feel like I'm playing in an Asian version of Disneyland, also right on the get go the game complete with so much Gold seller spam you barely read any chat at all.

I did miss a lot of group PVE features - like proper loot system (no greed option, just pass/need), no group finder for dungeons/quests. I also dislike the notion of "only world PVP". I kinda like instanced PVPs with some team objective(s) - capture the flag, domination and so on. Quests feel repetitive even on lower levels, only story quests were a bit better (probably because of short cutscenes).

Queues were a big problem, but I assume it gets/got better. What is a problem (for me at least) is EU players being treated as second class citizens, for example restarts in prime time, US problems are always fixed first (in some cases days between fixing US and EU side) and prices of paid items.

It's pure PAY TO WIN, unless you buy a patron status, you are nothing. If you aren't planning on tossing money away, then avoid even trying this game, it's not worth it.

This is not an rpg game, it is a FPS, also you can't change the keyboard set up. Had potential but that's had not have. You are also forced to team up, since there is no single player room.

At the moment most players are spending their paid "patron" time waiting in queues, and the "head start" was a terrible flop, with a ton of problems. Probably in a couple of months queue problems will calm down and the REAL problems will arise. And they will be the usual endgame problems of most "Free to Play" (?) MMORPGs.

This game is not a sandbox, it's a "sandpark". Most people are just jaw-dropped by the features of being able to farm/own a house that this is "new" and "fresh" for them but in the end it's still technically the same outside some of those features.

Unfortunately for NA/EU ArcheAge the game is published/ran from TRION Worlds who has, to be blunt, done a horrible job managing this game.

From a terrible headstart to a very rough launch for many. Those who haven't been effected have had a great time, hence why you've seen some decent 10's around.

Once all the smoke and mirrors drops I don't see this game lasting long, probably even shorter with how TRION is managing it.

    Archeage

A sandbox RPG where you can pretty much do anything you want from building houses, boats, trading to making your own little empire with friends and guilds and going to war with the big name factions of the game.

Gameplay : 8/10. Fluid controls, hit to connection is very good, typical of a PvP focused game. You pretty much have everything at your disposal as long as you're a paying customer. Farming, decorating your house you name it. It's really all about you in this game.

Story: 6/10. I did not find the about the character very good. I played a Harani, each race has it's own story to tell maybe I was just unlucky. The overall Lore of the game though would be rated at an 8-9/10, very indepth.

Music: 7/10. Okay I know some people might like the music too this game, but I came from FFXIV:ARR and the music there was absolutely amazing. In terms of adrenaline rush in pvp the music does get you pumping. Just not as much as fighting Titan in FFXIV.

Graphics: 9/10. Fantastic graphics, running the game doesn't take much of a machine and compliments high end machines as well. DX9 and DX11 support, the lighting in DX11 is mesmerizing. Also when you see the Ocean for the first time in the game truly is a beauty to behold. The Water Graphics in the game Rival a fully modded Skyrim in my opinion which is great in itself.

Replayability: 1/10. It's an MMO where one character can be anything you want. I don't see a reason to ever have to start over from the beginning unless you're twinking or making a bank alt so I'll add another rating for this.

Longevity: 10/10. It's a Sandbox MMO where you can do everything you want with one character and go anywhere you want pretty much. It's an experience that I think anyone with the patience to grind out will enjoy.

Overall: 8/10. This game is simply amazing, it has tons of potential and a bright future if the Devs play the cards right.

Now that I got the game out of the way I'd like to rate the Producers of this game for the EU and NA region: Trion.

Some of you might know Trion from Rift, I personally was playing WoW at the time and seeing the "You're not in Azeroth anymore" banners posted all over the web made me laugh sometimes. Rift had a relatively successful life, not nearly as long as it's acclaimed Rival World of Warcraft, but it was relatively successful for an MMO this day and age.

Now Rift aside I'll get to how poorly Trion has done with the Archeage Launch for the NA/EU region. Having no experience the the KR/RU versions of this game I don't have any clue if their launches were a mess or not because they have different Producers.

Let's get to the point, the Launch of this game was an utter mess. Launched with 8 servers for each region there was a back queue for about 4-5 hours. They released 1 additional server during launch and 1 server during the head start which was 4 days of queue timer for people that spent $50-$150 for the founders pack on the game.

I'm going to go ahead and tell the story from my experience. This company neglected all of their paying customers from the start of Head Start, went and blind sided the people that invested in them "founders" with more extravagant offers via the Starter packs and continues to try to sale on the Cash Shop when their subscriptions don't even give the people who paid for the benefits of being a subscriber.

Unfortunately, I fall under the category of someone who had paid for their service and haven't received it yet. It has been 24 hours from the review that I have received what I paid for and the company remains silent on the issue.

