Although eFootball Kick Off! isn’t the complete return to the glory days of Pro Evolution Soccer, it’s a strong and confident step in the right direction. On the pitch, it translates the beautiful game in a way that echoes its past, offering a worthy alternative to EA FC. While Konami clearly wants to make this accessible and welcoming to new players, this comes at the expense of challenge, meaning you’ll need to remove assists and raise the difficulty to experience the tension and struggle longtime fans expect. Releasing at a budget price, this is an easy recommendation for anyone curious about where the series goes next, especially those looking for an alternative experience without aggressive monetisation practices.

eFootball Kick-Off! is a reminder that football games do not need to be overloaded with features to be enjoyable. When the fundamentals are strong and the design is focused, the result can be just as compelling as any big‑budget alternative. With this release, Konami has successfully tapped into its roots, giving Switch 2 players a superb reason to hit the pitch. It is a confident and enjoyable revival of Konami’s classic football philosophy, built around tight controls, smooth animation, and a generous range of modes that suit both newcomers and long‑time fans. The limited licences and occasional commentary hiccups do little to diminish the strength of the on‑pitch action, and the absence of pay-to-win microtransactions makes the overall package even more appealing. This is a focused and highly entertaining football game that understands exactly what it wants to be and delivers it with clarity.

In each of the modes, the gameplay is fun, light and the players nicely controllable. It’s great to have recognised stars and their likenesses in-game and the smoothness of the gameplay stands out for footie fans seeking a decent matchplay title that works on-the-go. Overall, a really decent soccer game for a bargain price on Switch 2.

With clean controls that support pick-up-and-play football, a staggering number of teams, and very moreish gameplay loops, backed by a much lower price tag than its immediate competitor, eFootball Kick-Off is a perfect reminder that while a truly rancid host nation can undermine the delight of a World Cup, nothing can destroy the love for the sport.

eFootball Kick Off doesn't try to compete directly with the giants of the genre in terms of content or licensing. Instead, it delivers a focused, accessible, and technically solid experience where it matters most, on the pitch. Smooth 60fps gameplay, combined with a more straightforward approach and a competitive price point, make it a highly appealing proposition, especially for those who value local multiplayer and are looking for a football game free from the obligations that come with the dominant live-service models on the market.

eFootball Kick-Off! is exactly what many of us have been waiting for in a soccer game: uncomplicated fun. It has the good and the bad of the latest PES/eFootball games, but without the intrusive pop-ups, card packs, and all that unnecessary paraphernalia.

All in all, eFootball Kick-Off! offers more enjoyable gameplay than I expected and, with its various modes, provides a solid alternative for the Switch 2. The gameplay is reminiscent of older PES games. Despite all this, I have to say that eFootball Kick-Off! feels like a somewhat experimental project.

eFootball Kick-Off is a refreshing take on football games for Nintendo Switch 2, prioritizing accessibility, quick matches, and local multiplayer fun over complexity. While its limited licenses and technical shortcomings are hard to ignore, the strong on-field gameplay and affordable price make it one of the most approachable football experiences currently available on the platform.

Different gameplay experience but with 60 fps - which may be crucial compared to EA FC and "30". The price for this is outdated graphics, but thankfully, the online experience isn't as lacking as the Switch games tends to be (there's no issue finding an opponent). They need to improve their goalkeeping, defense mechanics, and player movement, but their focus on more thoughtful actions will captivate many football fans. I wish that the teams made in offline World Tour couldn't be picked for ranked matches (You'll be playing with some teams with all football legends), because it's sickening for those who don't find the need playing with AI.

As it stands, eFootball Kick-Off! is a great football game wrapped in a thin package. If you’re here for modes, licenses, and the full modern football game circus, you may come away wanting a lot more. If you're here for the feel of PES, smooth 60fps football on Switch 2, and fancy building a team without being shaken upside down for your lunch money, then this is absolutely worth a look.

Konami has managed to reconnect with its football roots and bring back a football simulator that offers more direct, no-frills gameplay. This installment is the most accessible way to enjoy the 2026 World Cup on Switch 2 like never before. It lacks variety in game modes and the goalkeeper behavior needs improvement, but it's a lighthearted experience that captures the spirit of PES.

I know eFootball Kick-Off! won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. But for football addicts like me, who’ve been desperately missing the classic PES/Winning Eleven days, its gameplay and even the legends featured in World Tour mode are enough to spark a little hope that the magic might still be there somewhere.

eFootball Kick-Off! brings Konami's football to Nintendo with gameplay that's pleasantly reminiscent of the old PES games. There are several limitations and plenty of room for improvement, but it's a decent debut.

eFootball Kick Off prioritizes accessibility and solid gameplay over licenses, realism, and visual presentation. While its graphics remain modest and it lacks real world players, editing features, and licensed content, the game compensates with enjoyable matches, strong pacing, and a straightforward design philosophy that recalls the simpler and more approachable football titles of earlier generations. The result is an experience that values fun and playability above authenticity, making it an appealing option for players seeking uncomplicated football action.

It delivers a nostalgic and fluid football experience that masterfully revives the spirit of classic Pro Evolution Soccer. The arcade-style World Tour mode provides addictive progression, and the technical performance on Switch 2 is impressively smooth. However, frustratingly inconsistent goalkeeper AI and porous defensive logic occasionally undermine the polished ball physics and fun factor.
