If you never heard of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, it wasAs a boss monster fell, you gain their parts as reward, use their skin, bone, claw, and shells to create the armor and show it off to your hunting buddies, let them awe in your glorious armor and massive weapons, and assure them that you and your fellow hunter are going to have a field day instead of worry what's coming ahead.
If you never heard of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, it was one of the definitive game that reignited the golden age of the psp during its waning stage. Capcom re-port the game on an unlikely platform, iOS, despite to the contrary, this is no mere port with button slaps on, it has a completely new interface and make use of whatever space on screen without obscuring the actual action. Compared the the psp claw grip, the touchscreen interface allows one to perform multiple task with just 2 fingers. It require practice, but in many ways superior to the older psp control scheme.
The game is simple and straight forward, you are a hunter, your job is to kill monsters. For beginners, the game will provide tutorials to get yourself familiarized the gameplay, how to attack perform powerful attack and time your strike, carve beasties, collect herbs and materials such as ores, bugs and bones to get better weapons, improve armor to last longer in fights and deal more damage.
Many naysayers claim that is about button mashing, is NOT, button mashing will get you crash and burn as monsters can literally take away 1/2 to 3/4 of your hitpoint in one tackle if you go Leeroy on them. In this game, is about learning patterns, go for the boss monster weakness and land the attack and dodge away unharm, in return boss monster will go into rage mode, they move faster, hit way way harder and force you on your toes to not getting hit by them. Aside from the boss fight, is about throwing flash bomb to daze your foes, paintball to track the fleeing monsters, observe a sign of weakness, apply traps to immobilized them before capturing or dealing the final blow to the monsters. After completing the quest, you are given reward in cash and the boss monster material in skin, claw, bone and scales. Reward can be varied, sometimes, you can get incredibly rare material that needed in that one helmet, sometimes you are unlucky. This game is about persistence and patient, as patient hunter always gets the prey and in return, better rewards. With hundreds of armor and weapons of different type, attributes and ability, there is no lack of choice to choose from, but to get them. You gonna put the work into them.
It is certainly not an easy game, the game will punish the careless and intimidate the fools, but it also reward the skilled and gift the patient. A game you learn to be good and in return rise up to become the ultimate hunter.
Hunting online is another completely different experience, this game online mode is one of the strongest selling point of this game. You link with real life hunter and go all out on your target. In solo, the boss monster will have one target(two if you have a felyne comrade with you). Online mode with other hunters, boss monster have to fight from 2-4 hunters. With experience hunters, combination of different weapons with different ability, traps and the boss monster will fell in no time, OR meet a bunch of inexperience hunter that wears nothing but their skin, carry weapons that you will call madness and watch disaster unfolding. This to say that not all turn out like this, experience hunters online can assist and teach new hunters the robes and noose of becoming one themselves, and so far I met newcomers that already become season veterans that can fell those beasties with style and skill. Only a few failures but never that discourage me from playing.
Been playing for 200 hours since launch, I am very happy it has a healthy and growing community. It grows from a few thousand hunters to 130000 strong since launched. Is a great game in both online and offline, my touchscreen experience is so far so good that i was able to reach high rank easily compared to my psp time.… Expand
