It will excite you like a ride on a roller-coaster, it will challenge your skills to the fullest, it will grow on you and it will take a long time until you 'master' it. Luckily it did NOT set my 68000 heart on fire yet! :D
Don't make the mistake and overlook this gem. There are many great games from the 16-bit-era that you can enjoy, but this one is a unique masterpiece and totally worth your time even in 2019.
If there is one 'issue' I have to mention it is the difficulty. As the game is really challenging and has a rather high learning curve, you need to give it some time. Alien Soldier can feel very overwhelming at first, but once you get used to the controls it is more about fast decision making, experimenting with your many different options and some memorization. Unlimited continues on super easy difficulty also help a lot. No need to play for half an hour simply to have another boss try. You will also not experience cheap deaths caused by a single, hard to see bullet for example. Treasure gives you a generous life bar and if you die, it is not because of a single silly mistake, but mostly because of an ineffective aproach or situational unawareness. How's that, Contra Hard Corps?… Expand
