Jun 23, 2026Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition brings the best in show of character action to the Switch 2, and it runs so damn perfectly there.
-
Jun 23, 2026Devil May Cry 5 is a fun romp with a story that is unlikely to leave a lasting impression despite its best efforts to present compelling cutscenes. The cast of playable characters could perhaps be slimmed down to two, in order to focus-in on unique gameplay for each one. Regardless, the moment to moment gameplay is fun with fluid combat and plenty of spectacle. The Switch 2 port specifically is one of Capcom’s best efforts on the system. While not as graphically demanding as some of their more recent titles, this is still a gorgeous game that has been translated excellently to Switch 2.
-
Jun 23, 2026Overall, Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is a very solid port. Capcom once again proves that it knows how to bring its games to the Nintendo Switch 2 without sacrificing what matters most. Performance is excellent, the combat remains one of the best in the action genre, and the overall experience stays true to the original. While it isn't the most complete version of the game, it is one of the most accessible and convenient ways to play it anywhere. For players who have never experienced Devil May Cry 5, this edition is an excellent opportunity to discover one of the finest character action games available.
-
Jun 22, 2026You’re getting one of the best and slickest action games available in a richer package that is still quite impressive on the go.
-
Jun 22, 2026While it's missing some extras, Devil May Cry 5 shines on Switch 2 with superb combat, style and performance.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is a prime example of how a port for the Nintendo Switch 2 should be handled: fluid, responsive, and visually impressive, despite a few minor compromises. Now, years later, Switch 2 owners can also dive into the frenetic action of this "Stylish Action" title, which offers a fast-paced, dynamic combat system featuring four playable characters. The Devil Hunter Edition includes all the content from the Special Edition—a comprehensive package, save for the Turbo and Dark Knight modes. That is hardly a deal-breaker, however; the epic journey alone will keep players occupied for around 20 hours (assuming they unlock all the side missions), not to mention the time spent honing combat skills and conquering the Bloody Palace. If you’ve been waiting for the chance to get your hands (or get back) on Devil May Cry 5 in a portable format, the Devil Hunter Edition is the perfect choice. The question remains, however: will the long-awaited Devil May Cry 4 ever make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2? It is the one missing entry that we really feel is needed.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition on Switch 2 is an impressive port that still feels fresh even considering its age. It’s performance is great, especially in handheld mode. If you did already play it on a different platform, specifically if you grabbed the Special Edition, then the omissions mean you could skip this version and not miss anything. But if this would be your first time following Dante, Nero, and V on this new adventure, it’s a great way to play it.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition may not be a definitive port of the game, but few players would bother complaining about what's missing. This is still a fast and fluid action title with plenty of content and a campaign that never feels like it's dragging along. Most importantly, this is a port that looks just as good as its more powerful console brethren without any performance drops. Capcom has already proven in the Switch 2's first year that it can be trusted to bring out solid ports of its games with minimal compromise, and DMC5 keeps that streak going.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition may not be the ultimate version of the game, but it’s another strong port from Capcom that especially excels when played in handheld mode. The core game has plenty to offer, and it’s fantastic to have Vergil included without any additional cost. It’s unfortunate that not everything from the Special Edition could be included, but despite that, Devil May Cry 5 is still easily one of the best games of this kind that you can play on the Nintendo Switch 2.
-
Jun 22, 2026Almost 7 years after its original release, Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition makes it clear that Capcom's action game stands the test of time. Playing on a Nintendo Switch 2 comes with little to no compromises, so if this is your first time experiencing it, know you'll get the real deal and a game worth absolutely every penny.
-
Jun 22, 2026The brilliant gameplay of Devil May Cry 5 hasn't aged one bit, making this Devil Hunter Edition of the game, packing in extras such as playable Vergil and more, a must-have. With its great visuals and solid performance, the only real disappointment here is the lack of some additional modes found in the previous Special Edition.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is an incredible technical achievement. A masterclass in action, the landmark title works perfectly on the Switch 2, making this an essential purchase for those who have missed the adventure. Although this edition doesn’t include anything to intrigue returning players, there’s still no denying how flawlessly the core experience holds up, delivering the same razor‑sharp combat and stylish spectacle that cemented it as a modern classic.
