Though considered at the time to be a great game in the 1990s, it does't hold up well in today's standards. One of the game's biggest ordeals is derived from large confusing map layouts which are only worsened by frequent random encounters and a lack of concise instructions on how to proceed through the game. I honestly didn't expect this game to be this good.
Incredibly enjoyable if you use a guide and like both dungeon crawling and monster collectible.
The alignment thing is a bit messed up tho, but it was innovative for an 80s game.
Despite the plot being narrated by very few lines of dialogue, that didn-t stop me from getting attached to my characters and finding the story interesting.

Shin Megami Tensei for iOS not only serves as a virtual history lesson for this amazing series, but is still one of the more unique old-school JRPGs you will play. I definitely recommend checking this game out.

If you’re hardcore into RPGs and want an experience from the past that still holds up some twenty years later, then definitely pick up SMT. If you’re just looking for another fun, time-destroying high school simulator, then patiently wait for the return of the Persona series to consoles.

In the end, however, Shin Megami Tensei is easily one of the best RPGs we've seen on the iOS platform yet, and it deserves your attention in spite of some of the flaws specific to this port.