Their customer support is abysmal . 6-7 hour wait times in live chats. Tickets going unanswered for days at a time and hardly any clarification on what they're going to do about the issues with the current state of the game. When I did finally get to the Representative (they were very kind I'll give them that) they didn't know how to fix the issue and had to push my problem onto someone else.

Here's the rating I'd give Trion from an Archeage players perspective at this point.

Launch Management: 0/10, I was able to get in during easily on the new server, but they didn't let any of the newer F2P players download the game UNTIL an hour before the servers even went live. So if you didn't have fast internet you were destined to sit in queue for hours on end.

Customer support: 5/10, The only saving grace here was simply because the people are nice when they talk to you, which should be a common business practice in itself. They however had not nearly enough people on staff to help out with the volume of problems they were having. I didn't get out of my live chat until 10pm (PST) after initiating the queue 6-7 hours prior.

TL;DR. Archeage is a great game managed by terrible producers. Either the Producers get their act together or this wonderful game will fall in fire.

What makes this make interesting and worth the try is the features, of course if you were thinking of owning a house.. or a farm chances are you can't why? Well the game is very limited when it comes to land that's why the only people who can own property in the game are paying customers (patron status 15 bucks a month) that being said you can already assume that all the land in the game is gone, I was not kidding when I said the land was limited... about 30% of the patrons that got into the head start managed to get some land. So even if you become a patron..(15 bucks a month) there really won't be any benefit from it.

There will be farming available for free members in public farms but these farms are over populated even by patrons.. and they only protect your stuff for 24 hours, so planting anything that requires more than that (and everything pretty much does) well most likely be stolen.

The MMORPG genre is a huge community of people (look at WoW), when releasing a game that looks as epic as ArcheAge... you should expect to be required to host a game for Millions of people, not half a million (best guess).
-- 24 hours since installing Archeage: (2 hours trying to authenticate account) (1 hour of game play) (6 hours of maintance downtime) (7 hours total of ridiculous queue time with a fluctuating queue number)

The biggest defense they have with not adding more servers that I see other players give out is "But in two weeks, you'd have a ton of vacant servers". In this day and age, merges are easy, and so is spinning up a server if you're virtual (and if you're not, you're behind the curve). For a seasoned company like trion to have issues like this along with the obvious P2W aspect of housing only seems to point that they don't care about this game, nor are they going to be responsive.

3/10 because the execution of it is so poor.

-Found two nice features only: Mount as pet and glider. Good ideas but that doesn't mean you should feel that the game itself is full of good ideas.
    CONS:
-The game (lore) is very blant. The story and race lore and the world is nothing new, not appealing at all.
-Questing is terribly primitive. You played such go to x-y-z and pick up 5-10-15 items in early 2000. Linear, unimpressive.
-Lacking movement and controll fluidity. This is hard to explain but after some time of play the animation and movement speed and the combat phases aren't drawing you into the game at all. You still feel that you sit outside of the game, pushing buttons one after another.

I can't comprehend how companies can release such game in 2014. And I can't even comprehend why people hype over such a really simple game. Very weak attempt. Go, check it out but don't spend money on it! You'll see what I mean!

This game had huge potential, played in alpha and beta. However, it's becoming a complete failure in terms of the way it's been launched. Queue times are horrid. If you've paid or are F2P it won't matter. A majority of players are stuck in very lengthy que's. I've seen patrons, those that paid, stuck in 2hours or more on their ques. I myself, learning from prior disasters, chose F2P. I've had the last three days in consecutive 6+hour ques, and wasn't even able to play more than 2 hours total. Yesterday was a 3 hour que, a disconnect from their end, and put back into a que with 4500 people ahead of me.

You will hear fanboy after fanboy speak of how great the game is, one of their major sticks was to allow player held land, but it's a majorly busted feature. The little bit of game time I have had, you cannot find available land anywhere. Now, they speak that not all people will be able to own land, this isn't a big feature to me, but I did look. I've even heard stories and seen some videos of massive amounts of land being owned by one person. They would have been better served by fixing que's and doing a land blitz a month down the road to make things just a bit more level on the playing field.

They do have some saving features in distinct class combinations, the ability to make and use boats, and also utilize any sort of weapon and armor combinations you would like. The lack of concern and correspondence by this company in terms of how they are failing with the ability to open servers to the public is ludicrous at best.

If they are truly vested in bringing forth a better gaming experience then they should truly listen to their community at large, and not hide from the public eye, nor turn a blind eye to their problems.

