    The graphics are not changed, the physics has not changed, the menu has not changed, visual damage trucks do not appear. This is a new game in 2016?
    2 trucks, essentially the same state and 2, you serious?
    Price in Russia at the level of the top games such as GTA 5, Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Battlefront.

    Definitely a good idea for a driving sim but, it has it's flaws. Maps aren't exact, trucks run well, limited city areas, limited roads for making your own routes, no matter the system, you still have micro stutters and fps loss but, of 'course, that's all blamed on you. Mods actually make the game look more realistic yet, if you have any installed, all blame for the issues you have inDefinitely a good idea for a driving sim but, it has it's flaws. Maps aren't exact, trucks run well, limited city areas, limited roads for making your own routes, no matter the system, you still have micro stutters and fps loss but, of 'course, that's all blamed on you. Mods actually make the game look more realistic yet, if you have any installed, all blame for the issues you have in game are their fault. The game is not perfect, by all means. Most of the accessories are copied from the ETS2 game of which, are all in favor by Europeans and have nothing to do with American Culture or, ideals. Too many kiddy items in them. Ex: PokieMan, Picachu, Starwars, Sponge Bob, etc...,etc.... Basic building types, nothing of real design, unlike, the ETS2 game. Graphics are so-so and if you use anything other than M & KB, you'll have issues unless, you're a geek and know how to modify what you need to make it work. What is it, 2-3 years now and only 5 states and the Canadians are already crying for Canadian loads. ATS still has 46 states to go in my book before, any Canadian deliveries should be added. Many of the truck add-ons are good, more-so for the modded trucks of which, some of them are excellently created. If you have 20 years left to live of which, I don't, you may see it finished. Buy it on sale or, as a package if offered. If you know how to mod, that's your best bet for add-ons.… Expand

    This game is designed for very specific people. If you are find simulation games fun and are comfortable with simply driving around and enjoying the view you will enjoy this game. However if repetitive game play and pure simulation isn't your thing you will quickly become bored and want to move on. The graphics aren't great but they are hardly terrible. With that out of the way, let's get on to the actual game.

    If you've played ETS2 you will feel right at home here. Why change a system that already works, right? If something isn't broke, don't try to fix it. That's why you see so many games go downhill. They change something that already works to try something new that inevitably ruins the whole experience that people have grown to love.

    It becomes very obvious this is on the same engine as ETS2, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not the best and most polished engine graphically, but that's okay. It still looks fine, and they've certainly improved anti aliasing support from ETS2. No, it's not where it should be, but it's an improvement. Graphically, the game look very close to what ETS2 looks like, however you can tell there is definitely an improvement with the lighting system. One major change (which is probably the biggest change in ETS2 besides it taking place on American soil instead of in Europe) is the way ticket violations work. In ETS2 there are speed cameras setup and if you are caught speeding passed one of these cameras they slap a ticket on you. This time around, you will actually see cop cars roaming the cities, and if you care caught speeding, they will blue light you and you will be fined. No, currently the cops do not give chase (giving you the possiblity to lead the cops on a high speed chase), but that's possibly something they may (or may not) add in the future. SCS has made it extremely clear they want their trucking sims to be based around the actual trucking experience, starting a trucking company from the ground up and growing, and less about the other stuff.

    With ATS being in the US it's inevitable ATS is going to draw a bigger crowd than its European predecessors, and many of those people likely have never played an SCS game, or probably never even heard of them before. A big complaint I hear about is the accuracy of the roads and cities. It should be known that SCS is a fairly small company and they don't have the programmers you have at some of the bigger studio. It should be known the roads are designed in a way that make it possible for the AI to navigate. They had a decision to make: have realistic roads with no AI, or come up with a compromise and create their own roadways so we can have functional AI vehicles on the road, and they went with the latter. The map feels different enough from ETS2 that you feel like you are traveling American roads, but veterans of ETS2 will definitely be able to spot the shortcuts that were taken right off the bat that had to be made to make the AI work.

    The map feels more alive this time.

