Awesome game. New version has no cheating that i've seen. This game is a great combat simulation - no phony disney-world environments, no boring AI, and complete freedom of movement. You plan strategies against real people and work as a team with real people, some very skilled, some total idiots. The only game I've played that doesn't get boring.

Good game, however, a downside is that you can't play it on your own. you must connect to a server and play with others.

I really enjoy the realistic feel, but it does have some significant glitches that need to be ironed out. Maybe an uninstall program that works would be nice. Right now I've got a bunch of army registry files on my comp that I can't get rid of. Stupid.

Ever since I started playing AAO late last year, I've found it challenging, it's a game of tactics, and teamwork which I think is most important. And that is what makes it intriqueing, when you can get people all over the world to work together for a common cause, it's awesome especially if were cliqueing and winning. This doesn't happen often, but that's why you Ever since I started playing AAO late last year, I've found it challenging, it's a game of tactics, and teamwork which I think is most important. This game truly emaphasises the impoprtant qualities of teamwork. It is a good way to pass boring hours. It also probably serves its purpose as a recruitment tool. HOOAH!

Best shooter game i´ve ever seen. Never seen before a game there you have to take a very real training. Only after pass the test positivie you can start kill other players. But the important thing is the reality on weapons handling in combination of your breath! All i can say is HOOAH.

What the hell is this? I'd hesitate between "simulator" and "complete trash", but I guess that wouldn't be fair of me. This game is great, yeah. It's net-only, linear, has no vehicles ( aside from those in the decors ) and is very realistic. Infantry goes against infantry in worlds that are well defined and detailed. People of greater rank crush newbies like nothing. Campers get their thrill , others are just plain intelligent. In a world where games like Doom 3 and Counter-Strike and Battlefield dominate... Seeing a game like America's Army is a big coffee stain on a book report that was gold so far. The game does not allow you to go compete against other players unless you've had a passing grade on all your "tests". Okay, point made: If you don't pass, you're not good enough for the game. But isn't that a bit of an elitist kind of way to look down at players? I mean, not everyone is American and not everyone wants to join the American Army. So this game being patriotic and having no story-line whatsoever and pretending to be an MMO just deserves a 4 on 10. (from me) I've played tons and tons of FPS games that gave me enough trouble for my money. But a game like this just sounds like a slowed down Counter-Strike. As forementionned, however well you perform in your tests, you'll still get crushed at first on the net. If you really do well, it's because you've played games like America's Army in the past. But hell, even Rainbow Six was better and it was realistic as well. I've liked Rainbow Six because of the tactical feel of it. America's Army's tactical is that both teams stay in their holes and wait for the enemy to make a wrong move. To someone like me, it's an insult. I'm not out to play games that make me feel like I'm a real soldier. I'm out to have fun, not strain in front of my computer just to be able to get a clear shot on someone. Though, for some reason, because of the horrible way the bullets have been programmed, if someone hides behind whatever particule of a wall, you can empty a whole magazine and never hit them. Even if you aim carefully at their head ( which is popping off the wall ), you still WON'T hit them. I was trying, really, I was... But this game just got me frustrated and a good four hours of wait just to get it updated. My verdict: A game like this should be used as training for American soldiers in training, not for gamers on the net. If I see this game at CAL, I'll drop a tear. Expand

1 player game feels sorta clunky, playing on GameSpy can be temperamental, but it's FREE! If it's free, then why not, right?

This is an overall bad game. The graphics are bad, the geameplay is bad. It dosn't have all the fun that Counter-Strike or even tactical ops has. It is an overall bad game.

Uno de los videojuegos serios más polémicos de la historia ya que se ha convertido en el principal método de reclutamiento del ejército americano. Como juego también ha conseguido ser el videojuego de disparo más descargado de la historia.

  1. A stripped down bare-bones tactical multiplayer shooter. The simplicity of the title detracts considerably from gameplay, but it still cannot prevent the game from being fun.

I'd recommend this game at $50. At the cost of a quick snatch-and-grab from the nearest recruiting station, it's easy to call it a must-play. [Jan 2003, p.118]
  3. Two very big things going for it. The first is the Unreal Warfare engine - it provides nice graphics content for every level of system. The second is the price. It's Free. Go download it.
