This is the 2nd of 3 Alphadia games now available. It may seem a little dated in graphics by today's standards, but it actually has a lot going for this little gem. Much better than the first game, this one comes with an in-game map that shows you where you're going. The graphics are also a major step up in the dungeon department.

Not to be fooled though, the game does have a few minor

Not to be fooled though, the game does have a few minor flaws. One is that there is only one facial graphic for each character and the screen is not fully widescreen.

The plusses though like an excellent localization, interesting conversations from the innkeepers, beautiful interface, multiple endings and battles that go a step above the original game make this SNES-style RPG game easily worth picking up for the price.

Here's to hoping the other 3 games in the main series see a stateside release!

P.S. For those who haven't played the first Alphadia, both it and this one have a connected story. Once you clear it and see the best ending in Alphadia II, the entire story makes sense and the ending of the sequel is really good.

I can't endorse Alphadia 2 to players, even JRPG enthusiasts. It feels like a 'straight to VHS' Super Nintendo game that trades openly on the objectification of one of the main characters. Maybe this sounds good to you, but I will direct everyone else towards the Final Fantasy games or Chrono Trigger.

Alphadia2 doesn't offer anything that we haven't seen previously, but those who appreciate old skool Japanese RPGs will find little to complain about.