    Tl;Dr? If you're looking for a 1:1 scale 100% representation of the US, this isn't your game/sim. If you know how SCS works and how they design your games, and you're looking forward to driving from California to Nevada with the understanding that the game is designed the way it is because of limitations of the engine and enjoyed ETS2, there's no reason why you won't enjoy ATS as well.

    Oh, and I'd look for community map packs to start adding new states within a couple months. If not, I'll be surprised.    … Expand

    Great game, but still a few irritants here and there such as at-grade crossings on interstate highways, the retarder bug, wonky GPS, but it's well worth a 77, given the low price of the game.

    I you compare ATS to the few years old DLC rich Euro Truck 2, you can say its small. But remember Euro Truck how did it start? Same small. I gave 10, because of the future which ATS is holding. And the game itself is great. :)

    I've been ETS2 fan from 2012 release, and for 2 years of developing I expected more than just 2 states and 2 trucks, shame on you SCS, by the way, the game is beautiful

    It's a game with a wealth of potential. Unfortunately this game has a rushed feeling. Its like that half of cheese burger your room-mate left in the back of the fridge. you know you wanna eat it, but a fresh warm cheese burger is so much better

    There are 50 States in USA, great truck history. In American Truck simulator we have just two states ( 4% of USA map ) and TWO trucks . Omg. when I started game first time I felt like I playing demo version. But dont worry , DLC map coming soon! just 10€ each.

    That aside, American Truck Simulator is a steaming pile of hot garbage. The map is just awful. "Downtown" San Diego is where Old Town should be, and looks nothing like any part of San Diego.     That aside, American Truck Simulator is a steaming pile of hot garbage. The map is just awful. "Downtown" San Diego is where Old Town should be, and looks nothing like any part of San Diego. At least no part of San Diego I ever saw, in the decade I lived in or around it. Real downtown is visible as cluster of buildings in the distance, to the South, but it's just background, you can't drive to it. The 5 is equally misrepresented. No San Onofre (the reactors that look like boobs), no Discovery Cube, no junction with the 210 or 605 (neither of which exist, either). Los Angeles is about three blocks wide, and so is San Francisco. The whole map is incredibly small, and scaled down, compared to even single countries in Euro Truck. (California and Great Britain are about the same size in RL, but this ATS's California is about half the size of GB in Euro Truck, with far, far fewer roads and towns.)

    Worst of all, the California 1, America's finest driving experience (I say this as someone who has spent the vast majority of his lifetime to exploring the highways and towns of the US.), isn't even continued north of San Francisco. ATS California is like the California you would design if your only experience with California was playing Grand Theft Auto games. The sad part is that if SCS spent even a quarter of the time on the map as they do on their dashboards, this game would be a thousand percent improved.

    And I can hear the counter to this already... but, Third, it's American TRUCK Simulator, not American California Simulator! Well, amigo, if that's the case, this game is even more of a failure than I am already calling it, because it only has two trucks, and they're virtually indistinguishable from one another. As a pure truck simulator, this is the equivalent of a promotional flash game you'd play in a browser on a manufacturers website.

    No, what made Euro Truck what it is, and put SCS on the map, was that someone made finally made a game about the joy of driving, as opposed to the thrill of racing. And it was wonderful. ATS, however, is not wonderful. It's a cheap ploy to milk cash from one of the most benevolent, supportive communities in all of gaming, and SCS should be ashamed of themselves for every wildly insulting inch of what they've done here.    … Expand

    Right. It's the exact same as ETS2, same EVERYTHING but new trucks. Being from europe, I have no interest in the exact same game with the only difference not being able to go to my country.

