    Another World was one of the titles that escaped me back on the original release, so I played the Anniversary Edition without nostalgia glasses on and what an unpleasant experience that was. I was going to it with all the praise of one of the best classic games of all time and bla bla, but honestly this game just pissed me off. I was going to it with all the praise of one of the best classic games of all time and bla bla, but honestly this game just pissed me off. First of all, this game is hard as balls, that would be a positive aspect, I absolutely love hard games, recently Dark Souls or Spelunky are one of my all time favourites and I love the hard difficulty IF the game can justify it with the tight controls and you can master it with your skills, but this was just frustrating game design with clunky controls and repetitive game mechanics. I was also looking forward to good story or captivating atmosphere, but this doesn't have any of it, there is almost no music in the game, so no atmosphere and as you are frustrated non-stop and forced to redo everything a hundred times, this game was unfortunately just the negative experience for me and I cannot support the praise it gets. 3/10… Expand

    Short but very cool difficult game with great story. And its an important piece of gaming history.

    This game is really a gem. Very short but difficult, there is almost no background story. However, the chemistry between the hero Lester and his alien friend nicknamed Buddy is very clear. Gameplaywise, its simple but challenging and the ending is really satisfying. You don't have to love the game but I think every gamer should try it at least once.

    Another World resurrected! One of the best games ever made! Éric Chahi should be known and praised by every gamer on this planet for this beautiful gem he offered to the world 20 years ago!

    This game was made in the early 90's so you have to understand how incredible a job Eric Chahi did in creating the atmosphere given the tools he had. The art style and direction he employed combined with the quality of his artwork truly exploded beyond the story telling limits of a 16-bit system to deliver an experience that EVERYONE who plays video games to appreciate them as an art formThis game was made in the early 90's so you have to understand how incredible a job Eric Chahi did in creating the atmosphere given the tools he had.     Another World Also known as Out Of This World is a really good game. Another World is a cinematic platformer where you take control of (Found On wikipedia) Dr. Lester as an experiment goes wrong and finds himself in a dangerous alien world where he is forced to fight for his survival. There he is captured and put in a cell with a man who has no name but the developer (or for me wikipedia)Another World Also known as Out Of This World is a really good game. Another World is a cinematic platformer where you take control of (Found On wikipedia) Dr. Lester as an experiment goes wrong and finds himself in a dangerous alien world where he is forced to fight for his survival. There he is captured and put in a cell with a man who has no name but the developer (or for me wikipedia) said his name is Buddy. There are some things that i dident like! The game was about 20 minutes and wasn't worth the $10 price tag i got on steam. Another World Gets a 7/10… Expand

    One of the milestones of 90's gaming and one of the games marked my childhood forever. I remember playing the SEGA Genesis version of this game back in 1995 (years after its release). Me and my friend Pato couldn't believe such great interactivity and animations in a game.

    Pros: - Even today it looks great if you take in mind is a 1991 game and it's very hard and sometimes fetched.     Pros:
    - Even today it looks great if you take in mind is a 1991 game and it's very hard and sometimes fetched. But all the little pieces of interactivity on are there for some reason.
    - I think this anniversary edition feels great. You can change with the press of one button the visuals from the original version to the remastered backgrounds and polygonal characters.
    - Also you can choose a from a remastered audio or the original with or without music (the creator, Eric Chahi, said he prefers his game without music).
    - Modern controllers works nice (I recommend DualShock 3 or 4 digital directions for a better experience).
    - It has bonus content (Artwork, Making of and PDF's with scanned development notes).
    - Hard difficulty is harder than the original.

    Cons:
    - It has some new checkpoints for newbies and sometimes they mess with your game state. So you have to kill some enemies again (and I don't mean the ones re-spawn because you need to complete a mandatory task).
    - We WANT "Heart of Darkness" please!! :)

    I plenty recommend this game for nostalgic people and those who can handle old games like Prince of Persia for instance. I doesn't feel that old at all.    … Expand

    this game is an absolute masterpiece for the ages. period. no obnoxious spastic hyperactive button mashing, no life meter, no score, just pure artistic atmosphere and ingenuity ahead of its time. in a world of game design companies that sought to pile on the next mindless clone of a clone, one single game designer dared to be different, eric chahi.

    No me termina de enganchar este juego. No lo jugué en su día y ahora después de probarlo unos minutos en Megadrive no me ha llamado la atención. Movimientos tipo Prince of persia. Lo probaré en otra ocasión a ver si cambio de parecer

    Nostalgia back to my childhood, back when I was watching my older brother playing this game on AMIGA 600.
    MASTERPIECE game from early 1990's.

    Я поиграл в неё только в 2020 году и исходя из моего субъективного мнения, игра слишком сложная из-за страшно неудобного управления. И вообще я во многом согласен с рецензией человека с ником DeusXCom.

    The story is entirely up to the player, and subjectivity pays dividends for creative minds. One character in particular is intentionally    A master class in world building.

    The story is entirely up to the player, and subjectivity pays dividends for creative minds.
    One character in particular is intentionally devoid of details in order to be as terrifying, menacing and primal as your imagination want it to be.
    As with most works of modern art, Another World is often misunderstood and many players approach this work expecting, well, a conventional game and will understandably be disappointed and dismiss it as a badly designed game.
    Make no mistake, everything in this game is trying to kill you and some people are bound to rage quit but the the game has a rhythm to it, the solution to puzzles are very simple and if you put your mind to it, you can breeze through the whole thing in mere minutes.
    All Éric Chahi asks, is for you to empathize with the loneliness, fear and urgency of the protagonist in order to make sense of his predicament, get this done and you're in for the cinematic blast of your 16 bit life.    … Expand

    Its HD add-ons make it inviting, but it’s important to keep in mind that there’s no shame in tracking down a friendly FAQ to get through this one: it takes players to another world, and the game is certainly from another time.

    Another World is a short experience, and those five words are the only negative ones I can come up with. Despite getting (embarrassingly) stuck on some puzzles, and having to play the game’s last sequence a few times, I finished the game in about five hours. Yet I didn’t feel gipped, I didn’t feel let down, or like there should have been more to it. As I watched the game’s ending, I just felt a sense of satisfaction. This was five hours of my time that I enjoyed immensely, frustration-inducing moments and all.
