A great addition to the text-based gothic adventure genre, following the example of Sunless Sea. A creative original fantasy realm, deep complex characters and lots of adventures, survival is much easier than the Sunless Sea, combats are turn based and path-finding is almost automatic. Very enjoyable.

The best game that i've ever played in my life. And i have played a lot of games in my life. You may find it boring, or dull, or just nothing out of the ordinary. The game is basically a lot of reading, with some other mechanics to give some colour and form. The others mechanics were nothing out of the ordinary, but the lot of reading was marvelous. If you have the patience to slowly discover this superb new world, play it.

A well-written game that's clearly a labour of love, but that isn't enough to stop it leaving us a little cold [March 2017, p.68]

A fun, sad, scary and charming adventure that opens so many doors. It borrows a little too much from Sunless Sea, though, and the train management system is a boring chore.

A House of Many Doors is a terrifying trek through the unknown, a disjointed story with startling descriptions of lost memories and slow declines into madness. It is beautiful, haunting, gripping… and boring. It is simply hard to identify with it, and complicated to understand, which prevents it from truly capitalizing on its amazing elements which would otherwise stand alone so well.