    Players will not have own trailers in ATS like Haulin,LH.
    Players cant sleep in the truck like in Haulin,Long Haul...
    The carrier will be same like ETS2 what carrier in ETS2 with 2 jobs you make 150 000Euro and you buy last model of truck with big engine transmission full extras and etc. for 2h or max 5h game.
    This is not a carrier. Carrier is to start with old truck used without your trailer to work hard for companies who pay very little money to learn to save money to buy used or new trailer.to save money again and to buy some new truck or used but in good condition....
    To make contracts with companies and to drive for them or they to give you better payment loads...
    You cant see your truck on own parking lot like Haulin and Long Haul.
    Or to see them in a Traffic.
    You can find loads for you drivers and you trucks or rental trailers somethings like in PTTM. Or Haulin.
    Now in ETS2 you are not THE BOSS you just buy one truck and the driver make what he wanna whatever he is the boss not you.
    You cant control you driver and how many to pay him,when to go in service station,what to load...
    What is real in one game where you need to up levels and add points to can drive ADR Loads long distance and etc....
    And you cant pay for ADR Certificy and to add on one trailer adr sign.
    This points will tell me can i drive economically or not....where have realism in that or simulation ...or for long distance and etc...
    Scales they dont show you how many is your weight and if you are overweight or not HOW ITS REAL just only if you pass or not...what scale is that.
    SCS can make players to lift up and down every axle who have airbags or on the trailer now they rework this function from ets2 and to put into ats and players to slide tandems.
    In one interior in one truck have maybe more from 20keys they cant make one key to move they cant make one sensor on dashboard to move and work like from real life.
    They cant make better simulation and the condition on one truck to depends from the driver to see him oil sensor,water sensor,brakes if this truck need oil to change filters and etc player to can waste one engine and when repair him to cant make him like brand new and other parts get him comply with the rules on the road !
    Because they one day will get driver license and will drive similar like in the game ! RECKLESS ! ! !
    Sorry guys but its not a simulator ! Simulator was PTTM,Hard Truck,Haulin but not that with every game or version they recede from the simulation and real life...    … Expand

    Awesome game just like ets2, very relaxing, great atmosphere and mood; when modders start doing their thing, will be better than ets2. Still good job SCS

    Simulator ? That is stretching it a bit. I was expecting much more and being $19 I should have known not to expect much. A more appropriate title might be "Pimpulation" since it seems this game is geared at accessorizing "Pimping" your ride. Some form of time compression is understandable but when you can make a 4 hour trip in 10 to 15 minutes that takes all of the simulation factor outSimulator ? That is stretching it a bit. I was expecting much more and being $19 I should have known not to expect much. A more appropriate title might be "Pimpulation" since it seems this game is geared at accessorizing "Pimping" your ride. Then there is the lack of accuracy for the areas. I live in CA. Have lived in Bakersfield, been to Fresno, Barstow, Oxnard, etc. This simulation falls well short of coming even close. The only real similarity are the names. I would have expected to drive through any given town and been able to tell where I was by how it looked or by the familiarity of the route taken to get there. Not the case. I would have much rather seen them concentrate on getting details of a select area than just throw some names on a map and get the landscape characteristics close.     Overall, the game is excellent. The time taken to acquire the rights to the multiple brands found within the game are astounding. The basic mechanics are sound and the graphics are excellent. The repetition of the missions can become stale after a while but the ability to hire and manage a stable of drivers adds a small amount of variety.     The heavily scaled-down maps are the worst thing in games, especially when it comes to real-world terrain.
    Station scales of cargo - I do not see indicators of my checks on weight!? This is only a model and nothing more. Police - model and simulation. There is no prosecution of    America, the release of the game, which is good. But a lot of American simulator - bad and not modified.

    Dont believe the trollfaces, its much better game then ETS2.

    It's like a big official mod for Euro Truck Simulator 2, but it's definitely worth buying it knowing they are expanding to more states and adding more trucks.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my first review on ATS. (American Truck Simulator), and I can say, it's a fun addictive game that you can really get into. Me with my Oculus Rift and my Logitech G920, Make's me feel like i'm in America, Considering that I'm in the UK. It feels nice, gentle calm, it has realism aswell with it's super long trailers

    Also the current prices for the game are 20 Euros, 20 USD, and 14.99 GBP. The reason they're so low, unlike when ETS2 Came out, Becauses there is only two states. Making the map small, and not worth it for 30 usd, I've also heard about MP Coming but the map is too small at the moment, Which I recommend they use small servers of 50, and you can make your own passwordable ones, Something like the Multiplayer for Valve games Like Garry's mod. Or Like Farming Sim 2015    … Expand

    One thing that SCS Software has learned me - they really take care of me as a customer, to ETS2 world they are making free patches and updates every other month, really amazing. I know ATS world isn't going to be any different - but from what I see so far the game has incredible feeling of American roads. Jumping back in for more.