This game explodes the MMO grind like nothing else into some fun stuff, but it's a completely player based economy. At face value this is good, but what it means is the servers have to have decent numbers of people on them for the game to be viable, and so Trion deliberately don't have enough servers so as not to go through the surge and crash in player numbers - this means even if you paid over £100 for your founder's pack it's a 3 hour wait minimum just to get on.
Additoinally all the servers are full - you need a strong guild to get anywhere in the game, and so if your friends are already established on another server - you won't get to play with them.

Paying players can purchase land and build their own home there - which becomes a focus of one of the styles of play.
Great! All the land went in the first week! This means if you're thinking of starting out now - you'll need to wait until thep layer populatoin crashes off for a bit to register on the server, once the game is dying.

This Game has promise, but it is at heart a Korean grind fest with no shortcuts, and the ability to fully explore the game is precluded by having to log on to the servers (that don't let you alt-TAB out to do other things while you wait) and que fo 8 hours. As an online MMO Que simulator I would score this a 10. It's possible that somewhere in there, once the atrix has you there might be a game to play which could have a good score too. However, when developers have already given salient and unignorable lessons in how to set up ap layer economy usigng just one server, such as in EVE, to build a game arount this principle as a core tennet and then spread it out over a bunch of servers like WoW or that god-awful star wars MMO the old republic (apart from hutball... huttball was great..) is just a big mistake in my opinion.
I intend not to play this any more.

I bought the head-start packs and subscribed because I believed I could own land and farm. I was hoping the PvP nature wouldn't be about bulling other players. I was hoping for a friendly community. Even on the unofficial RP server the community is toxic. Between the community and lack of land, I am just not seeing the point. I had dreams of building home, farms and crest creation. I guess I'll be waiting for Landmark to go to open beta. If you are thinking of buying patron to own land and a farm, don't bother. Those benefits do not exist. I give this two points because the world is pretty, especially the water. Some of the music is okay and there's some fairly nice game mechanics like playing on a jury or composing your own music, but expect to hear nothing but 80s theme tunes. None of these make up for the significantly mediocre combat, utter lack of voice overs for quests and utterly an utterly forgettable story.

Oh and if you pay a subscription, good luck cancelling, because there's a neat bug that hides the button for some players in the account management screen, preventing you cancelling an automatically re-subbing game. Beside's that since i'm a paying player i would expect something, the only benefits i have atm is my +10 labor when im online and +5 when im offline, the rest is not worth it since there are to many bots and hackers taking land with clicking programs and what not, so more then 50% of the paying players DONT OWN A PIECE OF LAND!!! I have been in contact with support about this, he/she asked me what was the problem so i explained to him/her about the bots and the hackers and such. He/she asked me for name's so they could sort out if it was true... Then he/she asked me some more stuff so i told the rest to him/her. After that he/she asked me to wait so they could write it down, i told them sure no problem. The reaction i got on that was: "Hey i can feel your frustration true my monitor please stop this pushing behaviour of yours, because this isn't making my job any more easy!! So calm down!!" So i told him/her: I'm sorry if i sounded like that, i didn't mean it that way, i only wanna help you out with this bot/hack problem. Then he/she told me: Youre not the only one trying to help like this, so please stop your frustration on me!! So i stopped talking.. After 15 min he/she still didn't say anything, so i asked if he/she was still there. He/she said: I think i have all the info, is there anything else i can do for you? So i asked what was gonna happen with the reported bots/hackers. He/she said: Time will tell my friend. And disconnected.

I was stuned... First my patron buff is broken like hell (and still is) and then i get somebody like this on support... Really trion... This is bad..

After today 4 of my friends decided to quit ArcheAge because of the lack on support trion is giving towards the players.. And the bot/hack problems with land and gold sellers...

I'm also thinking about quiting to be honest... Because this is not worth 13 euro's a month.. Not even 1 euro...

Really trion get your facts straight and get your ass on all the problems that are going on, you are losing players day by day!!

But; in the zone I started in, there are huge numbers of high lvl players fighting right next to three of the npcs needed for the starting quests. In a starting city area, mind you. The one time I was able to overcome the lag enough to target anything in the mob it said I had targeted a 'lvl40 practice dummy'.

What this meant was after the 4 minute process of logging into the game I had to wait another 3 to 10 minutes for actual npc characters to load. Some of them became targetable before they appeared, but others didn't.

Any quest involving a cutscene in the towns just kicks you out of the game due to the serious amount of lag. Once you get past the 4 minute login again, there is a better chance you will get to see the cutscene again.

Of course, all this is moot anyway, since the game has been down for server maintenance for the last 16 hours.

All in all, it's not something I see spending money on.

What ultimately pushed me away from the game is the PvP. It is 100% gear based. Since the PvP affects many of the trade and other aspects, its really something that you can't get away from. You forced to spend all of your gold buying gear or risk being killed.