-
Jun 22, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is another great Capcom port for the Switch 2, maintaining that crucial 60fps gameplay without completely tanking the visual presentation. There are a few blemishes, mind you, and the absence of an entire mode means this isn't the definitive release of the game. If you've never experienced DMC5 before, however, you're in for a treat. This is one of the best action games out there, and the finest DMC entry so far.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition brings the demon-slaying action of the franchise's peak to the Nintendo Switch 2. It is a fabulous port of the game, though it lacks any new content and features a rather mundane photo mode. If you've never experienced the game, there's absolutely no excuse not to jump in immediately. The over-the-top action and stylish cutscenes are just delightful, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better game in the genre on Switch 2 than DMC5.
-
Jun 21, 2026Just like the original release of Devil May Cry 5, this Devil Hunter Edition for Switch 2 arrives during a golden era for Capcom, which is currently enjoying the success of *RE Requiem* and Pragmata while awaiting the new Onimusha. The overall quality of this edition is excellent, and there are no complaints regarding the amount of content, despite the absence of a few features found in the previously released *Special Edition*. It is a shame about a few technical hiccups, though they do not significantly detract from the overall quality of the experience.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition works wonderfully on the Nintendo Switch 2, finally giving Nintendo diehards the chance to experience one of the best Capcom games of the last decade. It looks fantastic and runs incredibly well, once again impressing me with how far ahead the Switch 2 is of its predecessor. This is a great way to play Devil May Cry 5, and it’s never a bad time to revisit such a brilliant title.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is a great way to play one of Capcom’s best action games on Nintendo Switch 2. The game still looks impressive, the combat still feels fantastic and the included extras give returning players enough reasons to jump back in. Vergil is a great addition, the Mega Buster and other bonus weapons are fun to use and the 60fps performance makes sure the action remains fast in both docked and handheld mode. If you never played Devil May Cry 5 before, this Devil Hunter Edition is an easy recommendation.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 is one of the best games in the franchise, and the Switch 2 port is solid. There are a few stumbles in docked mode—with noticeable aliasing—but the game itself is fantastic and visually beautiful on the Switch 2.
-
Jun 21, 2026All in all, a nice opportunity for those who missed it or for those who want to play some great, ridiculously over-the-top hack and slash while commuting or on the hammock this summer, while on TV it looks very similar to what you remember on PS4. It misses just one bonus from the PS5 version, but it runs great on Nintendo's hybrid system and releases on a sexy deal.
-
Jun 21, 2026While Devil Hunter Edition may not match the suite of technical features and bonus modes from the Special Edition, players will still find that this is an exceptional port of a great game that is unbelievably hard to put down. Vergil is here, and he is still the most important addition. Devil May Cry 5 is widely regarded as one of the best games Capcom released during its redemption arc, which kicked off with Resident Evil 7, and for good reason. It's jam-packed with polished action, thrills, and some of the most refined and ridiculous 3D combat ever designed.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 was great back in 2019, and it’s just as good now. Getting this quality of an experience on a mobile device would have blown my mind back then. It’s becoming the norm for CAPCOM’s Switch 2 ports. $40 is a lot if you’re double-dipping; for those who are yet to play DMC 5, there are few games out there like it.
-
Jun 21, 2026Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is an excellent Switch 2 port that preserves the game's stylish and endlessly replayable action while delivering smooth 60 FPS performance in both handheld and docked modes. There's no new content, but everything released for DMC5 is here, making this an easy recommendation for anyone looking to experience one of the best action games in recent memory.

Jun 21, 2026That’s perhaps the biggest compliment you can pay this release. There are no glaring compromises, no disappointing technical shortcomings and no obvious corners cut in bringing one of Capcom’s best modern games to a new platform. Instead, what you’re left with is exactly what you’d hope for: the full Devil May Cry 5 experience, running beautifully on Switch 2 and proving once again why it remains one of the best action games of its generation.
