As a fan of these "retraux" style games on iOS, I can say that Space Junk is a thoroughly-enjoyable experience on the platform. It's easy to control, is universal, is well-integrated with Game Center, and of course has that classic style of gameplay that harkens back to the old days of gaming. Fans of old-school shooters definitely need to check out Space Junk.

In fact, it not only beats Atari's Greatest Hits, but also the original Asteroids! Hello, Atari? Oh, you've gone.

The whole thing will get a lot more addicting when I can rank on Game Center with the first update, but even as it stands now, Space Junk is a highly enjoyable space shooter well worth a look.

Let's start with a simple plot breakdown, you are what appears to be an astronaut floating around different realms of space trying to clear up useless objects left in space (Space Junk).

Then we move on to how this is implemented, to control your perky little character the developer has added in three circles, two of them are button like controls and they control your movement and your weapon. The third acts like a joy stick or analogue sticks on a console controller, if you don't know what they are then I don't know what kind of rock you've been living under.

On the theme of rocks... You start of blasting your way through simple asteroids that split up into easy to manage chunks that you pick off, a little bit like the game Asteroids. However the clever levelling system quickly enhances your game play by adding in harder, themed objects like satellites which split into complicated pieces which take skill and precision to destroy.

The object of the game is to clear all of the space junk however there's more than one way to skin a cat... You can't just got plundering your way through ammunition like there's no tomorrow, you have to accurately aim your shots otherwise you won't get any bonus points at the end.

There are pick ups that can be collected; they will be in the shape of a toolbox. These can give the little extra boost needed to complete the stage or gather the most points. There are also challenge level in which you have to complete tasks such as avoiding asteroids for a certain amount of time for a point bonus.

Overall the game makes for a fun and exciting time, bringing back a retro theme with priceless vector graphics coupled with a simple yet immersive game play experience. And that ladies and gentlemen is why I think this game is a must have!
