Re-Volt Classic is a true gem in the racing genre giving countless hours of challenging racing, star-chasing and swearing at evil opponents blasting you with electric bolts. The price is on the high side, and I would have liked it lower to get more players to jump on the buy button. If you want a game that you can really sink your teeth into Re-Volt Classic comes highly recommended.

It's the opposite of Zaxxon Escape: I liked the game, someone more familiar with it was not a fan. I'm curious to hear what Re-Volt veterans think of it.

There's a strange emptiness at the core of Re-Volt Classic, and while it's sometimes enjoyable, you never feel like you're having as much fun as you should be.

Not everything is better the second time around.

It's certainly not the most interesting revival we've ever seen, and neither does it forge any new ground in terms of a standalone iOS title. I'd never accuse it of being a bad game -- far from it -- but it's simply too pedestrian to get remotely excited about.

Fans of the game the first time around will enjoy a very true port to iOS, but in today's market the game simply feels well behind the time.

Re-volt is an extremely unique and interesting game, but what separates it from other racing games also drags it down at times. The concept of racing RC cars makes for interesting power-ups, such as an electric current that stops cars in their tracks and a battery that can speed them up. The power-ups have a mario kart-esque feel, and there are a lot of similarities between the different power-ups there and here. There’s an assortment of cars to chose from, with various stats and different abilities. These cars are unlocked through the different modes, like the standard racing mode and the star collection mode.

The maps all feel interesting and distinct, but can become somewhat boring after repeated play. These maps can sometimes be visually disappointing, but make up for it with their locations. The maps are set in comical remote-control car locations, like a titanic, a toy store, and a supermarket. The power-ups make the game fun, but the game can feel somewhat uninteresting after a while due to its cookie-cutter style. There’s really only one aspect to the game, which is the crazy racing. There’s really no other moving parts in the game then speeding through these locations. There’s a couple customization options to the races that can add a little excitement, but the game is not best played repeatedly.
