And yet, despite it's incredible brevity, this gorgeous little slice of retro heaven still makes for an absolutely essential download for arcade fans. You see, while it may be billed as a standalone game in it's own right, Pink Hour is actually a cleverly disguised demo for Daisuke 'Pixel' Amaya's real iOS masterpiece - the utterly fabulous KeroBlaster.

With that in mind, my advice is to download Pink Hour without delay and try it for yourself. After which, if you're anything like me — and you're reading this review, so you probably are — you'll soon find yourself heading straight back to the App Store to drop a relatively meager £2.99 on KeroBlaster. And trust me, you'll be mightily glad you did.

[BTW]: oh and should Amaya-San happen to listen in at some point, please be aware that there are lots of Playstation Vita owners — myself included — who'd gladly pay top dollar for the chance to play KeroBlaster on our favourite handheld too! Come to think of it, ditto Cave Story for that matter. After all, forget about dogs, it's Vita that's rapidly becoming an indies best friend.

Besides, you can't blame a guy for asking, right?