Everything well done in ETS2 has been integrated in ATS, the things we all hated in ETS2 have been upgraded and know to convince: graphics are much better, viewing distance is much increased and the cities, roads and traffic seem so much more realistic and alive. However, there are things to improve (within DLC) such as more trucks (licence issues), more states (DLC), and maybe some random events happening on the road to trucker paradise...… Expand

    he tenido la oprtunidad de comprar el simulador y la verdad esta muy bueno excelente grafica con muchos detalles muy buenos la frecuencia de pixceles bastante bien pero como lo esperaba como ya he comentado en scs sof han sido muy tacaños en el mapa de los estados unidos y en los camiones en tiendo que pueda ver que no hallan tenido arreglos de licencia con las otras marca de camioneshe tenido la oprtunidad de comprar el simulador y la verdad esta muy bueno excelente grafica con muchos detalles muy buenos la frecuencia de pixceles bastante bien pero como lo esperaba como ya he comentado en scs sof han sido muy tacaños en el mapa de los estados unidos y en los camiones en tiendo que pueda ver que no hallan tenido arreglos de licencia con las otras marca de camiones como por ejem. Freightliner : Max Americano:Max Americano:White: western star y otras marcas pero como veo esta va a llevar muchos dlcs para comerciar y seria un simulador juego muy caro… Expand

    I love this game. The Atmosphere is Brilliant, Deserts and much more. Full variety of trailers to choose from. For now it's only 2 trucks and 2 states, but as I Remember 1st Euro truck simulator had only 14 cities at release day, then they added UK and 4 years later, they made Euro truck simulator 2 with 60 cities.
    For now we have to wait until States and Trucks being released.

    In the long run a promising game like ETS 2 was. But i wish we could open the doors and get out of the truck,, walk in the streets, etc. Either way, if you like ETS 2, you won't regret buying ATS.

    This game is far more a standalone DLC for ETS 2 than a new game. The basic system is very much the same, so it´s only the American setting and Trucks that is new. The landscape is very detailed and nice but only as big as the Scandinavian DLC and the Trucks more detailed than the Trucks of ETS 2. For that price it´s a very funny and nice game.

    I´ve played this game since the release date now. I`m not a fanatic player, but I have about 10 gaming hours completed. So I will give this game the review what it deserves. Because of that I cannot understand people who are calling ATS a DLC for the older game. The first few moments in ATS were so ... wow! I really like the new setting, the "life" around the cities. It feels really fresh to me, and definetely doesn`t remind me too much to ETS2. Sure, with a lot of mods maybe you could get ETS2 somewhere near the same. But where is the honor for the developer? ETS2 came out around 2012 (?!) and mods took it real further... but someday (in my opinion) I have no problem to pay some money to the developers again to thank for their great game. And it is not so much money we are talking about. So I can live with that less trucks at the beginning. Because I know there will be more coming. And as I said before, for me personally, the game feels fresh and new. I like the new locations and it feels much "fuller" than before. There is always something new to discover, and I`m not done yet with these two states... So I`m really positive looking forward to the things that will come within the next updates. The money for ATS was well spended. To all the doubters out there - give the game a try, it is one of the best simulators I know, and I would recommend it without any doubts to people that like the genre.

    É um euro truck pouco modificado até o ícone do mapa tem como legenda mapa da Europa o que podia ter mudado. A ambientação ta muito boa, as multas são caras, o mapa não e muito grande, os gráficos estão bem iguais aos do ets2 e também houve gente que não gostou pelo jogo não ser compatível com windows de 32 bits. Os npc's continuam muito burros: se eu bater pago multa se eles me baterem euÉ um euro truck pouco modificado até o ícone do mapa tem como legenda mapa da Europa o que podia ter mudado.     I would say, I'd love to support this game further long. But someone stated that all future states will cost money individually? Why? Why not have a State Pass so you can pay a one time fee for all the states? Paying for each one is pretty ridiculous. I can easily pay $20 for the State Pass and nothing more at this time.

