    Controls are dead simple to comprehend and work as advertised. GameCenter integration tracks your scores on 3 global leaderboard and there are 18 achievements to earn, too.

    Just like the classic games that inspired it, the gameplay in Monkey Labour is incredibly simple on the outside but contains subtle complexity and depth which is hard to master.

    If you remember the days of Game and Watch with fondness, or are intrigued to see what gamers played back in the day, this is definitely a fabulous gaming curiosity!

    Monkey Labour is not a game for everyone. For all those who remember with pleasure the time spent playing with a Tiger console or an old Game & Watch, this game is definitely a must buy. Anyway, because of the prehistoric graphics and the basic gameplay, most of the youngest players could stick up their nose.

    Monkey Labour can be reviewed in one sentence: This is a sweet LCD-game from the 80' s that acts exactly as you remember these kind of games. It even has a virtual discoloured screen if you press your touch screen. This is hypernostagia for less than a buck. It isn´t gonna keep you up at night, but it will make you smile if you are one of gaming's old boys.

    Everything about this screams DETAIL! Just to start: look at the back of the virtual game unit, and you'll see that familiar matt-finish plastic, with battery cover and model number.. just like the real thing. Even the front of the instruction booklet looks EXACTLY like the original ones that came with these game units!

    The best part is the gameplay, itself. Just like the real thing, it starts off easy and gets increasingly more challenging. But what makes this actually better than the real ones is the "Game Center" Achievements and Leader-board. This keeps it fun and challenging for a Long time!

    This game is worth much more than the asking price of .99¢, I believe, anyway. If you're a fan of these kind of retro LCD remakes.. Than this is something you really do wanna have! ;D    … Expand

If you ever owned a handheld device this is a MUST HAVE! but I recommend it to others too:) The feel of the game is quite the same as in the original "Game & Watch" games only better with addition of apple freshness. The game only looks simple but it's much more complex. It gives you a lot of fun when you realize there are several monkey behaviours which you could interpret as different levels. When you play the game perfectly, you get a multiplier, which can get you quickly to a higher score and also to a different game level difficulty, so it's quite challenging. I think there are 9 multipliers, but I'm still working on the 4th :) The game has 18 achievements that aren't so easy to earn, so it has a great replay value. And not to forget the graphics and overall look. In the game you don't get just the play screen, you get the whole LOOK and FEEL of a handheld device. You can flip it around and even open the battery compartment and check out the instruction booklet that was always indispensable item when you bought the original. The DETAILS are just STUNNING! It PERFECTLY recreates the look and feel of LCD screen. When you tilt the screen to a certain angle you can see the whole sprite sheet. If you press the lcd screen you get the famous liquid crystal spill. The shadows from the characters fall accordingly to the angle of the device so you get the feeling of layer depth just like on the original handheld. And the device looks worn out like it was played a lot for the last twenty years. Just like it would be in reality when you had many games but you always returned to the ones that gave you the most fun. For the price 0.99$ this game is basically for free!… Expand
