It’s the compelling interplay of thrilling story, memorable characters, enjoyable puzzles, and stunning presentation that ensures Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged will become a top choice for a new generation of players. Let’s hope the sequel (and the rest of the series) finds a home on Nintendo hardware. It’s 2024, and my game of the year is a graphic adventure first released in 1996. Go figure.

Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is an exquisite remake that fits like a charm on the Nintendo Switch 2. Thanks to its many costumization options, it's possible to play either like in the original game or in a much more up to date manner. The plot remains juicy and captivating, even if it takes a bit of time until the real implications are laid bare in front of us. The puzzles are fun to tackle, and the dialogues are always able to get a smile out of the player, even if now and then we come across some outdated clichés. The best treatment that the original Broken Sword could get, now improved on the Nintendo Switch 2.

If you already own Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade is definitely worth purchasing. If you don’t, I think that Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is the best console version. You have the ability to play it on the TV when docked, the option to use mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2, and even a full touchscreen portable experience. It delivers the most input options available and great visuals, regardless of how you choose to play through Revolution Software’s classic adventure.
