    THIS GAME DOES NOT DESERVE THE NAME SONIC 4! Mania Deserves it More than any other game. Part I Of A Two episode sega. This game has Terrible Physics If Any, Awful Music. The Stages Are literal rippoffs of the ones of the genesis days. Casino Night? Nah Casino Street. Green Hill? Nah Splash Hill. Metropolis? Mad Gear. The Names aren't even that Great. Nothing Just Sonic, Even The Older Sonic Games like Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles Had Multiple Playable Characters But NOPE This one does not. and in the version the special stages ARE TILT CONTROLS. God i hate this game. Do Not Buy This Its Garbage And Not The sonic 4 We Waited For. Oh Forgot te mention The Graphics In this port of the game the're good somehow, because the're less plasticy. 4/10… Collapse

    This is a highly mediocre game with decent level design and good music, but has no original stages or boss fights and can't really be called Sonic 4 with these physics.

    Sonic the Hedgehog has had it rough, but this is the first TRULY great Sonic game. This is something I feel is what the classics had, and it overall felt like they finally took notes. Sonic Team, the template Sonic game formula, and Dimps, the contemporary formula founders, merge to make a gem of a game that tells shows the tale of Sonic's final clash for the Islands before universalSonic the Hedgehog has had it rough, but this is the first TRULY great Sonic game.     It was great when SEGA tried bring Sonic back to a more classic style. I don't even care so much that the homing attack made it into the classic style of gameplay. The main things that upset me are the physics that feel slightly off and how infuriatingly difficult the final boss was. I think I've laid down over 100 lives on that annoying thing.

    The level design as a whole isn't entirely satisfying. They aren't bad, but neither do they compare to the classics. Although zones are long, there's usually just one strict path to be taken, and there's not much replay value as a result.

    SEGA could've done better than this, and this game is all in all, a letdown. There are good moments, but none will ever compare to the classics.    … Expand

    Im giving at a 9 as the fact it is a mobile game. Sheer brilliance for a mobile game! Its basically console Sonic made easy on the phone and much better than the console versions itself.

    It's a fun game at times, but the problems are very apparent. Physics problems are apparent, enemy placement is poor, the bosses are rehashed, and the music synths are like dying cats and dogs. It's not worth the name Sonic 4. Though if you get past it, you're in for an average platformer. Its rehashed themes are taken in original ways, it's fast, and blazing through the levels is fun.It's a fun game at times, but the problems are very apparent.     I paid 10 dollars for it when it released and it was all worth it. The game plays really well, except with special stages that become very annoying because it uses tilting controls. But it never gets old for me to play it, just wished it was more longer.

    Sonic 4 Episode 1 is a strange combination of new and old, some of it works and some doesn't but as a package it still comes together as a more than decent Sonic game that will delight both old fans and newcomers.

    This is much better than the usual emulator crap that Sega throws at the iOS audience. It is still not at the top of iOS gaming due to touch controls that aren´t always as good as the competition. Lots of colours, good sense of speed and a fun albeit rather short game. Well worth a buy if it goes on sale.

    I myself am disappointed and frustrated with Sonic 4 at times, but there are more rays of light here for the series than any other game in the franchise has shown in the past decade.
