There’s a lot of potential in here, gasping for air – I’m hopeful for whatever they turn their hands to next. But Animal Gods is merely a demo, a testing-ground for Still Games to learn their trade.

It’s a tedious game that this title may have been served best as a cheaper iOS game for those boring bus rides to and from work.

The art is nice and the music even has a zen-like quality to it but they cannot redeem the frustration that this game provides.

Cute but ultimately forgettable, Animal Gods is a slow, short ride that some will enjoy, but it's not much more than a pleasing time-killer that's over before you know it.

Animal Gods is little more than a disappointing glimpse of what might have been. [Dec 2015, p.60]

Animal Gods has nice visuals and music but almost no gameplay. Bearing also in mind its short duration it fails to deliver a complete experience.

Animal Gods feels incomplete in many ways, an experience that showcases some intriguing gameplay and a unique world but fails to flesh out either of them.

It could have been quite the fantastic surprise with a larger budget and more experienced developers. The ingredients for a great 2D action open world game were all there after all. Unluckily, they were all badly implemented and mixed with a cryptic and boring story. It’s more a pointless exercise in style than a game, and even a short one. Truly a pity.

Easy on the eyes and the ears, this game is fun to see and listen to. It could have had more gameplay content though - the journey just ended too soon.
