    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's been more than ten years since the game's release. It's been really a while, but it seems as if just yesterday I put AVP 2 in my CD-ROM. Being disappointed with the first game but having hoped that sequel would be better I started playing I don't remember as who The storyline was again divided into 3 lines for different creatures. And believe me, each line could be a standalone game for number of reasons. Different approach of gameplay, different stages, different thinking made me enjoy every minute of the game. Developers allowed players to save at any moment, so a gamer could explore each level without fear of being suddenly killed. Level design was at its best. Playing as Alien you could climb the walls, practise jumps, feel yourself as a beast after all. Alien could be played starting with a facehugger. First level ended by finding a sleeping human who's face you are willing to jump on, second started with breaking human's chest and finding more "food" to get strength. Basically a gamer had opportunity to play in all forms of alien creatures. Some levels for alien storyline were just huge and it was easy to forget that you were not in an openworld game.
    Predator had more gadgets and weapons that allowed to have more various gameplay. Somehow the most memorable moment was the one where predator was captured and everything was taken from it. It was difficult not to feel naked without regular staff. Marine missions were more dramatic that in an original game. The arsenal was significantly expanded and it gave original well balanced guns that allowed you to enjoy the game even more. Playing as marine you start alone on a level that has no enemies. But until you know it, you will be scared of every sound (you do remember the pipe's steam, don't you?). Later on the game marine is put in a prison cell and having only a knife in the world of powerful beasts will make everyone scared to death. Final mission allows you to pick up weaponry in any amount and lets you to stand against a horde of enemies, the scene that stuck in my mind as one of the most challenging.
    Story was easy to get in and difficult to forget. Even now I have a sense of guilt because there was a woman character left behind at the end of the game.
    It seemes that singleplayer accomplishes to give opportunity to be in any situation possible that was shown in the movies or that you could imagine. Multiplayer is not a part of game that a gamer like me usually appreciates. But given it a try, it kept both me and my friends playing for hours. Multiplayer's gameplay required to team up with your species to provide successful game. Although some levels were not well balanced and playing as a marine was a nightmare it was difficult not to enjoy the game. Different types could be selected for each species. Predators had different armor, aliens were also various (even facehugger made everyone scared), marines could select spawn weapon set to make hell around. There were four of us usually playing, me as a predator, one alien and two marines on garage map that gave us tons of fun.
    In conclusion it must be said, that the game is not innovative anyhow, but it is still perfect.    … Expand

    An intriguing plot, haunting sound effects, brutal gameplay and explosive arsenal should be enough to draw you into one of the greatest game of the franchise, if you can forgive the aging graphics.

    2001 classic shooter with great campaign and storyline, diverse, great graphics and sound, insane atmosphere, must have for any fps fan. best of the series, back when big franchises didnt just sell out and put garbage on shelves

    Still have it with the original box sadly Sierra dropped the servers so i pretty much forgot about it. But having recently played the never ones of the series i realized how well this game was actually made. You can play as Arny, Predator and Alien. Everyone with their unique approach to the game. Thus the marine having the longest playtrough the others are also refreshing to play. Its anStill have it with the original box sadly Sierra dropped the servers so i pretty much forgot about it.     A masterpiece; there is no game like AVP2! The landscapes, characters, direction, everything...specially the arsenal against the most terrible enemies ever. After 10 years Tomiko's death still breaks my heart. Being an alien is like being inside Franz Kafka book! This game deserves a remaking. Who are the persons who produced it?

    I was just pleasantly surprised by EVERYTHING I saw. Good asymmetrical gameplay, though I didn't get a chance to see it online.

    Rating it super highly because it deserves to be seen by modern players as a GOOD licensed game (even if not directly tied-in to a movie). Gives just the experience of playing as any one of the movie monsters it features.