    Full night/day cycles.
    Realistic weather (Rain/Storms)

    THE BAD

    No snow. Seriously?
    No exhaust smoke.
    Auto saves too frequently. No option to shut it off.
    Needs more pedestrians (all ages) in cities. It's too bare.
    Buses have no occupants. Even the school buses.
    Police ticket you automatically. No pull overs.
    AI is unrealistic. Vehicles crash into you, and you get the fine!
    Needs more states added, especially to the east and north.
    Few glitches here and there.
    Visual damage from accidents is never seen. That's just dumb.
    Penalized for late deliveries/ No bonus for early deliveries.
    No injuries in crashes. Even head on doing 80 mph! Really?

    That's about it. As you can see, (at least IMHO) the bad far outweighs the good. My biggest beef is the AI driving. It's really bad and could certainly use some improvement. They drive like maniacs! They are constantly speeding, swerving like drunks, running lights/stop signs, and causing tons of accidents. However, they don't get fines. Only your player(s) get fines. That's just silly, unfair and unrealistic. The way police ticket you is dumb as well. They don't pull you over. You just automatically get a ticket. And they can ticket you from the other side of a highway, going in the opposite direction. lol. Now, that's just stupid. Any ways, the game needs more realism.

    Examples...

    Trucks getting dirty, tire blowouts, driver injuries, snow/ice, actual police pull overs, manually hook and unhook trailers, fires, driver aging, need to eat at diners or restaurants, etc. Now those kind of things would really add more needed life into this game. As it stands, I give it an 5 which I think is more than fair.    … Expand

    I don't know how many hours I spent in truck games, first 18 WoS series and now ETS2 and ATS, but it goes in thousands. Very relaxing, occasionally beautiful, just sucks you in for hundreds of hours, although it may not be for everyone. Add to this full modding support, continuous support and regular updates and improved, those games are really cared for. You just know that the game will be improved updated regularly for years and years to come. ATS especially needs it as map is quite limited, but it goes in good direction with map rescaling and new states coming in future. Maps are of really high quality in ATS, atmosphere is great, they just need to expand the game.… Expand

Almost all the other casual simulators in Steam are such rubbish, especially those where you drive something, for example trains. Even the newest ones of them, it's quite sad really. But American Truck Simulator is like from a different world, worth every penny. Or let's say it aloud: in fact it is cheap. I'm a heavy equipment driver by profession ( not mainstream road trucks but even heavier stuff on rubber wheels... ), still when the weekend comes, I may fire up American Truck Sim and enjoy simulated driving and some superficial company management duties. Customising the trucks is also quyite satisfying sometimes, after you get rich...

    An example of quality: I have attached Logitech wheel, Fanatec H-gear stick, Fanatec top quality pedals and Xbox controller to my PC. And the keyboard of course. I can use these all when playing SCS truck simulators. It all works like a charm, never failing. Everything is fully customisable for my needs. I really appreciate this SCS.

    How is the gaming experience then? The most important thing when we're talking about casual simulators. It's relaxing, engaging, pleasant, and conveniently challenging. Perhaps different than you expected, most likely better. Beautiful sceneries are one element of this of course. Sometimes gorgeous sky and weather conditions. Look at videos in Youtube!

    SCS's newest truck sim is top quality.

