It's stand-alone, so it doesn't need the original to work. It adds some new music and a new weapon, a turret. You need to use those turrets to clear the levels. The game is great, but it doesn't have the same quality as the original one. Mostly because of the bugs. Sometimes the frames drop as well, while other games in the series work fine. But besides that it's still the same oldschool Alien Shooter. Pickens approves!… Expand
