Vermes on Mars constantly switches from "calmly patrolling the area" to being attacked, which provides a great feeling of tension and release, as you're constantly anticipating the worms– Things become even more exciting when multiple worms or larger worms attack simultaneously which makes for a surprisingly fun gameplay experience.

Vermes on Mars looks great and plays well. It is a challenging game, but the difficulty is well balanced and players shouldn't find themselves getting stuck for too long on any one level.

To its credit, Vermes on Mars attempts something new, but it simply doesn't work. The game would play much better as a standard twin-stick shooter. But instead, it's a game with a great premise, lots of levels, and an excellent upgrade system that just happens to have awful controls. What a waste.
