    Just a few thoughts of this historically worthly, but for the gameplay a bit clumsy adventure: You play as an SS-officer, who works and helps the people around Stauffenberg (operation Valkyre) and wants to kill The Fuhrer in his airplane (operation Adlerhorst) at the end of the war. The sights are Berlin and Adlerhorst, and inside them there are 6 different location: they are beautifulJust a few thoughts of this historically worthly, but for the gameplay a bit clumsy adventure: You play as an SS-officer, who works and helps the people around Stauffenberg (operation Valkyre) and wants to kill The Fuhrer in his airplane (operation Adlerhorst) at the end of the war. The sights are Berlin and Adlerhorst, and inside them there are 6 different location: they are beautiful arranged with a lot of intention of historical and political correctness for this time. The animations instead are clumsy, people looking to other directions as they are interacting and so on; and they move so slowly what a pity!
    There are some black-and white cutscenes in comic strips which are tellling you the background, and there are swastikas, "heil hitlers" and so on that's why the language is picked with German expressions, maybe you have to know a little bit of history to get the touch of this story and penible arrangements!
    At the beginning you can choose, if you want to play in sepia, black and white or colour nice feature. The sound, music and atmosphere is okay, a little bit variety would not have been bad!
    The puzzles: mostly they are finding objects, getting them in your inventar, combining them or using them with someone or something but there are exceptions: once you play a short episode in the past with your own decisions (that was great), another time you have to encode a message or try to avoid the lights in a arcade-like scene. And you have to play poker, but it's very unrealistic, your enemies nearly do not quit.
    And another thing which is really annoying: every sentence needs to be "clicked away" in order to continue with the talk, ahh. If you like loading screens then you are at the right place: they appear often.
    One feature I have to tell you: in the first half of the game, you can decide if you choose your uniform or normal clothes through this you get different informations whatever clothes you wear!

    Overall I liked the game for its intense historical story, I played about 12 hours or so (but sometimes there had to be a glimpse look in the walkthrough, because some puzzles are unlogical). And there is a sequel but only for those who understand Russian!    … Expand

    A solid idea but lackluster excution as well as clunky controls make this game hard to enjoy and even get past the early stages without seeking help in the poorly written manual.

    Good Premise, mediocre execution. Having not played a point-and-click since Titanic, over 14 years ago, I thought I'd try this as the WW2 spy theme seemed interesting. Sadly, it proved nearly unplayable. Someone experienced with this sort of game may do fine, but I struggled to figure out what I was supposed to do and eventually gave up. You have to do so many boring tasks to get somethingGood Premise, mediocre execution. You have to do so many boring tasks to get something simple done, as if they tried to prevent the game from being to short, instead of making a better longer game. Example (MINOR SPOILERS): struggle to set up spy camera with correct lens (no instructions given), tripod too low for view out of window (seriously?), go back to office and search for taller tripod, try camera again only to find steam from leaky pipe in nearby building blocking view, find someone to fix pipe...take photo...develop photo (no instructions given), give photos to your boss who does not accept them because you apparently had to take more photos (this was never made clear). The game is full of this, tedious and not enough guidance or help. The voice acting is very mediocre (why get sleepy americans to do german voices?). There were also some problems with screen resolution and loading crashes. All in all a pity, as this game clearly had some potential, with great and historically authentic looking visuals. If you like the subject material and have a lot of experience with these sorts of games, you may like it, otherwise, give this a miss as there are probably much better point-and-click games out there.… Expand

    Despite its flaws, Operation Valkyrie proves to be a beautiful adventure game that manages to completely immerse the gamer in the most terrible war to take place in human history. It showcases exceptional atmosphere, a very intriguing story and has a low price to boot. [March 2012]

    This contributes to the overall feeling that A Stroke of Fate: Operation Valkyrie is exactly what it is: about half of a game. It's got pretty good writing, a decent aptitude for historical authenticity, and entirely okay art design, but it's wrapped up in a very bland package that lacks ambition, depth, length, and a single moment of tolerable voice acting.
