I really want to like this game, but all design flaws makes it difficult :-( I love the setting, graphics and I am sucker for this genre. The thing I really hate is lack of visibility. There is no way of knowing what it takes to get 2 or three stars for each level. You can only guess how much health enemies have. When you start a new level all characters are damaged; they heal overtime butI really want to like this game, but all design flaws makes it difficult :-( I love the setting, graphics and I am sucker for this genre. I understand that the designer wanted to remove numbers to make the game more casual, but s/ he failed to replace numbers with ... Anything! No visibility does not equal casual.

All would be fine if not for the necessity to collect stars to unlock stages. At first it’s not a problem, but later you’re forced to replay missions or pay to avoid it. [10/2015, p.76]

Rumble City isn't a bad game at all, Avalanche Studios has created an interesting hybrid between the strategic and the puzzle genres. Alas, the freemium model spoils everything, difficulty above all, making the experience, at times, too frustrating.

Rumble City isn’t a bad game. It can be fun …but only when you’re not being funneled towards buying cheap health refills and character power-ups.