The game is fun at first something, but it quickly goes down hill. It is not a game worth playing in the long run.

catch us at times, which I hate so great at this game. looks great, has ne hammer animation, hammer wasserefect, not story so extremely great but runs smoothly. and now let's look at the shop at, armours, remuneration, all the trimmings, as it shows the trione in the direction ea's, which draws people, many thanks for my 15 hours should be enough how horrible her abzockt the people

Toxic community of players. Game encourages bad behavior to other players. I regret paying to play and would like my money back. I would not recommend this game. I've played WoW, Guild Wars 1/2, and many minor MMOs. This one has really bad people in it. Great game, not great community.

Really company that published Rift has really failed miserably at the launch of ArcheAge. Horrible waiting simulator at logging screen. To be able to own any territory you need to be patron. Pre ordering gave patron status those that spended loads of money though i have heard that loads of players did not get what package promised to them. Lesson learned from here never participate payed beta testing and never pre order games because companies are really dodgy about keeping promises. Trion is just **** company.

Trion worlds started out with Rift and the best intentions for value for their customers. This game demonstrates that they have gone to the complete opposite end of the spectrum where value for their customers is their lowest priority. They know that the people who play this type of game don't respect themselves enough to walk away from being shamelessly fleeced.

This game is a waste of time, its horribly optimized, pay to win, and the PVP elements in conjunction with the labor system means you can't get anything done, and if you should happen to carry a trade pack it will be stolen from you before you can turn it in. Worst game I've played this year.

Game is fun and does have a lot of sandbox elements.

Unfortunately all the cheating ruins it. Land hacks, pvp hacks, teleport hacks, you name it. Far more than I have experienced in any other mmo.

I would steer clear until if/when the game is cleaned up.

Typical Pay-To-Win game that doesn't bring anything new to table. Monotonic experience continues throughout the game. Only redeeming quality is that the game is free to play; not worth a penny.

9/16/2014 was a sad sad day in my life as I decided to pay for patron status. I was left 4k+ position in queue and still waiting (It's been over 3 hours). This is unjust and I've requested a full refund. I'm never going to play this game solely based on the fact that Trion **** up.

Pay2Win PVP ganking and zergfest with systems designed around farming free players. Terrible implementation of Free2Play systems, has subscription which gives major advantages in game and a pay2win cash shop on top of that.

Another boring p2w mmorpg. I have played it for two days, I made 25lvl and I quited because I was so bored with this game. If you are f2p player you are restricted in almost everything. You wont have "labor" to even open coin purses, so you can only dream of crafting/gathering.
    Avoid at all cost.

Alright this game isnt terrible because of the pay 2 win crap... those idiots complaining about that are just cheap and if you cant pay 15 dollars a month like wow or any other rpg then you shouldnt play this game period. Now! that said this game is the best rpg ive ever played hands down in terms of character versatility build wise, questing, professions, and the idea of farming. Now when i say idea of farming im meaning they had a fantastic idea for this but their biggest down fall in this game is there is no where to put a house and farm plots!! One of the coolest factors in this game is their biggest down fall so making money and some of the professions goes to crap due to this inablility to farm. Everything is taken! I finally found a place to put a house but was in a pvp area and its literally 20 feet from where you can craft the stone, iron, or wood packs which i thought would be nice... wrong. People literally sit there and wait for you to craft then go to build on your house and then kill you and take your materials. The ones you have been farming hours for... If you dont have a group of body guards with you then you cant build crap in this game and in otherwords make money. So people dont waste your time. This little factor in the end makes the game terrible to play and its sad beacause it has such amazing potencial. If they could fix this then id come back to it but till then they get a 1 as a score. Trion completely botched launch of this game. With any new release issues are to be expected, but lets face it, this isn't the early days of MMOs, and Trion isn't new to the genre. Unacceptable queue times, random disconnects, subscriptions not working, the list goes on and on.

The list of problems is HUGE with this game and sad because the gameplay is good IF and I mean IF you can tolerate all of the above current problems.

Its basically a badly orchestrated Money-Grab and currently. RIGHTLY, deserves its name as "Trash Age!"

Do you like completely random crafting? If you don't get lucky, you will have half the damage of someone that did get lucky or paid enough to win. The concept is cool, but the P2W and item numbers are a huge problem. Save yourself the time and frustration by avoiding this one.

What ArcheAge presents, past the horror of the chilling launch, is an open world full of opportunities and challenges as we have not seen for a too-long time demonstrating that the real MMORPG, those based on persistence and interaction, have not disappeared.

Don’t let your judgment be clouded by other people’s opinions influenced by terrible server problems they encountered when ArcheAge was launched. It’s a really good, beautiful game. [Dec 2014, p.76]

ArcheAge is one of the best free-to-play games to be released this year, with a near endless amount of content awaiting eager adventurers.
