Set in a fictional town named Lan Kong Town, which is modelled after Yilan in Taiwan, the story is centred around six high school students who form a band that eventually achieves international fame.

Gameplay is simple, requiring players to touch vertically falling notes that have hit a bar on the bottom of the screen.

Depending on the song, the number of lanes for the notes increases and they shift side to side, making the screen look as if it is dancing to the music.

There are over 100 songs in the library. Three difficulty levels Easy, Hard and Special are available. Players are able to choose difficulty levels according to their skill so they may enjoy all pieces.

What Rayark does so well is emulate the experience of playing a musical instrument. VOEZ isn’t easy, and the icons flow in quick and furious, but as you master each track, your fingers start flowing across the screen, and the experience is pure, visceral elegance. Supported by a stellar soundtrack that has some of the best music I’ve ever heard in a rhythm game, VOEZ is essential stuff.

If you’re a fan of games like Dance Dance Revolution or the classic Tap Tap Revenge, and enjoy a bit of catchy J-pop tunes, then VOEZ is one to check out.

Instead, the game shines because of the way it does the core mechanics so well, and invigorates a stale genre that has been copied and churned out so many times since iOS gaming began in 2008.

Make no mistake, VOEZ is a rhythm game that’s well worth playing. It’s clever, fun, challenging (even if it can be a bit too challenging at times), and is oddly pretty in its simplicity – and what little illustration artwork there is looks great.

This game is amazing. The design is spot on and I favor the aesthetic. The songs are the things i'm most impressed about. The overallThis game is amazing.
