At launch this game may be a little buggy, a little crashy, but a Pokémon go clone it is not. The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a free to play, very well polished game, so expect the temptation to spend hard earned cash to get a leg up in the world, and by all means, if you are able and willing, then the prices are comparable to games with far less polish and charm. Maybe I’m a sucker for the Witcher universe (not maybe… I am), but the game is fun and my wife and I walked a good two miles without even noticing this evening just having fun, and if you like the ‘just one more monster’ mentality in your game then this is a great game that will get you walking around your neighborhood. Heck, we even drove to other neighborhoods to play. Happy hunting, Witcher! Expand

Was really looking forward playing this. But when i saw the extreme cash-grab micro-transaction shop i got disgusted. I mean 200$ish for an sword in the shop shouldnt even be an option. I dont mind microtransactions at a fair price since its the new meta in mobile games. But this is just awful pricing. Its a total miss from the devs.

Hunting a griffin in your garden is amazing! Already lvl 10 & on my way to new quests. Excellent game, not only for Witcher fans

Silver sword locked behind a paywall is the first thing you will notice here. Sure, you can try to grind for it, but it will take around a month, while you will be suffering the low damage you deal and die from common monsters. Sure, you can try to grind for it, but it will take around a month, while you will be suffering the low damage you deal and die from common monsters. I was playing it during soft launch, which was 10 month ago and the balance only got worse. Earlier you could cancel enemy attack with well timed crit or sign, which gave you some way to strategize in each encounter and beat hard enemy with your skill. Now it’s completely removed and you can only perfect-parry or face-tank. It’s really hard to do on the go and face tanking will kill you in 3 hits. Yes, they want to make you to use consumables, but even with those your chances are slim. Most of the times you feel that you are wasting resources than getting an advantage in battle. There’s even no incentive to beat harder monsters, since they grant the same number of XP. But they require way more resources to beat than you can possibly have in return. Now talking about the quests and narrative - my first quest bugged out completely: it spawned on the private property (which it shouldn’t) and after I pressed relocate it disappeared completely. Contacted support, but no response yet. Character progression also doesn’t feel right - my lvl 17 character isn’t much stronger than my lvl 5 character. Expand

I was really surprised by the quality of the 3D models, which were FAR better than what was initially teased couple years ago.

I never got interested in Pokemon Go and I can't understand how people (especially those not grown with the franchise) are suddenly into it, while it completely broke all the past rules of how these fights are supposed to take place. There's not even special

This game however is pretty accurate depiction of what Witcher 3 was on PC, I'd say close to 95% accurate on how the game operates, but in 1st person perspective. There's talents and items to equip and prepare for combat and the monster book has like 300 different enemies.

I can't imagine what this game will turn out to be in couple of years.

I played Pokemon, Ingress, Harry Potter and this game. It's the worst game: no fun, no nice pictures, no interest, no aim. Just walk and pay.

Gameplay is intuitive and challenging, in so far as you must move around in order to collect resources, complete missions and daily quests. As far as enemy interaction, you fight monsters by swiping at it with your sword, throwing bombs with a button tap or us signs by making shapes onscreen. The game gives you hints to monster weaknesses based on the gameplay mechanics before each encounter, which is really helpful. Collecting money is a grind. Microtransactions exist, and include money and an item kit, so there is a degree of pay-to-win. Performance-wise, the game is wanting. It crashes frequently just by trying to look as player menus. Have also had bad luck with AR, which is really a shame because the 'monster tracking' feature looks really cool. Despite the bugs, you can't beat the price (free). A good addition to any 'Witcher' fan's collection. Expand

To obtain decent equipment, you either need to grind till you drop unconscious or take a shortcut and buy it with real money. I’m not a fan of such paywalls, but the quests are very well-written and therefore engaging, and after some time I started to enjoy my life as a witcher, especially that I found Monster Slayer’s combat extremely satisfying. At times Monster Slayer becomes a super immersive experience, and it’s always a joy to discover a new monster during a different time of day or when the weather changes. When that sense of wonder wears off after lots of grinding and walking around to find more monsters, you may begin to question whether you want to keep going. If you do, things get better as you stronger, but the path of a witcher is an arduous one and requires lots and lots of battles.

The pleasant surprise of the summer comes from Poland. Spokko Games takes the Pokémon GO-like formula and makes it its own.
