Oct 16, 2025The one-track, one-car options may seem weak, but spending over an hour trying to master drifting and making incremental improvements with every try is enthralling. The buttery smooth gameplay and bright visuals have kept Ridge Racer timeless, and while it lacks all the cool features and Reiko isn't around, it's hard not to be impressed by such an early 3D racing game that had such a confident vision for itself that still stays challenging with infinite credits.

Jul 22, 2025Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer is another excellent addition to developer Hamster’s collection of preserved arcade classics. Having the arcade version of the original Ridge Racer on Switch 2 is a real blessing, and its support for online leaderboards allow for quickfire, moreish handheld play. It’s certainly not the most feature-rich game in the series, but a handful of modes and satisfyingly simple gameplay have kept me coming back.

Jun 23, 2025With any luck, Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer will be simply the first of many dives into the 3D era of arcades. If so, it’s a perfect choice to carry that flag. Ridge Racer was a revolution back in 1993, and it’s still a fantastic racer today. With just four courses and a single car, you’ll really need to get into challenging the online leaderboards if you want the fun to last. Still, this is essentially the game as it was, and I doubt anyone would come into it expecting anything more than that.
