There are plenty of other serious racers available on the App Store, but Split/Second will feed your inner tweenager's destructive lust with its explosive action like no other racer.

Wholly playable online multiplayer over Wi-Fi. Excellent track design with lots of stuff that goes boom. An all-new location exclusive to the iPhone version. And it's pretty smooth, too, considering how fast it is. (I played it on a 3GS, by the way.) But it just never gels.

Forget Split/Second for the iPhone. It's not worth the time or effort, especially at $6.99. Save up for the big boy version instead. You'll feel better.

More frustrating than anything, Split/Second will leave you wishing for the game it could have been.

Split/Second isn't a must have but may appeal to those looking for a different and far more arcade-y racing experience.

It makes the console and PC versions more badass by comparison. Though, now that an explosive Asphalt 8 exists, I'd love to see a remake. Our phones might stand the challenge now. Full Review »
