its so stupid. and fighting against windmills. and cause this new ticket allready takes 3 month im not able to get my money back in steam.... so i wasted 150€ for nothing. this was my birthday present once a year i buy a game. thanks ubisoft for this awefull experience. :(

Best installment in the Anno series. The game gets incredibly complex yet starts of very accessible adds layers of complexity over time. Almost all DLCs are worth their money and offer literally thousands of hours of quality content.

This game is a role-model for quality and quantitiy. It is the best Anno of all time and still playing it since the first minute it got released. Everything you want from a city builder is there!

An economy focused gamed that finally isn't boring. There are a lot of economy games that lack the challenge. A lot of those games, you just build your city or something, without worry for bankruptcy and with no competition. Anno solves those issues by giving you AI opponents and even sparkling in some war.

Hours and hours of entertaining game play contained within Anno 1800. Downside is the multiple DLC's. I do feel angered with its multiple DLC content which racks up the total price of this product. I would've given it a 9 if it wasn't for the greedy publishers. Game has a great balance across city building, war mongering, story missions, region expansion and trading between yourself and AI.

The worst Anno. There is only a single map campaign. Only 10-20 hours of content. It looks great but boring. Ship behavior is the most stupid thing I have ever seen. It's not worth the money. Don't buy until they release all 3 DLCs.

Next mission impossible to complete. No tasks/no possible to progress. Have 1000+ population, can't remove any ruins, can't upgrade houses, etc...

    Absolutely terrible expirience.

Googled for a problem just to find out, that there are people with same issues from 2019 year. Support quality almost zero for quite common issue. And at the same time company releases tons of payable DLC...

    How do you like that?!

    Sincerely dissapointed,

Roads can only be straight lines with 90 degree turns. Really limits the city layout and looks extremely fake. In the real world (Even in a dense city) some roads have curves... Further more every building of the same function looks identical to one another.. HUGE LETDOWN... as your city grows its just 100s of the exact same building without any variation what so ever... Games like City Skylines or Tropico have 5+ variants for many building types which really helps make cities look believable. Anno was really lazy on this front and makes the game feel really dated once you see past the pretty graphics. I would not recommend paying full price for this game. Expand

The game is very fast paced for a RTS and there is a ton of stuff going on with all expansions installed - I grant maybe having all the expansions enabled simultaneously makes things even more complex than they would be otherwise. I've played Single player a number of times but even playing co-op with a friend we could scarcely manage our one empire and then we were eventually greeted with a DEFEAT screen with no idea how we actually lost and no explanation from the game or method to find out why we lost. That is extremely unsatisfying as you can imagine. Expand

I approached Anno games in the past, but never was a big fan of it and did not spent much time in previous titles - I prefered series like Civilization, Europa Universalis, Panzer Corps. I decided to use free weekend with Anno 1808 to give it a try and first impression was great. Once you start playing it's hard to stop. Game is really cool and I was pretty sure I'll pay the price to be able to keep playing after trial ends. But after several more gameplay hours I'm no longer convinced and the reason is the lack of active pause, which is not an issue in the first hours of play, but as you progress your empire management is getting really complex ( that can be considered benefit till the moment your empire become unmanagable in real time). Managing couple islands in one map is not an issue, but having to manage number of islands on several different maps ( different worlds ) simultaneously, dealing with potential disasters, covering expeditions, missions, diplomacy, trade, battles all at once in multiple different worlds becomes frustrating, as you'll always need to sacrifice something at specified moment in time. Maybe I'm perfectionist and want to address everything that needs to be addressed right away rather than putting tasks in queue. In example - island development or some missions can usually wait till your ships sink the enemy, but the further you go into the game more and more tasks you'ld like to do must to wait.

I've really mixed feeling about this game. It's probably best in the series and very addictive, but lack of active pause considering game complexity makes it unmanagable

So I got the Anno 1800 Complete Edition Year 3 version of this game when it was on sale. It's a pretty good game, but what I hate is that it is not complete, you have to buy 3 more DLC packs to make it fully Complete, so basically not a complete edition.

