    If you're a fan of rail shooters, and the initial investment doesn't put you off, House of the Dead Overkill: The Lost Reels is a fantastic addition to the genre that will keep you busy for quite some time.

    Crude, rude, and sometimes just downright distasteful, The Lost Reels brilliantly toes the line of acceptability, while still delivering solid on-rails shooter action.

    A fine port of the classic Wii/PS3 on rails shooter, but the fact that it is mandatory to pay twice to get the total stuff really sucks.

    The House of the Dead: Overkill - The Lost Reels remains a decent virtual light gun game that translates pretty well to iPad, but its graphics haven't aged well and the IAP system is an unwelcome addition.

    The original HOTD: Overkill is no holy grail of the genre, but it did spice up the ailing niche with some eccentricity and zany thrills. To see it massacred in this way is a shame both for the series and for iOS newcomers whose first taste of this most guilty of pleasures will be a sour one.
