This game is crap in the context of gothic sequel. Story is bad in my opinion. If I will treat that as a non gothic game I think generally game is ok

In my opinion Arcania is very good RPG game. This is not Gothic but is very good game. Music is awesome and very good. places are also very good. Main story is in my opinion on medium level.

What a dissapointment. They didn't care for the lore of Gothic.

Examples: -They just added another god. How is this possible, particular after the influence of the gods was erased at the end of Gothic 3? - They added the familiar characters, even if they are supposed to be somewhere differnt according to the endings of Gothic 3. -How can the spirit of the sleeper posess Rhobar
What a dissapointment. They didn't care for the lore of Gothic.

    Examples:

-They just added another god. How is this possible, particular after the influence of the gods was erased at the end of Gothic 3?

    - They added the familiar characters, even if they are supposed to be somewhere differnt according to the endings of Gothic 3.

-How can the spirit of the sleeper posess Rhobar III., after he was banished in part 1 and no longer Beliars Avatar? After the sleeper was gone, the undead dragon became the new avatar and Xardas succeeded him.

-The existence of further fire- and watermages doesn't make sense on Argaan, especially after the vanishing of the gods. Remember, the rune-magic got destroyed before Gothic 3 and they somehow are usable on Argaan?

    - The Southern Islands are established in Gothic 2 as a tropical and exotic place where the colored people are from. Still, there is no indication of that in Arcania (but we can visit them in the Risen-Series). On Argaan and Feshyr everything looks like north-european forests, nothing exotical.

The one positive thing I can say about the game is that the soundtrack is amazingly good.

I consider Gothic I and II + Night of the Raven among the best games I have ever played. Thats why I cant give Arcania better rating, even though its not that disaster of a game but it just doesnt do Gothic justice.

Відверте знущання над франшизою, за яке шкода віддавати навіть кілька гривень

A terrible ending to a terrible series. Even if they change the name of the game afterwards, it makes no difference. Gothic series is just mediocre games in general, so this game is exactly the same.

This game is not a Gothic, it is just as simple as straight line and very boring as well.

If you want a worthy successor to the Gothic series, this is not what you're looking for but
if you want a rather simple hack & slash then grab it, It is fun - 7/10

If you seek a simple game with breathtaking scenery and a ridiculous number of weapons and armor, then Arcania Gothic IV is for you.

Besides the handy automap and the journal, the only other positive thing about Arcania is that it's at least better than Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods.

Arcania is more of a restart of the series then a regular sequel – some dedicated fans will be disappointed by its overall simplification but it does not make Gothic 4 a bad adventurous experience. [Issue#197]