Because it is not truly complete, I gave it 5 out of 10

Anno 1800 is the seventh installment in the long running city building real time strategy series. If you are a fan of the series, you know exactly what you are going to get with the next installment. And you would be right, and you would be glad that it is so. If you are a fan of the series, you know exactly what you are going to get with the next installment. And you would be right, and you would be glad that it is so. Anno 1800 offers some new elements to the well established series, but overall it is a good ol' Anno. Graphics is very pretty and the building animations are just fantastic, as usual. Music is also very good. Anno was never really difficult and mainly because of one reason: there never was any time pressure, you always had an infinite amount of time to perfect your city the way you wanted it. This time around, the developers tried to change that at least a little bit, with the addition of more aggressive rivals and pirates. It sort of works, even though each opponent has a very obvious weakness that can be easily exploited, so you really have to pick three of the most difficult opponents to give this feature the desired effect. Comparing with Anno 2205, the difficulty was also stepped up in terms of removing shared workforce and making you manage trade routes much more carefully and often. So in that way, Anno 1800 goes back to its roots, which is not a bad thing. Another thing I like is the new expedition system, which replaced the hugely unpopular naval combat minigame from Anno 2205. The expeditions are in a classic pen and paper RPG style, which is a really nice touch. There could be more of them, but what the hell. Now about the negatives. The story of Anno 1800 feels feels like it was really just an afterthought. Comparing to Anno 2205, it is underwhelming, it is really easy, does not push you to do anything challenging, or anything at all really. The various in-game menus, like the resources menu, items menu and most importantly the production/consumption menus are a bit chaotic. The same menus were much clearer and overall better in the previous installment. Some quests and events are still bugged. There are no microtransaction, but there are season passes in place, offering hugely overpriced DLCs as usual. As for the SJW elements, they are definitely present although it is nothing game breaking. In my opinion it is a problem of our civilization and not of this game. Equality of outcome seems to be the way we are going, which seems extremely dangerous and stupid, not to mention unachievable.

I also want to mention the DLCs here:

Sunken Treasures - first DLC adds a new European region with interesting history, one super big island (or rather a piece of the mainland) that will allow you to fully express your megalomania. A nice start: 80 %

Botanica - Second DLC adds a new building, the Botanical Garden, which works the same as the Zoo and the Museum. It also adds some new decorations for your city. This should have definitely been part of the original game and should not cost extra: 70 %

The Passage - Third DLC adds a new region in the arctic. Pretty cool atmosphere, although there is not much that ties the arctic to the European region. Could use more intertwining: 75 %

Seat of Power - Fourth DLC adds a palace with various departments that give bonuses to your city. This was just ripped out of the original game to be sold separately: 60 %

Bright Harvest - Fifth DLC adds a expansion of farms: silos and tractors. Interesting, but this cannot possible be the entire DLC: 50 %

Land of Lions - Sixth DLC adds a new African region, with its own story, which is longer than usual, and a new special tier of European populace. I never knew how well developed and progressive Africa was in the 1800s: 55 %

Overall the game is just what you would expect from a Anno game. Compared to Frostpunk, it is much easier, it rewards careful planning more than quick decision making, but it ultimately does not matter, because you cannot really lose. DLCs are decent but overpriced. Final Verdict: 78 %

Speaking of the AI they are a joke. they are pretty much there just to take your unoccupied islands or other you lame quests and that's all they will do. if you want to declare war against them you have to do it first and afterwards they don't even put up a good fight it's very easy to take their islands or just bully them around even the harder difficulty ones.

i had all the dlc up to season 2 i've heard docklands basically breaks the game making it even more easy!

Mods make it a little more interesting like spice it up and maug but eventually even those don't solve how boring this is! Also it sill freezes and it's not the mods causing it i've checked.

Apart from the damn thing freezing if you give it a dirty look the game itself is just so damn boring!

if your looking for a great anno game this is not it. Try anno 2070 with the ARRC mod you'll thank me later!

Anno 1800 is a visually stunning, incredibly compelling management-strategy game. One thing of particular note is just how great and addictive the gameplay loop is, hooking you in as you watch your cities develop and expand, made all the better as you unlock and build a wide variety of buildings. There are slight issues though, with an unintuitive UI and trade system, which due to the way resources are spread around the game can be irritating. Simply put, Anno 1800 is an incredibly addictive and engaging game, with a few flaws, but nothing that stops it from being a great entry in the series.

Once, RTS were a challenge that required quick thinking and foreplanning, never afraid to humiliate inept player. Today, they’re exact opposite, eager to please paying client. Anno 1800 is a perfect example of such strategy: good-looking, predictable and forgiving. [Issue#238, p.48]