    This game is one of the old gems that never really caught a massive following, likely due to the fact that it was based off some movie franchises and a lot of people (including myself) tend to avoid ANY game that is based off movies, but it just so happens that I was quite the aliens/predator fan. This game was fantastic, I would probably still play it if there were people online! Server support was cut a few years back I believe and you have to do something funky during startup to play online, but you still can. Either way, the single player experience, tons of fun, the marine campaign just inspires a sense of dread, you're always wondering when something will appear, and you frequently have to run like hell, even after beating the marine campaign multiple times, I never really get bored of it. The multiplayer is where this game is just top notch though, even though it was often plagued by hackers, the variety in weapons prompted people to always pick overpowered weapons, most of these things were solved by dedicated servers with good admins, and not only that but it was always fun, had tons of features, like, an unbelievable amount. All 3 races were highly enjoyable to play. The only reason I'm giving this a 9 instead of 10 is basically because of the complete and utter lack of balancing, easily overshadowed by how fun it is to simply play on a well maintained dedicated server, it only seldom caused frustration.… Expand

    Это просто улёт! класс! Как в 2002 году могли создать такой бомбезный шедевр?! Вот я незнаю, но скажу одно, что геймплей - ВО! Атмосфера - УЖАС КАКАЯ СИЛЬНАЯ! Графон - Ничоси! короче, у игры минусов нет, кроме возрастного ограничения, которое соответствует происходящему, да и вовсе незнаю что ещё сказать? ;)Это просто улёт! класс!     This game was so much fun. The single player was great, but the multiplayer was amazing. The three way race wars were an unending fun multiplayer.

    played it around 2003/5 on my pentium 3; experience that is hard to forget; looking back from 202x, can say: i wish there was a remake with modern graphics, although even now it would make you **** bricks playing in the dark:)), otherwise - the quality of how it was done, 3 stories connected into one - i wish younger games could come close to it, but they never did - avp 2010, colonialplayed it around 2003/5 on my pentium 3; experience that is hard to forget; looking back from 202x, can say: i wish there was a remake with modern graphics, although even now it would make you **** bricks playing in the dark:)), otherwise - the quality of how it was done, 3 stories connected into one - i wish younger games could come close to it, but they never did - avp 2010, colonial marines - sad trash compared to AvP2; the only quality game on pc 1st person was

    Not ground breaking but very well done with some very good decisions made throughout. Lack of in game GAMMA control really spoils the experience though.

    Awesomely awesome!! Even after years of playing this game i still talk about it today. The terror of being a marine, whilst the cool midst of the predator action. Crawling along any wall possible with an Alien, makes this game a true work of art. Playing this alone at night draws you into the world of a marine, and its gotta be one of the most intense and scary FPS' to date.

    My favorite PC game. The graphics, gameplay, sound, and pretty much everything is great. Yeah, there are such things as half life, max payne, counter strike...but I love this game nonetheless.

    I'm blasted away. As a long-time FPS player ( since I was four ), I have never been scared/shocked/pleased in my life with a FPS game such as this one. Oh sure, FEAR packs its own shot of adrenaline and paranormal activity. But being an Alien series fan, I just can't help but gawk at how great this game is. I haven't done playing it yet and I will most likely finish it I'm blasted away. Oh sure, FEAR packs its own shot of adrenaline and paranormal activity. But being an Alien series fan, I just can't help but gawk at how great this game is. I haven't done playing it yet and I will most likely finish it tonight, seeing as I've finished the Alien campaign and am halfway through the Preds. But so far... Cancel the dumb A.I and cancel the somewhat longetivity made from searching the next place to go... And you have this game. It's a blast, it's scary and it's fun. The "scary" part only goes when you're a human, of course. Preds are dominators and Aliens are frigging cheetahs after whatever four-legged creature there is in the savanah.… Expand

    Advanced 3D graphics, darkness, cool levels, in short, everything a shooter, horror and especially AvP fan would want. Besides, playing with the marine is considerably easier than in the other version. BUY IT!!!

    This game is sweet. The only limitation is that you need decent HW/internet connection to play (hey, nobody's perfect!). Otherwise, i've played this game more than any other to date. More entertaining than QuakeIIIArena, Half Life, etc..JKII is pretty sweet too :)

    Играть можно было за три стороны, сюжетно переплетенных между собой. И за людей это было по настоящему напряженно. Один из не многих удачных кроссоверов.

    Just like its predecessor, Alien Versus Predator 2 is stunning. The graphics are significantly improved and the action is even more intense. Hidden gem!

It's the only game that allows you to play as a facehugger! Sound design and overall mood captures the atmosphere of the Aliens and Predator films perfectly. Marine plotline has plenty of horror aspect to offer. One of the best video games ever made and my personal #1… Expand

Almost any surface for movement becomes available to us. And instilling fear in your victims and killing them with stealth one after another makes you feel like an ideal killing machine.
    The Marine campaign will make you feel like a hero in a world of monsters. The main character is strong, fearless, a specialist in all types of equipment and weapons, and looks a bit like Iron Arnie himself.