    The game is punishing with duel trailers, some of the 2 and 3 point stuff is the mastery of this game, having a prior knowledge to gear shifting by sound and a few other aspects made it easier to pick up, as I know several truck drivers, but it take true skill to back things up, swinging wide and other things are child's play compared to threading a needle.
    The traffic can be unforgiving as well, which I like, as it really makes you see why you should pay attention on the roads, although there are a couple things that annoy me.
    Once you arrive at a tedious location, that requires a wide turn, some cars in front of you cant be signaled to go around you like in real life, they sit there dumbly, making it even more of an art form, cars also never randomly let you into traffic, as much as this emulates real life, it would be nice for 1 out of 4 cars to allow you in, that would more closely simulate real life. Example: when I wanted to free drive after getting a truck, leaving my garage felt weird because out of the long line of traffic, not one person even gave me a gap, realistic yes, but the game has a tendency to make cars stop as they see you coming, but then when you start to move again so do they, purposely hitting you, in sort of awkward ways, as there initial stop should indicate for you to move, instead the game makes the cars hit you, sadly to say, this is what truckers actually face in real life...I think that's why I like the game so much, it's as real as it gets, even the omg moments are realistic, because it highlight the severity of losing you attention for a split second.
    Fantastic game, best game I have played in while, wonderfully functional, bet it would be even better with a steering wheel and pedals...Keyboard is not so bad if you rearrange some buttons, and actually utilize the Jake Break, it sounds cool with headphones and serves a very real purpose, I think the game calls it an engine break...I set it to middle mouse wheel to adjust its power up or down, or, clicking the wheel to use it temporarily.    … Expand

    It is a really nice game which is very enjoyable. You could be ending up spending hours doing jobs going around US without noticing. I recommend to have a Wheel, it will increase the experience. However, if you don't like driving and/or truck it may not be nice for you.

    I like it more than ETS, but it's just a matter of preference. They're both fantastic games. The map of ETS looks rather samey - especially the older regions - while this one happens to be much more scenic in my opinion. The base game consists mainly of desert areas though. It's still a 10 for me - like every other game that you can play indefinitely.

    A euro truck from the USA. The only problem with this game was the ridiculous distances between one city and another

    Gameplay is just like ETS2. Fairly chill & fun at some times which I personally like. Especially with a wheel as it can go to a whole new level of realism & with convoys you can have some fun with other people and friends from doing cargo shipments to just messing around in general. The nature in the game looks beautiful & graphics wise it's nothing much like an average trucking game asGameplay is just like ETS2. Fairly chill & fun at some times which I personally like. What I don't really like is the small cities. I get that some people don't have computers to run really "large" cities but I think some big cities on the map such as L.A is undersized (e..g buildings make it seem like a random city in the mid continental U.S.). With the help of mods though it can be automatically changed but for a vanilla experience I just don't like it. But overall it's a solid game just like ETS2.… Expand

    I'm playing this game only since 2018, that's 2 years after its release. Most of my time was invested in ETS2 and I thought it was time to dive into this project as well. And boy ... it didn't disappoint at all!

    We’re 4 years later now and only a few months ago, I really dove into this game and started to work for the many Steam achievements. By doing so, I was able to explore a lot in    I'm playing this game only since 2018, that's 2 years after its release. Most of my time was invested in ETS2 and I thought it was time to dive into this project as well. And boy ... it didn't disappoint at all!

    We’re 4 years later now and only a few months ago, I really dove into this game and started to work for the many Steam achievements. By doing so, I was able to explore a lot in the game and I have an exploration percentage now of 96%-ish. I’m one of those guys that go searching for real-life counterparts after I found something interesting in the game and man … there are a lot of interesting things to be found! I learned a lot about The States, even though, I did it all from my game chair in Belgium, Europe.
    Each new DLC brought a lot of exciting stuff to the game. Especially the map DLCs. Those are just fantastic! I love the dedication of the development team that is shown in their work! A lot of research and love is put into this game!

    The game mechanics are very similar to those in ETS2. You could say that both games are the same but still with a lot of differences. The American environments are just too different from the European ones to speak of “same games”. Also, the trucks are totally different. The fact that SCS Software is able to let us feel those differences, is just incredible. You actually feel you’re driving a big ass truck and that you have the room to manoeuvre with that truck. Driving an American truck, through the American States, is just fantastic!

    It is a pretty fun game with great details on landmarks and national parks and cities and towns. The graphics aren’t the greatest and sometimes the game won’t let me use me scroll. But otherwise it is great.

    This is a game where you play the game to advance the game ahead so you can do more stuff in the game. This is a Cruel Cycle that should be destroyed

    After having played ATS for over a dozen hours I put it aside and returned to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Right now ATS is just a foundation for a game and it will take a couple of DLCs to fill it properly with content. [04/2016, p.60]
